We describe the input and presentation features of the JCPC driveable computing platform. We compare human control input and driver and passenger identification hardware including active badges, 866 MHz radio microcontroller tags, USB keyrings and acoustic techniques. We describe environmental sensors and uses of such context data in prototype intelligent, sentient applications. An outline of the system architecture used in the JCPC platform is included. Design objectives for a hierarchical menu system intended for interactive operations and status feedback screens are set out. The C++ API is presented. Finally, we describe the passenger feedback and information display mechanisms offered by the JCPC.","PeriodicalId":365722,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. Aerial imagery sensors can provide sufficient resolution to sense vehicle locations and movements across broader spatial and temporal scales. Digital video, Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and automated image processing are used to improve the spatial coverage, accuracy and cost-effectiveness of the data collection and reduction. In the paper, a general technique for collecting and analyzing aerial video data is given. In the present work, authors are proposing an electronic cascaded controller making use of knowledge based system and fuzzy control. This will alert driver about possibility of completing journey successfully, considering number of the factors like journey condition, journey classification, vehicle condition, vehicle characteristics, optimum distance to be traveled and status of the driver. The cascaded fuzzy logic controller is designed to improve the efficiency of the vehicle. This system will be helpful for the travelers where long journey is to be commenced and also can be used where cost of traveling matters. Authors have also explained the function of black box system. This black box system will be very useful for historical comparison in future journey. It helps the users to determine the car position and velocity. But the unknown GPS noise characteristic makes the position information with undesirable position errors. The map matching process can improve the position accuracy and availability of the vehicular position system. In this paper, general principle of map matching is investigated according to segmentation and feature extraction, and an algorithm based on D-S (Dempster-Shafer) evidence reasoning for GPS/MM integrated navigation system was proposed. A simulation example demonstrates the effectives of the algorithm for the car location and navigation. Firstly, the current status of Beijing-TIS Is reviewed. It is found that obvious gaps still exist compared with ATIS abroad. After defining the user services, a sound Beijing-TIS framework is proposed. It assembles real-time traffic information from the traffic management department, the taxi dispatch departments the police department, the transit management department and the first aid department to provide general and personal traveler information services through multiple dissemination media. General search algorithms assume that we can move around in the traffic network freely, so they extend the partial paths from the very last location to each of its neighbors to form more partial paths. The best partial paths are then selected to expand, unless die selected partial path happens to he a solution. Without proper guidance, this strategy way lead to inefficient planning algorithms when the way one can move around in the networks Is constrained. This scenario could happen in public transportation system where passengers cannot order drivers to change the routes of public buses to meet individual travel needs. A few recently proposed path-planning algorithms for public transportation systems capture the route constraints by matrices. Although they work for some applications, they are not perfect for cooperating with traditional algorithms; for best-path planning. Applying special properties of matrix multiplication, the author also employs matrices for capturing the route constraints. The author improves previous designs, and comes up with the so-called Q matrices that serve well in the A* algorithm for best-path planning under route constraints.","PeriodicalId":365722,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. In the system, integrated GPS/DR is used for continuous vehicle positioning. A digital road network map database is built for the whole Singapore. The database is designed to support map matching, route determination, and route guidance functions. The prototype system demonstrates GPS positioning of the vehicle in real-time, tracking the vehicle onto a digital map with fix updates every one or two seconds. With the map matched vehicle location on the map, voice and/or text guidance is provide to the driver. The vehicle position can also be transferred to control center through communication data link for the purpose of fleet management.","PeriodicalId":365722,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
