The cabin model is validated using a mock up in the climate chamber of the Institute of Vehicle Concepts at the German Aerospace Center. A virtual 20 kW fuel cell luggage tug has been created using Alternative Vehicles Library in Dymola. Heating concepts based on fuel cell thermal waste heat and conventional PTC heating strategies and compared using the virtual luggage tug model. The combination of waste heat and electric heating strategy led to the integration of a 60 liter enthalpy storage in the primary fuel cell cooling system. As a result, electric energy usage for heating is reduced by 60% while cabin temperature could be increased at 5 K up to 20 °C at -10 °C environmental conditions.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132240146","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hubner","doi":"10.1109/SMART.2015.7399220","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SMART.2015.7399220","url":null,"abstract":"The most common field of application of current electric vehicles is predominantly located in dense populated areas. For the road traffic between two urban areas, with the resulting high demands on range and vehicle velocity, current vehicles are used with high battery capacities (> 80 kWh), or internal combustion engines as range extender. The disadvantages of these two systems should be solved by a hybrid, zero-emission vehicle concept with hydrogen as energy carrier. Therefore a design methodology and associated tools have to be created in order to calculate a fuel cell powered vehicle based on the selected driving cycle and vehicle parameters. Within the internal DLR research project “Next Generation Car” (NGC), driving cycles will be received for the vehicle concept “Interurban Vehicle” (IUV). The driving cycles will be used for the purpose of designing the IUV with different operating strategies of the fuel cell. After identifying the dimensions of power and energy, the packaging requirements of the fuel cell, battery and hydrogen storage will be determined and the design dependent on the operating strategy will be proposed.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124162344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some cases, simple low-order aggregated battery pack models may be more appropriate and feasible than complex physic-chemical or high-order multi-cell battery pack models. For example: in early stages of the system design process, in non-focused battery applications, or whenever low configuration effort or low computational complexity is a requirement. The latter may be the case of Electrical Equivalent Circuit Models (EECM) suitable for energy optimization purposes at a system level in the context of energy management or sizing problem of energy storage systems. In this paper, an improved parametrization method for Li-ion linear static EECMs based on the so called concept of direct current resistance (DCR) is presented. By drawing on a DCR-based parametrization, the influence of both diffusion polarization effects and changing of Open-Circuit Voltage (OCV) are virtually excluded on the estimation of the battery's inner resistance. This results in a parametrization that only accounts for pure ohmic and charge transfer effects, which may be beneficial, since these effects dominate the battery dynamic power response in the range of interest of many applications, including electro-mobility. Model validation and performance evaluation is achieved in simulations by comparison with other low and high order EECM battery models over a dynamic driving profile. Significant improvements in terms of terminal voltage and power losses estimation may be achieved by a DCR-based parametrization, which in its simplest form may only require one short pulse characterization test within a relatively wide range of SoCs and currents. Experimental data from a 53 Ah Li-ion pouch cell produced by Kokam (Type SLPB 120216216) with Nickel Manganese Cobalt oxide (NMC) cathode material is used.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115681371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inverters dedicated to PV systems could be classified into two major topologies: (i) those equipped by a transformer and (ii) those without a transformer, the so-called: transformerless inverters (TIs). The latter were recognized to be more efficient in terms of energy efficiency and compactness. In spite of these performances, the integration of TIs in PV systems is compromised by some shortcomings, such as the circulation of a leakage current due to the absence of the galvanic isolation. This work considers a new single phase TI topology dedicated to PV systems. Beyond its energy efficiency capability and its null zero-crossing distortion, it has the merit to eradicate the leakage current. Following, the analysis of its operating sequences, the proposed TI topology is simulated in order to highlight its effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"44 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123410887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Moving Average Filter (MAF) based PLLs have received in recent three years considerable attention owing to their attractive features. Indeed, they are able to completely eliminate the unwanted effect of harmonics, dc offset, and unbalanced voltages. Unfortunately, these advantages are paid in term of open-loop bandwidth reduction which worsens the system's dynamic response. To overcome this limitation, a variety of improved MAF-PLLs schemes were developed to improve the dynamic response. The main objective of this paper is therefore to perform an assessment and a comparative study between the performances these new improved PLL schemes. The proposed study is based on numerical simulation carried out for five cases of grid disturbances.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128182849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The magnetic properties of lamination cores can be deteriorated by the influence of interlocking during the manufacturing process, causing extra core loss and reducing the efficiency. So it is crucial to minimize the extra loss by analyzing the interlocking performance of lamination core. This paper presents the performance of interlocking dowel by modelling the V-shape interlocking dowel with 2-D finite element method (FEM). The simulation results show that choosing a proper number of interlocking dowels with suitable locations can reduce the extra loss.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121709520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Randomness in energy generation, leading to wasted surpluses or long-spaced shortages, is an inescapable feature of renewable sources leading to inefficiency. This paper proposes a new “load-balancing” method to solve in the most comprehensive and universal manner the outstanding issues relating to the collection, storage and distribution of energy. Here hydrogen created from locally surplus energies is not just the fuel but also the carrier of energy with widespread hydrogen piping systems linking multiple sources and sinks. The outcome from the implementation of this proposed “Hydrogen Transmission Network” technology will primarily result in available, cheap and in theory unlimited energy in remote areas not yet reached by the electricity grid. Pure water and oxygen will be the local by-products. Populated areas will be influenced over time; allowing either a graceful degradation of the currently established high voltage power distribution systems, or mutually supportive existences. It is expected that in due course this proposed technology will reverse the current ratio of fossil fuel energy usage to renewable energy usage.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130703549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A specific hybrid PM memory motor is used as the prototype, and an experimental device is designed, which simulates the magnetic field environments around the PM materials in the memory motor. Working conditions and magnet fatigue of PM materials are then analyzed according to the experiment results. The results show that very weak magnet fatigue is observed in the ferrite magnets. In general, the performance of the PM materials is stable. In a worst-case scenario, when the hybrid PM memory motors work on a condition of continual speed regulation, the magnetic field regulation capability may slightly go worse.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130656588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dependence of force of armature displacement is strongly non-linear function. The system described and analysed in the paper is designed for large displacements of armature keeping force with reduced range of changes. Presented in the paper cascade system of actuators is only an example of actuator solution and it can be used in broad range of applications, including majority of applications in electrical drives. The results presented in the paper has been obtained by numerical modelling. ANSYS commercial software has been used as a tool for modelling. Classical Mechanical interfaces and APDL language allows comparative analysis of actuators. Presented results reflect static operation of actuators. It means operation at supplying by DC current and small frequency of actuator switching.","PeriodicalId":365573,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Sustainable Mobility Applications, Renewables and Technology (SMART)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130226447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
