And present its implementation using field programmable gate array. For the controller design, the bandwidth of voltage loop as the input voltage changes for PFC with and without input voltage feedforward will be analyzed. It will be shown that for the PFC without input voltage feedforward, the bandwidth of voltage loop varies as the input voltage changes. And the bandwidth of voltage loop for low line input is significantly reduced as it is designed based upon the high line input model. In contrast, the bandwidth of voltage loop of PFC for high line input is increased as it is designed based upon the low line input model. For the PFC with feedforward input voltage, the bandwidth of voltage loop retains constant for both low line and high line inputs and therefore no additional gains are required for universal input applications. This analysis provides a guideline for the design of PFC for universal input applications. Moreover, to fully take the advantages of digital control, an FPGA is used for the realization of digital-controlled PFC for universal input applications. Experimental results derived from an FPGA-based digital-controlled universal PFC are presented to fully support the presented PFC.","PeriodicalId":365141,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133660454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main idea of HPC is to derive an optimisation strategy which is based on a simple model of only a few production Key Performance Indicators (pKPI). The main challenge of the HPC approach is the derivation of an appropriate pKPI model, where the main steps are: data preprocessing, pKPI definition, input variables selection (IVS) and black-box modelling. In this paper we are focused on the problem of the selection of the most influential inputs, where the review of different IVS methods is given.","PeriodicalId":365141,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133982154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process of collecting the measurements, acquired by a sensor network into a central sink node, constitutes one of the main challenges in this area of research and is often referred to as the sensor reachback problem. In this work, we extend a recently proposed power and rate allocation algorithm so as to be able to take into account possible cooperation between the nodes in the WSN. The derived power and rate allocation algorithm considers Distributed Source Coding (DSC), in order to reduce the amount of information that must be transmitted to the sink. Under the assumption that there are several very bad channels between nodes and the sink, our method achieves both a lower peak power threshold, as well as reduced total power consumption.","PeriodicalId":365141,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133534334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The validation concerns the appliances under control. An Energy Management System globally controls the appliances of a house, satisfying the subscription power limits. A hardware-in-the-loop test bench, based on a real-time simulator called RT_LAB, is proposed to exemplify the validation mean: it is used to assess the performances of an energy management strategy for a thermal zone based on the control of a heater. Detailed fabrication and packaging techniques are presented. A Polytec laser Doppler vibrometer has been used to measure the transient and steady-state response of individual CMUT cells. The measured dynamic response results are in excellent agreement with analytical and 3-D electromechanical finite element analysis results. Experimental measurement also shows that the fabricated CMUTs exhibit a flat bandwidth within the specified frequency range. SEM inspection also shows very close agreement between mask features and fabricated geometry that ensures reproducibility of the device with a high degree of fidelity. The CMUT array has been designed for automotive blindspot detection application and works in the 113-167 kHz range.","PeriodicalId":365141,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116407875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a recently developed new multi - tiered hierarchical structure imposing the need for a distributed, low - complexity positioning algorithm. In this work we developed an integrated positioning scheme which involves an on-line calibration phase and a subsequent assessment of the parameters of a fuzzy inference system used to generate distance approximations based on RSSI values. In the calibration phase a sensor node is placed arbitrarily in a number of known positions and collects RSSI measurements from all anchor nodes. A data set consisting of RSSI values vs. distance is created and is used as training data set of the fuzzy inference system. Finally experimental results are presented which show the improvement achieved in the accuracy of the proposed scheme against other range-based schemes.","PeriodicalId":365141,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116809541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
