We analytically derive the maximum stable throughput of the scheme as well as the mean number of transmission attempts and the mean packet delay in a scenario with Poisson arrivals. The evaluation shows that the scheme is able of achieving a favorable performance in comparison to the scenarios when only either MPR or SIC with single-slot memory is used, making it a suitable candidate for an access solution in applications that are characterized with a massive number of users and sporadic traffic arrivals.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130364991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scenario involves the vehicles encountering a randomly moving obstacle on a two-lane road. Both vehicles are capable of making smart informed decisions in an autonomic manner. They may swerve right or remain in their lane. Additionally, the vehicle in the left lane may get past the obstacle. The combination of these actions leads to different outcomes, framed as non-cooperative non-zero-sum strategic games. First, we consider a static game of complete information and then introduce additional random elements, thus creating a Bayesian game. The games are analyzed using the Nash equilibrium (NE) as the solution concept, discussing the role of getting past the obstacle. The investigation on whether this action changes the outcome can determine whether not only it should be implemented as a potential response to emergencies, but also it should be shared as information to the other autonomous agents.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121533324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fortunately, multi-connectivity enabled mmWave networks provide us with the capability of catering to such stringent constraints. In a multi-connectivity enabled network where users (UEs) connect to multiple base stations (gNBs) that can simultaneously and rapidly switch data connection between them for optimal data delivery, it is vital to carefully select which gNBs the data should be placed at pre-emptively. Selectively placing data at multiple base stations (gNBs) can lead to a network which is more resilient to blockages and which minimizes data plane interruptions. In this paper, we use a Deep Learning agent that encodes a complex system state and then uses a Deep Q-Network (DQN) to find the optimal selection of gNBs where the UEs’ data should be placed. Our results show that using our Deep Learning agent, which essentially uses a vast amount of state information to pre-emptively predict the best selection of gNBs for future transmissions, delivers markedly better performance than other heuristic selection algorithms.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128000976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there are attempts for a wider application in all areas of higher education institutions, blockchain is encountering various difficulties, where we will try to describe some of them through this paper and clarify where are the problems based on the various researches that have been done in this direction. One thing is evident that the falsification of documents, especially diplomas in particular, is a phenomenon that even today exists, and methods must be taken to prevent such a phenomenon which is harmful to society. Part of the paper will also present some general models of how blockchain can be applied in higher education institutions and the same can be expanded with other institutions of the similar nature, forming a common chain for the protection against the possible falsification of diplomas. The paper describes the challenges that blockchain faces when applying to higher education institutions, and proposes a model for the protection against diploma forgery, theoretically offering a diploma management software based on blockchain. The practical implementation of blockchain in higher education institutions is encountering many difficulties, despite efforts, due to the immutability of data and the possibility of updating them.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125458137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is of vital importance to sustain the delivery of information in these applications. Underwater wireless sensor networks are main components of these applications, providing continuous delivery of data regarding to the area of interest. However, the harsh nature of underwater environment makes battery replacement impracticable and limits sensor nodes to rely on their battery supply. Therefore, energy consumption is a major concern in underwater sensor networks. To minimize the energy consumption of the network, clustering is an extensively studied technology in underwater sensor applications. Cluster heads (CHs) are selected aiming towards data aggregation and reduction of energy consumption of the network hence increasing network lifetime. In this UWSN, we consider stochastical energy harvesting processes at each sensor node for the energy-aware routing problem in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, a novel cluster head (CH) selection technique is proposed, and CHs are chosen by considering the nodes’ not only position, and residual energy but also expected harvested energy. Numerical results show that the proposed technique reduces energy consumption and extends the network lifetime considerably.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131046225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intent management addresses the network automation guided by requirements and constraints described to networks as intents submitted to an Intent Management Function (IMF). An IMF will then extract information from an intent and store it in a knowledge base. The knowledge base will be used by the IMF for inference and to fulfill requirements in the intent by setting goal(s) and trigger appropriate actions when needed. Since the knowledge base is a dynamic entity in an IMF, it is essential to keep track of changes and previous states and be able to apply changes on the knowledge base while keeping the main storage unchanged, e.g. for evaluation of different proposed action tracks, etc. In this paper we propose a solution for state management of a knowledge base. A prototype has been developed to prove the feasibility of the proposed solution and the evaluation results are presented.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116803843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sensor data, intended for inference by a deep learning (DL) model, will be reconstructed with some distortion by the remote user who received its compressed representation over a wireless channel. We study the robustness of the remote DL (RDL) model to the distortion-inducing lossy compression of the input, including the robustness under an adersarial attack. We are particularly interested in a novel data compression, known as learned compression (LC) due to the use of DL. Starting from MNIST images, we compare conventional compression (JPEG) with a published generative LC model under different compression ratios (CR). The generative LC, a hierarchical vector-quantized variational autoencoder, is state-of-the-art. With a CR up to 4 times that of JPEG’s, its reconstructions are achieving the same accuracy on a RDL MNIST classifier as with JPEG or uncompressed data. Also, RDL accuracy degrades gracefully with LC-induced information loss up to a remarkable CR. High compression allows for multiple generative LC descriptions: a single image generates many conditionally independent compressed representations of the same low rate. Their decompression creates randomized image reconstructions contributing the salient features needed in downstream RDL, and making it more robust.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":" 19","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120831936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper assesses the outage performance of the THz band Drone-to-Ground (D2G) vertical communications up to 100 m altitude at four practically feasible THz transmission windows (TWs): f1 = 0.140 THz; [0.110-0.170] THz, f2 = 0.300 THz; [0.275-0325] THz, f3 = 0.850 THz; [0.790-0.910] THz, and f4 = 0.935 THz; [0.930-03940] THz. We consider vertical D2G communication, where realistic THz-based absorption gains of the four THz TWs at the drone altitudes are obtained via the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) model using the Standard Weather Profile. Additionally, multipath (MP) fading and beam misalignment (BM) fading are incorporated into the overall channel gain for assessing the outage performance. Numerical results reveal that under severe BM fading and Rayleigh fading, THz band D2G communication employing 60 dBi total antenna gains at $f_{1}, f_{2}, f_{3}$, and f4 can be reliably established up to the drone altitudes: 76.9 m, 59.2m, 34.4 m, and 43.2 m, and up to 85.1 m, 60.3m, 36.9m, 45.5m under the severe BM fading and the presence of a strong Line-of-Sight component, truly showcasing the achievable altitude and range limits for the THz band D2G communications among 6G non-terrestrial cognitive networks.","PeriodicalId":363999,"journal":{"name":"2023 International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133886064","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
