However, the nonparametric bootstrap confidence interval estimation of the population mean has not yet been studied. In this study, confidence interval estimation based on percentile, simple, and biased-corrected bootstrap methods was compared in terms of coverage probability and average interval length via Monte Carlo simulation. The true values of parameter ()  were set as 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2, and the population means  are approximate 7.7586, 4.0909, 2.4000, 1.8817, and 1.6364, respectively. The bootstrap samples (=1,000)  of size  were generated from the original sample, and each simulation was repeated 1,000 times. The results indicate that attaining the nominal confidence level using the bootstrap confidence intervals was impossible for small sample sizes regardless of the other settings. Moreover, when the sample size was large, the performance of the nonparametric bootstrap confidence intervals was not substantially different. Overall, the bias-corrected bootstrap confidence interval outperformed the others, even for small sample sizes. Last, the nonparametric bootstrap confidence intervals were used to calculate the confidence interval for the population mean of the zero-truncated Poisson-Lindley distribution via two numerical examples, the results of which match those from the simulation study.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83321462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Knowing the weight-bearing condition would be helpful to improve balance of the body to prevent the risk. The “Smart Walk Trainer” equipment has been developed for analyzing the imbalance weight-bearing conditions of both standing and walking manner. It consists of \"Force Sensitive Resistor\" (FSR) sensors to measure the weight-bearing of the foot, the controlling and processing system of the NI USB-6009 multifunction I/O hardware, and LabVIEW software. The study using this equipment aims to examine the differences between young and elderly subjects in terms of weight-bearing and balance assessment. The result showed the roll_factor of the elderly deviated greatly from the balance point (Right: Mean = -0.72, SD = 1.4; Left: Mean=0.78, SD=1.41) when compared to the young subjects (Right: Mean = 0.01, SD = 0.56; Left: Mean=-0.19, SD = 0.49) which corresponded to the risk of falling in the elderly. The equipment also provides specialists with enhanced clarity regarding weight distribution patterns, enabling them to identify any abnormalities and then provide targeted exercise recommendations to strengthen specific muscles and promote improved balance for fall prevention.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87358960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we obtained crude extracts from vegetable wastes, including yard-long bean leaf, pumpkin peel, and Chinese kale leaf, and studied their efficacies of those crude extracts to inhibit the bacteria, and investigated their phytochemicals using Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The efficacy of the crude vegetable extracts in inhibiting bacteria was evaluated based on the size of the inhibition zone. The results showed that the pathogenic bacteria isolated from the infected Nile tilapia fish was Exiguobacterium indicum presenting yellow colony. This species showed the highest inhibition activity at 15.33 mm from Chinese kale leaf crude extract. After testing antibacterial activity, crude extract from Chinese kale leaf had the highest antibacterial efficiency; however, there was no significant difference (P>0.05) with yard-long bean leaf extract. Phytochemical studies of all three vegetable wastes showed that crude extracts from Chinese kale leaves and yard-long bean leaves contained high quantities of 3,7,11,15-Tetramethyl-2-hexadecen-1-ol Phytol, 9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid, (Z,Z,Z)-, Butyl 9,12,15-octadecatrienoate, and Ethyl 9,12 ,15-octadecatrienoate in high quantity to antimicrobials, which are antimicrobials. In contrast, upon studying the phytochemical compounds, it was found that the crude extracts from yard-long bean leaves contained the highest number of various compounds. Several contents in the atheromatous plaque have been identified, but some have not yet been quantified. This is especially true for lipids. This study aims to compare the histology, vascular wall contents of the cerebral artery ipsilateral to the hemorrhagic lesion, and hemorrhagic parenchyma to that of the contralateral and the control. The A1, M1, and P1 segments of cerebral arteries from twelve stroke cadavers and those from eight control cadavers were used in this study. All segments were prepared for H&E, Sudan black B, trichrome, and modified Verhoeff’s Van Gieson stains and were then analyzed for vascular parameters, lipid area, collagen area, and elastic density, respectively. The results show that the wall areas of A1 and P1 ipsilateral to hemorrhagic lesions were significantly larger than those of the contralateral. The areas of the vascular lumen of M1 ipsilateral and contralateral to the hemorrhagic lesion were significantly smaller than that of the control. The largest lipid area was found in the ipsilateral M1 among the three groups. The collagen area in the ipsilateral M1 was significantly larger than that of the control. Finally, the elastic fibers in all ipsilateral segments had significantly less density than that of the control. The nervous parenchyma contralateral to the hemorrhage was shown to be an impaired tissue. In conclusion, high accumulations of lipids and collagen, along with low elastic density in the ipsilateral M1, might have reduced the size of its lumen and its flexibility, potentially resulting in a hypertensive hemorrhage.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83347062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Addition of plasticizers to tamarind kernel polysaccharide led to changes in tensile strength, elastic modulus, and elongation at break of the films. The tensile strength of films containing polyethylene glycol 400, glycerol, sorbitol, tween 20 and span 20 was lower than films containing tween 80, tween 40 and non-plasticized film. Sorbitol-plasticized film exhibited the best mechanical properties with lowest tensile strength, 6.07 MPa and highest elongation at break 5.91%. Film containing sorbitol also showed highest optical transparency, while polyethylene glycol 400 and glycerol exhibited lowest transparency and highest whiteness index. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) revealed that incorporation of plasticizers increased the mobility of the polymer chains. The addition of sorbitol, glycerol, and tween 20 reduced the glass transition temperature of tamarind kernel polysaccharide film from 49.81 to 20.97, 42.41 and 42.92 °C, respectively. Sorbitol proved to be an effective plasticizer for improving flexibility and enhancing the optical property of tamarind kernel polysaccharide film. As a result of the research, it was discovered that tamarind kernel polysaccharide film plasticized with sorbitol has the potential to be used in the creation of biopolymer film for culinary and biomedical applications.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87463384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Human emotion analysis and recognition have been popular study areas among computer vision researchers. High dimensionality, execution time, and cost are the main difficulties in human emotion detection. To deal with these issues, the proposed model aims to design a human emotion recognition model using Residual Networks-101 (ResNet-101). A Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) design called ResNet-101 solves the vanishing gradient issue and makes it possible to build networks with thousands of convolutional layers that outperform networks with fewer layers. An image dataset was used for this emotion recognition. Then, this image dataset was subjected to preprocessing to resize the image and eliminate the noise contents present in the images. After preprocessing, the image was given to the classifier to recognize the emotions effectively. Here, ResNet-101 was used for the classification of six classes. The experimental results demonstrate that ResNet-101 models outperform the most recent techniques for emotion recognition. The proposed model was executed in MATLAB software and carried out several performance metrics. The proposed architecture attained better performance in terms of accuracy 92% and error with 0.08 and other performances like 92% of precision, 85% of specificity and 98% of sensitivity so on, and this shows the effectiveness of the proposed model to existing approaches such as LeNet, AlexNet and VGG. In comparison to current techniques, the suggested model provides improved recognition accuracy for low intensity or mild emotional expressions.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87208306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of cell-free culture obtained from Pseudomonas aeruginosa SWUC02 (CF-SWUC02) against Staphylococcus aureus, a common pathogen associated with food poisoning outbreaks. The antagonistic activity of P. aeruginosa SWUC02 and CF-SWUC02 against various pathogenic bacteria, particularly S. aureus, was assessed. The active antimicrobial compounds produced by P. aeruginosa SWUC02 demonstrated resistance to protease enzymes and high temperatures. Optimal culture conditions for inhibiting S. aureus were determined as LB media supplemented with 0.01% CuCl2, inoculated with 1x105 CFU.mL-1 of P. aeruginosa SWUC02, and incubated at 32°C with agitation (100 rpm) for 12 days. Eighty-six S. aureus isolates were collected from household environments and tested for antibiotic resistance, with 55 isolates exhibiting resistance to penicillin, and 17 isolates were  identified as methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). CF-SWUC02 demonstrated inhibitory effects against all S. aureus isolates, including MRSA. In conclusion, CF-SWUC02 displayed antagonistic activity against drug resistant S. aureus, suggesting its potential as a valuable resource for combating these pathogens. Furthermore, the presence of heat and protease stable antimicrobial compounds in CF-SWUC02 highlights the need for further investigation to explore their potential applications in the field of antimicrobial research.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76483301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During peak load period, expensive generation units are determined to be turned on to provide sufficient electricity supply and sufficient spinning reserve. During light load period, generation units could not be unloaded due to their minimum up/down time, startup time and startup cost, causing uneconomic operation of the generating capacities. This excess capacity during light load period can be stored in the energy storage system (ESS) and the power can be released to supply the peak load demand hours to avoid turning on the next expensive unit which resulted in higher marginal cost. Performing as virtual power plant (VPP), ESS owners can seek for market opportunities to enter electric supply industry. This paper aims for proposing an optimal operation of VPP with charging/discharging ESS plan when marginal cost identifies real-time pricing (RTP) at each hour to be used as buying/selling price to VPP. Under strategically charging/discharging scheme, both parties, i.e., utility, and VPP, can achieve benefits in terms of better economic operation, lower system generation cost, increase operational income, while environmental impact is considered. The proposed method is tested on a ten-unit system under a centralized power market structure. Numerical results show that appropriate charging/discharging strategy could provide lower total production cost and offer opportunities for ESS owners as VPPs to obtain arbitrage marginal cost.","PeriodicalId":36369,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Current Science and Technology","volume":"62 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89838628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
