RUEDA-ALMONACID","doi":"10.22201/fc.25942158e.2022.3.484","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22201/fc.25942158e.2022.3.484","url":null,"abstract":"We here describe a new species of the genus Caecilia from Caquetá, Colombia, whose most salient characters are its large size, its very high counts of primary and secondary grooves, the presence of dermal scales throughout its body length, the size and arrangement of its mandibular teeth, and its lack of an unsegmented terminal shield. {"title":"PRESENCIA DE METALES PESADOS EN ANUROS DE LA PORCIÓN SUR DE LA SELVA LACANDONA, CHIAPAS, MÉXICO","authors":"Oscar Miguel Mendoza Velázquez, José Manuel Aranda Coello, Carlos Gutiérrez Olvera","doi":"10.22201/fc.25942158e.2022.3.495","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.22201/fc.25942158e.2022.3.495","url":null,"abstract":"Actualmente existe una creciente preocupación ecológica y de salud pública mundial asociada con la contaminación ambiental, en particular la provocada por agroquímicos y metales pesados; siendo así que en muchas partes del mundo los anfibios están amenazados por uno o más de estos compuestos y elementos químicos creados por el ser humano o que existen de manera natural, que se liberan al medio ambiente. Por tal motivo, a partir de entrevistas semiestructuradas fueron identificados los agroquímicos utilizados en dos ejidos ubicados frente a la porción sur de la Reserva de la Biosfera Montes Azules (REBIMA) y se evidencia la dependencia del uso de agroquímicos en la región; en el laboratorio con el método de espectrofotometría de absorción atómica se identificó la presencia de cinco metales: Plomo (Pb), Cadmio (Cd), Mercurio (Hg), Zinc (Zn) y Cobre (Cu), y un metaloide: Arsénico (As), en hígado y piel de tres especies de anuros. Falco sparverius es un ave rapaz de tamaño pequeño con una distribución muy amplia en todo continente americano, siendo considerada como migratoria de invierno en la Península de Yucatán. We discuss certain aspects of intraspecific variation of this species and denote its great morphological similarity to O. polyzona, which we consider as its potential sister species. En esta familia, se sabe que Cupiennius coccineus, una de las especies más grandes del género, es depredadora de ranas. Tres de 15 eventos de depredación de ranas por arañas en Costa Rica fueron causados por esta especie que habita en la vegetación. Una rana hílida común en Costa Rica es la rana arborícola Smilisca sordida que normalmente se alimenta en la vegetación baja en áreas boscosas cerca de quebradas. Body raising is characterized by inflation of the lungs. We describe the body raising behaviour of Rhinella castaneotica during climbing behaviour from Amazonian rainforest in the state of Amapá, northern Brazil. Climbing behaviour is a common ability in dendrobatids and bufonids, but the body raising is not recognized to occur in synergy in R. castaneotica.
