Two types of industrial wastes in Egypt (i.e., ceramic waste (Cr) and blast furnace slag (S)) were used as additional stabilizers to cement (C), while agricultural waste (i.e., flax fiber (f)) was used as reinforcement. The experimental work was all done in the laboratory of Cairo University, faculty of engineering. It was divided into three phases; the first phase was done to select the optimum conditions for the production of compressed earth cubes, the second was done to select the optimum mixes for each stabilizer, while the third included the investigation of the characteristics of CSEBs produced from the optimum mixes. The results indicate that ceramic powder and/or slag could be used as stabilizers with cement and their optimum percentage to use is 10 % by weight of soil and binders and using a blend of slag and ceramic powder is better than using any of them alone. CSEBs could be reinforced flax fibers and its optimum percentage is 1 % by volume of the mix.","PeriodicalId":360790,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Business Sciences","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131268701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This concrete provides technical and environmental benefits, so it is intended for use in the next millennium. Density is frequently more important than strength for lightweight concrete structural applications. A lower density at the same strength level reduces “self-weight”, \"foundation size,\" and construction expenses. In addition, using lightweight concrete as opposed to standard weight concrete could provide additional benefits such as heat and sound insulation. A special type of \"self-cured lightweight concrete\" has been developed to utilize the voids in lightweight aggregate's water reservoirs for curing. The experimental investigation of the structural behavior of lightweight concrete as a function of concrete type and bonding was conducted. Cubes and cylinders were employed in the experimental investigation. Concrete type (normal weight concrete and lightweight concrete) and cement content (350, 400, and 450 kg/m3) were considered as test variables.","PeriodicalId":360790,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Business Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122503216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cost monitoring and control in the construction firm is one of the significant processes of cost management practices that are required for the survival and growth of every construction firm. A lack of sufficient construction cost monitoring and control by construction firms contributes largely to construction cost overruns. Despite all the efforts made to control cost, some construction firms still continue to unrealize their expected profit margin at the end of the project completion, due to the fact that many construction firms’ cost control systems and models are not sufficient. This study provides a model of processes for enhancing cost monitoring and control in construction firms by making the integration of cost estimation and cost control and helping the managers to evaluate the performance and control resource consumption through output reports like cost report, productivity report, and wastage report. The model shows the inputs required as cost estimation for different project resources, and processing required to make cost baseline, actual cost, and coding system","PeriodicalId":360790,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Business Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116281420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to use CHP units more efficiently, the economic dispatch problem (EDP) is applied to obtain the optimal power and heat sources’ outputs to satisfy heat and power demands while meeting the different operational constraints. The problem is nonlinear and non-convex which requires heuristic technique to be used to solve this complex problem. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is utilized due to its effectiveness in solving complex problems due to its high convergence speed with less number of iterations. The EDP main objective is to obtain optimal output power and heat of each unit while the total generation cost is minimized. The obtained results justify the superiority of the proposed method in solving such complicated problems.","PeriodicalId":360790,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Advanced Engineering and Business Sciences","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126459856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
