A cluster successive relaying (CSR) transmission scheme is applied to efficiently deliver information in this network. Different from existing works on the CSR scheme which normally divide each layer of relays into two alternatively activated equal-size clusters, we allow the clusters to contain different numbers of terminals in order to properly involve all available relays into the transmission process. Using the channel-extension based interference alignment technique, it is shown that the asymptotically achievable sum DoF can be larger than the previously known results and hence can serve as a new lower bound to the optimally achievable sum DoF in the considered relay network.","PeriodicalId":360054,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129694976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of 20 dB coverage extension compared to EDGE poses significant challenges for the initial network synchronization, which has to be performed well below the thermal noise floor, down to an SNR of −8.5 dB. We present a low-complexity synchronization algorithm supporting up to 50 kHz initial frequency offset, thus enabling the use of a low-cost ±25 ppm oscillator. This similarity function is the key in the Affinity Propagation Clustering (APC) scheme to adequately representing the homogeneity of traffic dynamics of VANET. In contrast to the previous research on APC scheme for VANET, our proposal does not associate any un-stable future prediction term. We also applied recently introduced Cellular V2X radio capability in this study, which significantly contributed to the reduction of communication latency. In conducting simulations, Gazis-Herman-Rothery (GHR) car following model was applied on the real sampled traffic data. The simulation resulted remarkable effects on the normalized multidimensional parameters along with successful VANET clustering. This high resolution can be achieved using large signal-bandwidth, leading to superior time resolution and / or multiple antennas, leading to additional angle resolution. To facilitate multiple antennas, phase-coherent measurements are typically necessary. In this work we propose to employ non-phase-coherent measurements obtained from directional antennas for accurate single-anchor indoor positioning. The derived algorithm exploits beampatterns to jointly estimate multipath amplitudes to be used in maximum likelihood position estimation. Our evaluations based on measured and computer generated data demonstrate only a minor degradation in comparison to a phase-coherent processing scheme.","PeriodicalId":360054,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133716021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) where a vehicle communicates with neighboring vehicles via vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, the developed algorithm utilizes three types of measurements, which are the pairwise relative distance, angle of arrival, and absolute positions for a subset of vehicles in cooperative localization. We first investigate the conventional DoA estimation algorithms in mmWave MIMO systems and evaluate its performance. Then we introduce the Power pROfile Based Estimation (PROBE) algorithm for DoA estimation that operates in the RF lens-embedded system. Industries nowadays, are interested in introducing less costly and highly controllable AVs to public. Current so-called AVP solutions are still limited to a very short range (e.g., even only work at the entrance of car parks). This paper proposes a parking scheduling scheme for long-range AVP (LAVP) case, by considering mobility of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs), fuel consumption and journey time. In LAVP, Car Parks (CPs) are used to accommodate increasing numbers of AVs, and placed outside city center, in order to avoid traffic congestions and ensure road safety in public places. Furthermore, with positioning of reference points to guide user-centric long-term driving and drop-off/pick-up passengers, simulation results under the Helsinki city scenario shows the benefits of LAVP. The advantage of LAVP system is also reflected through both analysis and simulation.","PeriodicalId":360054,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125027571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both the source and relays intend to transmit dedicated information to the destination. The source, without direct reliable channels to the destination, needs the relays to forward signals, while the relays are short of energy and have to harvest energy from the source to transmit their own data and relaying the source's data. Relays use time division to harvest then transmit. For the multiple access channel (MAC) from the relays to the destination, we consider both time division multiple access (TDMA) between the relays and simultaneous transmission (ST) by all relays. The source and the relays are all selfish and aim to maximize their own utility. We take a game theoretic viewpoint to model the hierarchical competition between the source and the relays. In particular, multi-leader Stackelberg games are formulated where the relays play as the leaders and the source plays as the follower. The existence and the uniqueness of Stackelberg equilibrium (SE) are analyzed, based on which algorithms are proposed to achieve the SE. The numerical results verify that the proposed algorithms improve the system performance comparing to the baseline scheme.","PeriodicalId":360054,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129442843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Low end-to-end packet latency is a fundamental requirement for proper operation of those applications, but may be compromised in packet buffers shared with elastic applications that use greedy TCP sources for end-to-end transport. The accumulation of queuing delay by the elastic application degrades the latency for the interactive application, however light the throughput of the latter may be (as is the case with online gaming and over-the top voice). Buffer sharing is unavoidable in the RLC layer of the 3GPP RAN stack. To minimize its negative effect on interactive applications, we split the buffering between the RLC and PDCP layers. Then we equip the PDCP buffer with per-flow queues, and apply to the RLC buffer a new dynamic sizing mechanism that enforces the lowest queuing delay that is compatible with the existing configuration of the RLC connection. On a cellular link shared with a greedy TCP flow, our dynamic sizing solution can reduce the queuing delay of PING packets by up to two orders of magnitude compared to the default configuration with an RLC-only buffer of fixed size.","PeriodicalId":360054,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)","volume":"8 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128845578","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The IETF recently proposed Multiple TCP (MPTCP) as an extension of the standard TCP protocol to enable UEs to deliver data streams across multiple connections simultaneously. By combining multipath mobile data offloading with MPTCP, operators have the ability to adjust the cellular bandwidth assigned to the users in accordance with their WiFi connection status, thereby saving valuable LTE resources while simultaneously ensuring the quality of service (QoS) of the transmission. Accordingly, this study proposes a dynamic bandwidth reallocation scheme which reduces the cellular bandwidth allocated to a UE when WiFi access is available and reassigns the saved LTE bandwidth to other UEs with no WiFi connection. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated by means of numerical simulations. It is shown that the proposed method successfully reduces both the deadline miss ratio of deadline assurance services and the amount of idle LTE bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":360054,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125549383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
