People can freely exchange information on these platforms. However, not all information is reliable. To make correct decisions, it is necessary to detect and remove unreliable information. The main purpose of this study is to improve the reliability of hotel ranking by detecting and deleting outlier on-line reviews. For this purpose, we design a support vector regression (SVR) based outlier detector using existing on-line reviews. Intuitively, normal reviews are regular, and can be correctly labeled by the SVR detector. Outlier reviews, on the other hand, are usually not regular, and cannot be correctly labeled. Thus, a well-designed SVR-detector can help us to delete outlier reviews automatically. Results obtained in this study are useful not only for hotel ranking. In principle it can be good for recommendation of any services.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126328481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While preprocessing of clone detection plays an important role in KDD for further processing as the old saying goes: well begun is half done. However, processing unstructured source code files of large software systems is really challenging and time or space consuming. This paper introduces a novel way to clean, tokenize and transform the source code into the appropriate form for mining. A tool called OPP (One Pass Preprocessor) has been developed to preprocess the source code files efficiently and flexibly. The paper experimented on three large open source projects like Wildfly1.02 Linux core-3.6, VTK of different host languages, and the result showed that our tool has great power and flexibility to preprocess the source code files and products high quality output.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114987946","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study proposes a method of awareness of human activities by detecting state change of room equipment, which includes doors, chairs, desks, a light and a fridge. A characteristic of the proposed method is an indirect recognition method in the sense that it does not employ the human motion data. In this study we deal with an action estimation and a movement locus estimation as the tasks on the awareness of human activities. Two simulation experiments have been done to evaluate the proposed method. As the results, we show that the proposed method can estimate human actions with a precision rate of 66.7% and with a recall rate of 72.7%. Also we show the movement locus of human in a room can be approximately estimated.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123008437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer, and gastro-enteritis are just a few examples. To reduce these diseases, diet management is becoming an indispensable part in our daily lives. The main purpose of this study is to build a diet management system that can provide the user's correct nutritional information based on recipe ontology. In this paper, we construct a recipe ontology that defines various food nutrients needed for healing some common diseases, and an inference engine that can, given the user's health conditions as well as his/her preferences, recommend a proper recipe based on the recipe ontology.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124738256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, improvement of the camera model structure is indispensible for more precise measurement. In this study, we propose a camera modeling technique for 3D sensing based on tile coding (CMAC) structure. A distance between a sensing target and the camera is used to construct the camera model considering optical projection characteristics. In our approach, the least mean square error method is successfully applied considering the simple tile structure to formulate the camera model. Then iterative calculations for solving the inverse problem of the 3-D to 2-D projection by camera are performed to attain measured 3D coordinates. Through 3D sensing experiments of stereo vision measurement based on the proposed approach, we showed the proposed model drastically improved the modeling performance compared with the conventional modeling approach such as Open CV model and crisp partitioned model.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130729096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We proposed an approximate l0 norm based signal reconstruction algorithm in this paper. It not only can convert the classical constrained l0 minimization problem of the compressive sampling theory into an unconstrained optimization problem, but also can reduce the dimension of the search space substantially. The experiment results have shown that our proposed algorithm can improve the sparse signal reconstruction performance while maintaining appropriate signal reconstruction efficiency.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"694 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122982451","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Steganography is one of the effective mechanisms to protect ones privacy and secrets. Recently, we proposed a morphing based steganography, in which a morphed image is used as the cover image, the encryption key, as well as the stego-key. A key point to ensure the security is the “naturalness” of the morphed images. To obtain natural images through morphing, we may manually specify the feature points in the given reference images. This, however, is a very tedious task in practice. To increase the efficiency, we study in this paper automatic feature point detection based on neural networks (NNs). In this method, the difference between a sub-image A and a sub-image B is used as the input of the NN, and the output is the estimated difference between the coordinates of the centers of A and B. Thus, if B is centered by one of the feature points, and the NN is properly designed, we can obtain an estimated coordinate of the corresponding feature point directly from the NN output, given A-B as the input. This paper introduces the process for obtaining the training data and the teacher signals, and provides some initial experimental results to verify the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"233 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117321991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The elevated levels of carbon dioxide make dramatic changes of climate. Global climate is suffering from environmental crises. High concentrations of carbon dioxide levels will have a bad effect on the environment and human may cause hypoxia, numb hands and feet, lose consciousness or even death. In this paper, we will set up a system to monitor the ambient air quality at indoor applications which using carbon dioxide detectors to combine mobile devices and networks to detect air quality. Users can get information by using a mobile phone or computer to read QR code or mobile communication confirm whether the places are safe and comfortable environments. Equipment such as X-rays, computerized axial tomography, etc. can pollute the system due to their high level of harmonics production, which may cause a number of undesirable effects like heating, equipment damages and electromagnetic interferences. The conventional approach of mitigation uses passive inductor/capacitor (LC) filters, which has some drawbacks such as, large sizes and resonance problems. The current trends of solutions generally employ active power filters using suitable control algorithms. This work focuses on assessing the level of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) on medical facilities and various ways of mitigation, using radiology unit of an existing hospital as a case. Measurements are conducted with a power quality analyzer at the point of common coupling (PCC). The levels of measured THDs are found to be higher than the IEEE 519-1992 standard limits. For mitigation, a shunt active filter is developed using synchronous detection algorithm to extract the fundamental component of the source currents. Fuzzy logic controller is then developed to control the filter. The THD without the active power filter are validated using the measured values. The THD with the developed filter show that the harmonics are now within the recommended limits.","PeriodicalId":359404,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 6th International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125992116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is, however, not very common for people to refer to these coordinates but intuitive spatial relations such as `at', `around', `along', etc. in their casual communication. Such natural concepts are considered to reflect human cognitive activities toward the world. Therefore they can be subjective to each human individual but as well can be common to the human beings in the macroscopic qualities of their conceptualization.
