The composite materials may be differentiated from alloys; which can contain two more components but are formed naturally through different processes such as casting. The load applied on the specimen during the tests, is playing a very important role regarding friction coefficient and also the wearing speed. Sintered composites are gaining importance because the reinforcement serves to reduce the coefficient of thermal expansion and increase the strength and modulus. The friction tests are carried out, at the room temperature in dry condition, on a pin-on-disc machine. The exponentially decreasing areas form graphs, represented to the curves coefficient of friction, are attributed to the formation of lubricant transfer film and initial polishing surface samples. The influence of the orientation of the carbon fibers on the friction properties in the sintered polymer composites may be studied by the use of both mechanical wear tests by microscopy and through the use of phenomenological models.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. Many surface roughness parameters that can be used to analyse a surface, but the most common surface roughness parameter used is the average roughness (Ra). This paper presents the experimental results obtained at micro milling of the C45W steel and the ways to determine the Ra parameter with respect to the working conditions. The chemical characteristics of the material were determined from a spectral analysis, chemical composition was measured at one point and two points, graphical and tabular. A profilometer Surtronic 3+ was used to examine the surface roughness profiles; the effect of independent parameters can be investigated and can get a proper relationship between the Ra parameter and the process variables. The mathematical model were developed, using multiple regression method with four independent variables D, v, ap, fz; the analysis was done using statistical software SPSS. The ANOVA analysis of variance and the F- test was used to justify the accuracy of the mathematical model. The multiple regression method was used to determine the correlation between a criterion variable and the predictor variables. The prediction model can be used for micro milling process optimization.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. The shortening of a development cycle became a necessity if the company would like to be competitive. Because of switching to the Intelligent Manufacturing model the industry search for new scheduling algorithms, while the traditional ones do not meet the current requirements. The agent-based approach has been considered by many researchers as an important way of evolution of modern manufacturing systems. Due to the properties of the multi-agent systems, this methodology is very helpful during creation of the model of production system, allowing depicting both processing and informational part. The complexity of such approach makes the analysis impossible without the computer assistance. Computer simulation still uses a mathematical model to recreate a real situation, but nowadays the 2D or 3D virtual environments or even virtual reality have been used for realistic illustration of the considered systems. This paper will focus on robotized manufacturing system and will present the one of possible approaches to the simulation of such systems. The selection of multi-agent approach is motivated by the flexibility of this solution that offers the modularity, robustness and autonomy.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. The goal of the project is to elongate the period between repairs (by better corrosion protection) and improve conditions of exploitation of modernized freight wagons (for example easier unloading during winter conditions - no freezes of the charge to the freight wagon body shell). Application of the composite panels to the freight wagon's body shell was proposed as the solution that can solve mentioned problems. The composite panels composed of fiberglass and epoxy resin were proposed. They will be mounted on the body shell using rivet nuts. What is more the body shell of the modernized freight wagon will be painted using an anti-corrosion agent. In this paper the analysis of a flammability of the proposed composition (the composite plate made of fiberglass and epoxy resin mounted to the steel sheet with additional anticorrosion agent) is presented. In the paper results of laboratory tests conducted according to international standards are presented. A series of samples of elements of modernized freight wagons was tested using the created laboratory stand. Obtained results were averaged and the proposed material was assigned to the one of the class of materials for their combustibility.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. This article aims to show the possibilities of improving energy efficiency by introducing technical and technological process changes of pine lumber drying. The object of the research is process of drying lumber implemented in a production company, which is a key supplier of large furniture manufacturer. Pine lumber drying chamber consume about 45% of total electricity in sawmill. According to various sources, drying of 1m3 of lumber uses about 3060kWh and is dependent of inter alia: the drying process itself, the factors affecting the processing time and the desired output moisture content of the timber. The article proposals for changes in the process of drying lumber pine have been positively validated in the company, and as a result their energy consumption per 1 m3 of product declined by 18%.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. The classical approaches to establish the elevator kinematic parameters are position, velocity and acceleration, but the last studies performed in order to determine the positioning performed by introducing supplementary another parameter - the jerk- which is derived with respect to time of acceleration. Thus we get a precise method for cage motion control for third-order trajectory planning.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. Wear occurs due to the parameters variation of the working regimes, fact that involves in order to not overcoming the limits of the maximum allowable wear, application of methods, to increase their durability. In order to increase the cutting tools durability are known various methods of surface coating with materials with better properties than the material of the cutting tool. In the case of cutting inserts, are known many researches concerning their coating by vacuum deposition of thin layers of metal, methods as: physical vapour deposition and chemical vapour deposition. The coatings realized by vacuum deposition have gained special attention because of their unique physical and chemical properties for example excellent resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. The main characteristics which are checked in the deposition process of thin layers are: thickness and the wear resistance. In this study the authors carried out researches regarding the coatings of AlTiN in thin layers, on surface of some cutting inserts. It was measured the variation of the wear and durability compared with the thickness of AlTiN thin layers deposited on the cutting inserts.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. The issue with such alloys is the degradation rate witch has to be improved in order to provide the necessary support for the entire duration of the bone fraction healing. For improving the bone shielding heat treatment does not represent a solution, but chemical and/or mechanical do. One mechanical process that has excellent result is burnishing, but this process is difficult to be implemented on a milling machine. Therefore, it was necessary that a new tool and tool holder to be developed, that allow the simultaneous process to take place. A high-pressure hydraulic roller burnishing tool with a special tool holder was used on a CNC milling machine. The material used for this study is magnesium alloy AZ31B-F, and one of the main purposes was to improve the material hardness (HV). The milling-burnishing parameters that where varied are the speed and feed, burnishing pressure and depth, type of process (successive or simultaneous), machining direction and the material hardness after milling. The results were analyzed as percentage improvement between the milling and burnishing measured values.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used today on a large scale in research and academic institutions. CFD development is not limited to computer simulations of fluid flow phenomena. Analytical solutions for most fluid dynamics problems are already available for ideal or simplified situations for different situations. CFD is based on the Navier- Stokes (N-S) equations characterizing the flow of a single phase of any liquid. For multiphase flows the integrated N-S equations are complemented with equations of the Volume of Fluid Model (VOF) and with energy equations. Different turbulent models were used in the paper, each one of them with practical engineering applications: the flow around aerodynamic surfaces used as unconventional propulsion system, multiphase flows in a settling chamber and pneumatic transport systems, heat transfer in a heat exchanger etc. Some of them numerical results were validated by experimental results. Numerical programs are also used in academic institutions where certain aspects of various phenomena are presented to students (Bachelor, Master and PhD) for a better understanding of the phenomenon itself.","PeriodicalId":359151,"journal":{"name":"IOP Conf.
