The state of tourist infrastructure near waterfalls was analyzed in the study. For the first time the tendency and share of attraction of waterfalls by tour operators in programs of thematic geotours and mass excursion tours in the Carpathians were analyzed. A number of expert recommendations have been developed for regional authorities on the protection of waterfalls through the further development of the geoheritage network (opening small geoparks and local geodestinations with the status of “protected tracts”), the inclusion of attractive waterfalls in the branding and PR-promotion of values, routes and trails of sustainable geotourism in the Eastern Carpathians.","PeriodicalId":35652,"journal":{"name":"GEOGRAFICKY CASOPIS-Geographical Journal","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2021-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70011530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social networking has become an integral part of everyday practices. The goal of the study was to identify spatial patterns and features of the functioning and development of social networking services, as well as the practice of social networking, among young people in Western Ukraine. The research was based on a survey conducted among geography students from the universities located in the region. There are no significant intraregional fluctuations in the penetration and use of social networking services. The results revealed a sharp dominance of three social media (Instagram, Telegram and Facebook) over the others. The social life of students is characterized by multi-networking. Social networking services have a variety of uses, including the most popular like communication with friends, entertainment and reading the news. The smallest deviations from the regio-nal average values were found for communication with friends, while the biggest differences are typical for creating own content, reading the news and communicating with people abroad.","PeriodicalId":35652,"journal":{"name":"GEOGRAFICKY CASOPIS-Geographical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2021-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70011574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper is to illustrate how the time geography could be used as an approach to identify individuals’ behavioural patterns. Data were collected from a small sample of Slovaks from Vojvodina (n=34) and subsequently analysed in relation to certain situations in time and space (place). Semi-structured interviews and time-space records were used in constructing 3D life-paths and life chart. Using time geography approach we provide a certain amount of information enabling generation of a broader picture of person’s life to identify social, economic and behavioural aspects (including motivation to migrate) affected in some cases by war conflicts in former Yugoslavia, in others by post-war subsequent political, legal, social and economic changes. The findings of the research show that this kind of „the life-path schemes“ helps describe a detailed life situation from one time period to another, where geographical sites serve as important „stations“ for Slovaks from Vojvodina who decided to spend a longer period in Slovakia or to settle down in a new homeland.","PeriodicalId":35652,"journal":{"name":"GEOGRAFICKY CASOPIS-Geographical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70011702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Income inequalities and their spatial determination are especially becoming more and more viral as a world- wide problem. The intention of this article is to present a brief review of relevant methods of income inequalities’ measurement in a spatial context. The overview of these methods presents a compilation of suitable approaches, classic and current methods suitable for a geographical analyses of researched inequalities. The study reviews a wide spectrum of methods with the help of which the knowledge of the most important aspects of income inequalities might be obtained. A scale of presented methods gives a needed methodological instrument by which we can catch, identify, and obtain knowledge about a current state and level of income inequalities in Slo- vakia too. The results obtained (and their correct selection and application) should be a part of analytical background for programmes and objectives aimed at an elimina- tion of substantial income inequalities. The intention of this article is to present a brief review of relevant methods of income ine- qualities’ measurement in a spatial context. These methods present a compilation of suitable approaches, classic and current methods suitable for geographical analyses of re- searched inequalities. The study reviews a wide spectrum of both older and newer methods to analyse and assess spatial aspects of income inequalities. Many of the reviewed methods, however, miss the spatial dimension. This could be tackled using a population - weighted formula of the method. Many previous studies stood with a population - weighted Theil T as the most suitable method to measure space - related income inequalities. Chinese geographers Wang et al. (2012) even produced an entirely new method to measure geographic inequalities – the PDI index – which might help future research of the phenomenon. A brief empirical research was also applied. It was found that the PDI index as well as Theil T index might be vital when measuring the geographical aspect of inequality.","PeriodicalId":35652,"journal":{"name":"GEOGRAFICKY CASOPIS-Geographical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2020-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70011650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A similar complex classification of ski resorts does not exist in Slovakia. The most papers have evaluated only ski infrastructure, other ser-vices respectively. The companies Sitour – Lavex have conducted a relatively complex ski resorts categorization. However, this was voluntary and for payment, consequently, in the last stage, it was utilized only by 25 ski resorts in Slovakia. The paper evaluates 96 ski resorts from the list of Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Deve -lopment. These have been completed by the resorts from portal www.holidayinfo.sk, that were in operation during the 2016/17 winter season. To create the classification of ski resorts, the TOPSIS – Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solu- tion method has been used. Five categories of the ski resorts have been classified. The ski resorts have been divided into particular categories according to the quality. This paper employs a landslide hazard assessment in the Košická kotlina basin, Eastern Slovakia, where the State Geologi- cal Institute of Dionýz Štúr registered 1 233 landslides within an area of 328 km 2 . Lithological conditions, elevation, slope, aspect, curvature, land cover and registered landslide raster datasets were evaluated and statistically processed for landslide ha zard assessment. The bivariate and multivariate conditional analysis was applied and the spatial distribution of the slope movement hazard calculated by using the methods of multivariate and bivariate analysis, which was classified into five classes by geo- metrical interval function. This data showed that the majority of the studied area is associated with a medium, high or very high degree of landslide hazard. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed in order to assess the accuracy of created models and validation pointed that the AUC (area under the curve) in case of multivariate analysis is equal to 0.886 and bivariate analysis to 0.846, which provided an accuracy of 88.6% conditions, elevation, slope, aspect, curvature, land cover and registered landslides) with a 10×10 meter pixel resolution. Two statistical analyses for land- slide hazard assessment were implemented: 1) bivariate analysis using the weights of input parameters and 2) multivariate conditional analysis. The results were reclassified into five classes of landslide hazard susceptibility (very low, low, moderate, high and very high) by geometrical interval function and expressed by two raster datasets which reflected the ha zard calculated by using the multivariate and bivariate classification. Furthermore, data showed that the majority of the evaluated area belongs to the medium, high or very high degree of landslide hazard, which was 45.23% of the total study area for multivariate analysis and 56.85% for bivariate analysis. Validation pointed to a landslide prediction accuracy to 92.81% for multivariate analysis and 91.71% for bivariate analysis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and area under curve (AUC) calculated from ROC shows 88.6% accuracy of multivariate analysis and 84.6% of bivariate analysis. The final assessment of landslide hazard susceptibility was performed by using the raster difference calcu- lation between datasets generated by bivariate and multivariate methods. The results showed agreement in landslide hazard classification for 50.37% of study area.","PeriodicalId":35652,"journal":{"name":"GEOGRAFICKY CASOPIS-Geographical Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.9,"publicationDate":"2019-12-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70011633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article presents the definition of the phenomenon and reviews the current state of car tourism development and research. Car tourism is examined from the interdisciplinary perspectives of tourism, heritage, marketing, and destination management in areas where car tourism creates tourist spaces and products. The phenomenon has a significant impact on tourism at destina- tions where cars are either manufactured or present car history, or have automotive heritage experiences based on classic cars. In addition, car tourism plays an important role in the marketing of major car brands and in place marketing.
