It is often undermined by everyday constraints. While the literature confirms its positive effect on clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction, it remains difficult to implement. The mortality rate among the elderly is high. In order to develop a suitable prevention plan, we conducted a descriptive and analytical monocentric cross-sectional study of a sample of people aged 65 and over, autopsied in the forensic medicine department at the Habib-Bourguiba Hospital in Sfax, Tunisia, over a 5-year period. A proposed model identifies ten key stages in the empathic process. This approach enables us to better understand and improve the caregiver-patient relationship. Especially as neurocognitive disorders impact each stage of the process in different ways.
