Amid unprecedented increase in job layoffs, salary cuts, expenses cuts, robotic technologies embrace, bonuses suspension, promotions postponements, remote working embrace, price hikes, high inflation rate et cetera which have all culminated into heightened fraud occurrences and consequent fraud losses, fraud risk appear not to be proactively considered a top priority by the government and management of businesses in critical challenging COVID-19 pandemic economic downturn period as this. Deploying a descriptive approach, the study expressly evaluates the threat of COVID-19 pandemic upsurge on public governance and businesses with extant emphasis laid literally on attendant responses to fraud prevention and fraud risk management in Nigeria. Conceptualized schematic frameworks and widely recognized current statistics were utilised and evaluated to maximally envisage reliable response measures to fraud risk factors in the contemporary COVID-19 pandemic business environment in Nigeria. This present study examined role-based stress and psychological breach of contract as correlates of entrepreneurial intentions among formal sector employees. Participants in the study were made up of 156 non-academic staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. They comprised of 85 males (54.5%) and 71 females (45.5%) with a mean age of 34.37 years and a standard deviation of 8.54 years. Their age ranged from 22 to 58 years. Three instruments were used to measure the variables. Role-based stress inventory by Rizzo, House & Lirtzman, (1970) was used to measure role-based stress, psychological breach of contract and violation scale by Robison & Morrison, (2000) was used to measure psychological breach of contract and entrepreneurial intention scale by Kaiser, (1974) was used to entrepreneurship intention of the workers. The study adopted correlational study design and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and Multiple Regression analysis was used for the statistical test. The result of hypothesis one revealed that role-based stress positively and significantly correlated with entrepreneurial intentions at r= .55, p <.01, level of significance. The result of hypothesis two indicated that psychological breach of contract positively and significantly correlated with entrepreneurial intentions at r= .85, p <.01, level of significance. Thus, hypotheses one and two of the study were accepted. The result of the multiple regression analysis using an enter method revealed that a jointly and significantly interaction effect exists between role based stress and psychological breach of contract on entrepreneurial intentions among employees at adjusted R2 = .69, p <. 01; F (2, 153) = 172.34, p<.01. Therefore, hypothesis three was also accepted. It was however recommended that employers of public sector should encourage entrepreneurial intentions and ensure that that the agreements it has with workers upon employment are not reneged","PeriodicalId":355698,"journal":{"name":"UNIZIK JOURNAL OF BUSINESS","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126062558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first is about “building back better,” in the aftermath (a hopeful choice of words) of the Covid-19 pandemic and its negative impact on the lives and livelihoods of not just Nigeria and Africa (Igwe, Madichie & Newbery, 2019), but globally. The second element has to do with the precarity in the informal sector (Madichie, Gbadamosi and Rwelamila, 2021) – notably the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (i.e., MSMEs). Before delving into these contributions, however, it is persuasive to set the tone with with a review of a recent United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Economic Development Report in Africa 2021. The report entitled “Reaping the Potential Benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area for inclusive growth,” – spans across five chapters (plus an introduction) – collectively highlighting the need for inclusive growth in Africa. It also touches on other pertinent issues ranging from People, Informality and Inclusivity; Shared Prosperity through the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AFCFTA); and the need for an integrated framework and cost-efficient trade measures. A cursory review of the report highlights some consistency with most other policy reports on the developments orchestrated by the launch of AFCFTA. Indeed, the UNCTAD report is upbeat on AFCTA being a game changer for the development ambitions in Africa. As the report points out, AFCTFA arrives at a crucial time, marked by the increased poverty levels and socioeconomic setbacks African countries have experienced due to the coronavirus pandemic, and its related financial, climatic and food-related shocks. The launch of AFCFTA, thus presents “a unique opportunity to promote inclusive growth and accelerate the achievement of the post-pandemic recovery, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063 of the African Union.” Further inspection of the Economic Development in Africa Report 2021 outlines the objectives of AFCFTA as a platform to “promote and attain sustainable and inclusive socioeconomic development, gender equality and structural transformation of the State Parties” (UNCTAD, 2021, p. xii). By the same token, the report also acknowledges outstanding issues such as the “urgent need to have a better understanding of how AFCFTA can best achieve this.” The rationale for this caution is predicated upon “the significant challenges faced on the continent and the increasing levels of inequality both between and within countries.”","PeriodicalId":355698,"journal":{"name":"UNIZIK JOURNAL OF BUSINESS","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125360839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These tenets of language are very vital in the Nigerian Informal Business Sector. One aspect of the Informal Sector that is examined by this paper is Hip-hop (a subset of the Creative Industry). Register is a set of linguistic items associated with discrete, occupational and social groups. This paper looked at Nigerian Hip-hop songs (as a social group) and its informal language. Nigerian Hip-hop (a subset of the creative industry) in the last few years has started piling up register for itself and these registerial variations have taken the Nigerian Informal Business Sector to its next level. This paper examines the registerial variation of Nigerian Hip-hop. It employed the Beiber and Conrad (2009) model, a more recent and comprehensive registerial framework which is descriptive in its outlook. Three Hip-hop artistes with two songs each from the southern region of the country (SE, SW, and SS) were used to determine indexation of these registerial variations in their song. The study was guided by the uses and gratification theory as well as the social category theory. Using the triangulation method, a total of 10 social media influencers were interviewed while 2000 copies of questionnaire were administered to respondents within Anambra State. Findings revealed that 71. 4% of respondents acquired skills on social media during the lockdown with YouTube, Facebook and Instagram as the main media for these acquisitions. While further research is recommended in this area, however, there is a need for Government to provide appropriate infrastructure for better internet connectivity and also subsidize data costs by reducing the taxation of internet service providers. Furthermore, since it has been found that youths are the most active users of social media in Nigeria, in addition to the provision of grants and low-interest loans, Government should use these same social media for sensitization and orientation all geared towards effective youth productivity.","PeriodicalId":355698,"journal":{"name":"UNIZIK JOURNAL OF BUSINESS","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125450579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Social media influencers play a vital role which entices brands to pursue them. It is more likely for a consumer to trust a brand that collaborates with an influencer than to trust the brand exclusively. It is found that influencer marketing has impacted the purchasing decision of Nigerians when online. Though many of the purchasers may have positive experience purchasing online, few of them may actually share their experience. Meaning it is more likely for them to share a negative experience in purchasing a product. Extensively, this examination is an interpretive research which applies a serious writing survey. Study originates from secondary data. The strategy for this examination is basic reasonable investigation. From this research, the following recommendations were made; that influencers are highly effective and important at bringing awareness to a brand on social media. And they are also effective in influencing consumers to make the final purchasing decision. Businesses and brands should all partake in influencer marketing as it will help increase sales and the overall brands success.","PeriodicalId":355698,"journal":{"name":"UNIZIK JOURNAL OF BUSINESS","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126450901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A descriptive statistical method was employed in the presentation. With a total population of 31.6 million people, Malaysia has been able to harness the factor endowments for its people such that its GDP per capita (USD, PPP) grew from 18,577 in 2005 to 25,669 in 2016, whereas Nigeria’s GDP per capita (USD, PPP) grew from 4,149 in 2005 to 5,435 in 2016. Nigeria failed in its capacity utilization of the available factor endowments. In 2016, the percentage of prevalence of undernourishment of Malaysian people was 2.9, while Nigeria’s data was 11.5%. Furthermore, there was no prevalence of severe food insecurity in Malaysia, but Nigeria recorded 24.8% in its prevalence of severe food insecurity, within the period under consideration.
