This paper wishes to explain two models of community adaptation in two distinct areas, namely Morodemak Village on the north coast of Central Java, which began to recede in the management of common resources, and Kawa Village in Seram Barat coast, which is still strong in maintaining the tradition of coastal and terrestrial territorial management as a common resource. The research methodology used in this research is qualitative approach, with semi structured interview and focus group discussion. From the results of the study, it was revealed that people were able to reshape their resources based on ecological and social changes, as their adaptation strategy in sustaining sustainable livelihoods.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132661913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data used in this study are secondary data with descriptive analysis tool by comparing the economic growth: GDP, agricultural sector and food crop subsector in West Sumatera Province before and after the establishment of production centers for food commodities. The productivity level of leading agricultural commodities in each region that has been determined tends to fluctuate and have not always increased. The rate of economic growth reflected in GDP of the food crops actually decreased significantly from 2014 to 2016. This illustrates that the establishment of production center areas has not fully been able to increase the productivity of production centers nor increase the economic growth of food crops subsector, agricultural sector and the overall economic growth rate in West Sumatera Province.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127137906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Purwakarta regency is one of the regions in Jakarta-Bandung corridor that experienced the impact of Jakarta-Bandung conurbation process. This study aims to analyze the level of regional development, to analyze land cover change that occurred, and to predict Purwakarta Regency land use/land cover in 2030. Regional development analysis is done by using the Scalogram method based on Potential Village data of year 2003 and 2014. Land cover change analysis is done through spatial analysis by overlaying land cover Landsat Satellite Image of year 2000 and 2015. Land use/land cover prediction in 2030 is conducted through spatial modelling of Cellular Automata Markov method. Purwakarta Regency experienced an increase in regional development within the period of 11 years (2003 to 2014), which is marked by a decrease in the percentage of the number of villages that are in hierarchy III and increase in the percentage of the number of villages that are in hierarchy II and I. In general, within 15 years (2000 to 2015) Purwakarta Regency has increasing number of built-up area and mixed gardens, meanwhile dry land, forest, paddy field, and water bodies tend to decrease. The results of CA Markov analysis show that the built-up area is predicted to continue to increase from 2000 to 2030, meanwhile paddy fields and water bodies will continue to decrease.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123502168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conflict involves main parties, in which the locals are diametrically opposed to local government-backed tourist corporations. This inductive qualitative study explores the historical information of the conflict and constructs a theoretical proposition at the mezzo level concerning the cause of this conflict by using an analytical tool from Lefebvre's concept of \"production of space\" and \"accumulation by dispossession\" by Harvey. The purpose of this study is to obtain a theoretical explanation at the intermediate level on the relation between abstract space production, dispossession and rural urbanization in favor of the tourism industry. The result shows, the production of abstract spaces, dispossession and urbanization located in a linear path for the production of capital space that turn social space into a space of capital accumulation, transforms agrarian resources into commodities and creates landless free labor for the future modern tourist industry. This study also shows that imbalanced contestation of spatial conflicts in Pari Island potentially marginalize local communities, furthermore, converting insular space into exclusively private-based industries is inappropriate because corporation has geographically expansive tendencies. Thus, policy makers are advised to support the life of differential spaces so that the diversity and particularity that exist in Pari Island can live together. It is this action that will overcome the damage caused by the production of abstract spaces and dispossession in the past and become the solution to the agrarian conflict in Pari Island.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128807655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kliwonan Village has development potentials viewed from its geographical and accessibility aspect. Viewed from geographical aspect, Kliwonan Village is approximately 10 km from Sangiran Museum, which was established as a National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN). Moreover, viewed from the accessibility aspect, Kliwonan Village is easily accessible since is approximately 8 km from Solo-Kertosono toll exit. In order to be developed as a batik tourism village, a comprehensive review of supply and demand is needed. Based on that, this research aimed to explore the development potentials of Kliwonan Village as a batik tourism village based on the aspects of supply and demand in order to contribute recommendations for Kliwonan Village’s development in the future. This research used mixed method, incorporating qualitative method to analyze tourism supply-side, community characteristic, and policy, as well as quantitative method to analyze tourism demand-side. This research indicates that Kliwonan Village has the potential to be developed as a batik tourism village. However, it is still not ready since there are some elements in the supply-side that need improvement or development, namely accessibility, amenity, information and institution.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122369133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research uses qualitative method by conducting questionnaire and in-depth interview to respondents. Mapping of community houses together with analysis on nearest neighbors in viewing the settlement patterns were conducted. Categorical frequency analysis was used to measure villagers’ perceptions that affect their choice to settle at disaster-prone areas. The result of mapping shows the existing settlement patterns are either cluster, linear or spread. The result of analysis of nearest neighbors shows T value of 1.74, which means an evenly spread pattern. Based on villager’s perception, factors determining the selection of settlement locations on areas prone to landslides are distance away from high-noises, pollution levels that do not interfere with health, and accessibility to job sites.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126340311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trend shows that the region suffered largely from habitat destruction, changes on natural processes of ecosystems andpollution. Coastal and small islands regions became increasingly complex as conflicts of interest occur, both within the community and at the government level. Thus, activities to be placed within this region should consider the compatibility between needs and the region’s ability in providing resources. This study aims to develop a management strategy for unpopulated islands in utilization of natural resources. The research was conducted through descriptive evaluative method, using spatial analysis to obtain suitability between the waters and the carrying capacity of the area usingArcGIS 10.3. On the other hand, management strategies were formulated using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model. The ecological potentials of Nusa Manu and Nusa Leun Islands covers diving, snorkeling tours, mangrove tracking and beach tourism, grouper fish aquaculture within floating netcages and fishing grounds. The potentials are suitable and can be utilized for various activities with priority on conservation-based marine ecotourism. This management strategy sides with the people, opens employment opportunities and able to encourage economic growth while maintaining the sustainability aspects of natural resources.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125552718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, good economic level in North Sumatera Province has not been followed by equitable distribution of income between regions within. The value of Williamson Index shows the disparity that occurred in North Sumatera Province is still quite high. Nevertheless, someday relatively backward regions could catch up with relatively developed regions, so that inter-regional income levels may reach a relatively similar level, which is called economic convergence. This research aims to identify the tendency of economic convergence among regions in North Sumatera Province and to analyze the variables that influence the economic growth in order to realize economic convergence by using panel data regression approach. The result of the research shows the tendency of economic convergence in North Sumatera Province, while the variables that influence the economic convergence are capital expenditure, Human Development Index (HDI) and open unemployment rate.","PeriodicalId":355598,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Regional and Rural Development Planning","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132620526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
