Although previous research has shed light on some aspects of argumentative flaws, the knowledge of fallacious reasoning principles is still insufficient, raising questions critical to the informed decision-making process. The present paper gives an overview of the findings for the following questions: first, are informal reasoning fallacies rare? Second, are people able to identify fallacious reasoning? And third, is the ability to identify fallacious reasoning sufficient to prevent their effect? Occurring in various situations from politics through healthcare to advertising and everyday life, fallacious reasoning remains a challenge for both cultivating the ability to identify misleading arguments and further research into this issue.","PeriodicalId":35475,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Decision Making","volume":"20 1","pages":"112"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66702571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we analyse and predict the future trend of the COVID-19 cases for the top ten countries with the highest number of confirmed cases to date and the top ten countries with the highest growth percentage within the last month. Since many recent works have proposed that the COVID-19 pattern follows an exponential distribution, we use a tuned approach to the Holt-Winters' additive method as a white-box model. Based on the analysis, we found that most of the countries are still presenting an increasing trend of confirmed cases in the near future. Apart from vaccine and drug development, measures such as vigilance, strategic governmental actions, public awareness, and social distancing are unarguably continuously needed to handle the spreading of COVID-19 and avoid or curb the next wave of the outbreak.","PeriodicalId":35475,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Decision Making","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44621329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herein, a theoretical review will cover both the decision-making and internationalisation theory. Restricted to a target population of SMEs, the empirical testing is focused on the areas of risk-perception and the pace of commitment, and is therefore, a multiple case design comprising a representative sample of the different segments of the sector. The research follows a post-positivistic rationale aligned with its descriptive-evaluative purpose, combining the collection of contrived data and subsequent manipulation in a sequential explanatory mixed methods logic. Quantitative data from documentary analysis, is proceeded by qualitative data from interviews to the strategic apex of the case-firms, coded through content analysis. Results demonstrate that commitment decisions follow distinctive risk-profiles, influenced by a dyad of Ricardian comparative-advantage factors and public policy' practices impacting directly on cross-border establishment decisions.","PeriodicalId":35475,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Decision Making","volume":"19 1","pages":"364"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45113990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this aim, this research introduces a holistic definition for SN leader by taking a multidimensional, multidisciplinary and multilevel viewpoint. Accordingly, using the proposed definition and dominant theories, characteristics, and features of leader in the literature, three propositions presented to lead SN leader measurement theoretically as a foundation for further investigation. The significant findings of this research are on the investigation of SN leader based on the performance improvement as the final goal through incorporating three levels of analysis: 1) structural characteristics with implementing the centrality measurement; 2) inter-organisational relationship and relevant network institutions and governance with applying the game theory; 3) operational processes with utilising the data envelopment analysis for efficiency measurement.","PeriodicalId":35475,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Management and Decision Making","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48913211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
