The environment, economy and society are suffering due to fleeting approach of production, consumption and disposal. It is imperative for all businesses to adopt sustainable practices for their continual sustenance. Banks as a major contributor in country's economic growth can play a vital role in creating a sustainable environment while they directly serve their customers and stakeholders. Sustainable banking ensures an environmental and social wellness while carrying banking operations and knowledge management (KM) is a major source for smooth executions of sustainable development (SD) practices. This paper examines influence of KM in context of KM culture, information and communication technology (ICT) and KM practices on SD initiatives in Indian public sector banks (PSBs). The research findings presented that ICT practices in Indian PSBs have influence on SD.","PeriodicalId":35410,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment, Workplace and Employment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66778890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It critically impacts the business by imposing several costs like cost of business disruption, hiring, training new staff etc. Given these costs, this paper is intended to diagnose and rank the root causes of employee attrition and also statistically cheque their impact in driving attrition. Garrett ranking technique has been used to rank the drivers of attrition in order of their importance. Moreover, logistic regression has been applied to predict the variables behind attrition. Results of the analysis shows that time since last promotion, last performance rating, and age are the key predictors of attrition. It is expected that by looking at these attributes employee intent to leave the organisation can be assessed and necessary steps can be taken to save the loss.","PeriodicalId":35410,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment, Workplace and Employment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66779092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to KPMG (2017) survey, Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) is considered the most inclusive framework for reporting sustainable practices by the firms. The primary objective of this paper is to assess and compare extent and informativeness of sustainability reports per GRI-G4 guidelines of five Asian economies (India, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Philippines). Using specific standard disclosures related to six different aspects of sustainability reporting as per GRI-G4 indicators, this study examines the relationship between sustainability reporting and financial performance of the selected companies. Over all, it has been observed that though sustainability reporting is gaining its ground, the extent of reporting as per GRI-G4 guidelines is low in all economies and there is a significant difference in reporting by selected countries. The study neither finds any significant impact of sustainability reporting on ROS and ROA, nor does financial performance significantly predict informativeness of sustainability reporting on different GRI-G4 indicators. The policy implication that the study recommends is to make sustainability reporting mandatory by law with penalty clause to make it more effective and comprehensive.","PeriodicalId":35410,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environment, Workplace and Employment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66779592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
