This study examines the situation analysis of elderly Dalits of Nepal. The total respondents were 381 older people. This study found more than half of respondents were residing with their son/daughter-in-law (53.2%). Elderly living with a spouse only was quite high (37.4%) than in other studies from Nepal. Out of the total respondents, nearly 95 percent have at least one health problem. More than 90 %of respondents feel lonely (92.1%) and depressed (94.7%). Similarly, more than half of the respondents (59.4%) feel that they are not cared for by their family members and nearly two-thirds (65.7%) feel insecure. Local governments and stakeholders should start health promotion programs and awareness activities so that older people can live dignified lives in their later years.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, humans are exposed to numerous environmental factors that affect their physical and mental health. In the present piece of work, the impact of environmental exposure on mental and physical health is understood in the broadest sense. The environment has direct and indirect effects on mental and physical health. High-rise housing and other constructions are detrimental to the psychological wellbeing of people. Residential overcrowding, these high-density areas, and noisy exterior noise sources increase psychological distress and may contribute to the development of mental and physical disorders. Air pollutants with a pungent odor amplify negative effects, and environmental pollutants have also been linked to behavioral disturbances. Lack of adequate daylight is reliably associated with melancholic dispositions and increased depressive symptoms. Consequently, environmental factors continue to negatively impact both mental and physical health. The environment has the potential to encourage or inhibit human interaction. Along with this, individuals’ personal control, social support, relationships, and restoration from tension and fatigue may all be affected by various aspects and properties of the built environment. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when work from home had become commonplace, environmental factors had a significant impact on the health outcomes of individuals. Hence, this article is trying to shed light on the environmental factors that affect the physical and mental health of its users in more than one way and what can be done to make it less stressful, safer, and better by improving the tangible environment.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, it becomes increasingly important for adolescents to develop positive emotion regulation (ER) strategies, which promotes mental well-being in youth. The objectives of the present study were to investigate the relationship between emotional regulation and mental well-being among Indian adolescents and to explore the areas of difficulties in the emotion regulation. The study used a correlational design. A total sample of 296 adolescents (174 males and 122 female; age range 12–15 years) were recruited from a private school in Delhi NCR through purposive sampling and administered the scales of Difficulty in Emotion Regulation (DERS-18) and Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF).The obtained quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation. A significant negative relationship between the variables, viz. difficulties in emotion regulation and mental health and well-being was found. The implications and limitations of the study are discussed.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the capability approach with distinct secondary datasets, it attempts to comprehend inequalities in understanding the interplay of various attributes leading towards disparities at various levels. Using specific exemplifications, the study shows gender disparity even with the labour force participation representing varied professional roles, representing social oppression at both the fronts of education and professional fronts. The study manifests the intricacies in societal, economic and political factors for understanding the functionalities and capabilities. With a rigorous review of the literature, the study observes the significance of the theoretical perspective in understanding the interplay of inequalities at the micro level that transforms into social oppression using the capability approach.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the same time, few studies reported no gender differences when landmarks were consistently present throughout the task of finding the route to the destination in the building. Studies on way-finding strategies found that males and females differ in their orientation strategies, where males preferentially use survey orientation strategies with an emphasis on distances, vectors, and cardinal directions (e.g. north, west) and Females, on the other hand, are in more favour of route based strategies using topographical features including landmarks and relative directions. Keeping in view, the present study is aimed to explore gender differences in wayfinding strategies. A total of 112 (53 male and 59 female) students (mean age 19.68 years and age range from 17 to 24 years) enrolled in the graduate course in different colleges of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur participated in the present study. Independent t-test showed significant gender differences in two different wayfinding strategies favouring males, suggesting that males use route and orientation strategies better than females depending upon context.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous clinical and psychological issues associated with hemophilia have been found to attribute a significant increase in emotional distress. Due to the paucity of research on the psychosocial aspects of this inherited disorder. The aim of the research was to study emotional reappraisal, emotional suppression, and health among persons with hemophilia. A total of 50 patients participated in the study and were divided into 2 age groups (19-24) and (25-30). Standardized scales such as Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Gross & John, 2003) and Patient Health Questionnaire (Spitzer et. al, 1999) were used. The obtained results were tabulated, and correlation and independent t-tests were used to compare the means of two age groups. The total sample mean was found to be 18.10 and the standard deviation was 8.30 respectively. The correlation of health was found to be positive and significantly related to emotional reappraisal (r= 0.10) and emotional suppression (r=0.08). The result portrays there is no difference between the two age groups on emotional regulation and health. Despite much research on the genetic causes of this condition in India, there is a dire need to study the psychological challenges, social problems, and opportunities available to persons with hemophilia (PWH). Psychological and genetic counseling shall be promoted for the holistic well-being of hemophiliacs.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Individual is a micro-order having economic and non-economic factors, shadows of scenario, and it works and takes decisions in the combined system of soul, body, and instruments of activity. Welfare is a macro concept, but it can be achieved by the aggregate behavior of a micro unit, which is an individual. The micro approach reveals that the decision to embody the spirit of sacrifice and selfless service without disregarding one’s own integrates the cause of life and livelihood both for oneself and others. Welfare, peace, and happiness can be secured through action or work, which is the supply-side behavior of an individual. Such microfoundations for welfare highlight the importance of supplyside behavior from all stakeholders in society. Supply-side economics is a different concept that is based on economic rationality. Here, the supply-side behavior is normative in nature. The approach calls for taking care of the welfare of others besides our own. Indian economic thoughts and ancient literature all have this broader outlook. The paper is divided into four sections: introduction, individual as micro-order, background basis, different concepts and dimensions of supply-side behavior, and conclusion. The paper is food for thought, with many dimensions of supply-side behavior that can be explored.","PeriodicalId":35394,"journal":{"name":"Mind and Society","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139319415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
