They are subject to discrimination and marginalization which hamper their economic development. The purpose of this research study is to explore those factors that contribute to their poverty and low socioeconomic status in District Kohat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-Pakistan. The study was qualitative, based on the application of the grounded-theory method for data collection and analysis. The researcher interviewed a diverse group of respondents by using a purposive sampling technique: a total of 26 respondents were interviewed, which included 13 Christians, 7 Hindus, and 6 Sikhs. Semi-structured interviews were conducted until the saturation point of data was attained. The fundamental elements behind the poor economic position of the Participants were explored and summed up under one thematic code, namely socio-economic impediments, which included monopoly in job selection, joblessness, nature of jobs, lack of respect, workplace bullying, work hazards, exclusion in corporate sectors and lack of promotion. All the identified categories were arranged in a diagrammatic model, which provides an easier understanding of the economic position of religious minorities and developing their status both at national as well as global level.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1832360","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48077010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The author considers Berdyaev’s conceptual interpretation of prophetic philosophy as a special way of philosophical and religious understanding of the world and humanty, based on the religious studies and philosophy of art for the first time. The defining theoretical and methodological provisions of this study are the conceptual orientation toward the complementarity of ideographic and biographical methods, specific to humanitarian knowledge, which made it possible to reveal the genesis of the formation of the theoretical foundations of Berdyaev’s concept of prophetic philosophy and implementation of these principles in Berdyaev’s creative thinking.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1864884","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48228256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper examines the role of Islam in the training of Catholic priests in Nigeria. The work employs the historical, analytical and evaluative methods to examine the transformative stages of Islam from its inception and the challenges its poses to the Christian evangelical mission in Nigeria. The findings reveal that Islam, which arrived through commercial activities, has become a powerful influence in Nigerian society. It exercises a dynamic influence on the spiritual formation of Catholic priests and provides strategies for their mission in the country. The paper recommends a commitment to interreligious dialogue by the Catholic and cooperation with Islamic citizens. This commitment and cooperation should be embedded in the curriculum of Nigeria’s Catholic seminaries.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1868241","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44944757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A few decades later, members of the Oxford Movement would also defend medieval English Catholicism. The results of that revaluation of a Catholic past led some adherents of the movement to convert to Roman Catholicism, others to transform part of the English State Church into something that closely resembled Roman Catholicism and that was known as Anglo-Catholicism. A lesser known participant of the Oxford Movement, Robert Biddulph Phillipps, owned a copy of Cobbett’s History and wrote extensively within the covers and pages of his copy of the book. This article traces the trajectory of the Phillipps’s life, the history of the volume’s ownership, and the views Phillipps expressed about Cobbett within its covers.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1816630","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47235874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Qur’an is not narrative nor is there a chronicler. Rather, Allah speaks in the first or third person. The Qur’ān consists generally of short themes, and the so-called “punishment chronicles” are among those which recur the most. The story of Musa (Moses in the Hebrew Bible and Christian New Testament) is repeated in different variations 122 times among the Qur’ān’s narratives. This article provides a plot-based chart of Musa’s narrative, which maps out the stories dedicated to different themes. This applies not only to the internal context of the Qu'rān, but also to the overall context of the general narrative of the Abrahamic religions. The article also draws parallels between episodes in the life of episodes of the Prophet Muhammad’s life and the story of Musa in the Qur’ān.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1832361","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47177892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In both the silent and sound film eras, the “Biblical epic” offered a new channel for the communication of religious values and familiar scriptural tales to mass audiences. As research subjects they have been (and continue to be) explored by fields as diverse as film history, musicology, and traditional Biblical studies. This church serves congregants from Roman Catholic and Protestant backgrounds, and a large, but not exclusively gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender community. ap Siôn’s study of prayer typology and subject contents from rural England influenced this investigation. This study used computer technology and document analysis to categorize 8,059 individual prayer card requests submitted between 2014-2018 from church members and attendees. Results showed the most common prayer requests were “Thanks and Thanksgiving” prayers with “Praise and Adoration” prayers among the least common. Few references to sin and forgiveness were found. The most frequently mentioned subjects of prayers were those referencing personal needs and concerns. Findings and comparison with ap Siôn and other research suggest these prayer requests demonstrate the social and theological cohesiveness of Christian prayer. Additional research is suggested comparing Christian prayer with prayers in other religions and how prayer behaviors interact with the rise of multiculturalism in society.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1793536","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49521991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Student employees were tasked with curating the displays over several years and maintaining a spreadsheet with the titles displayed and resulting checkout rates. Religious fiction (from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint tradition) circulated over 80% the first three years, higher than the religious nonfiction on display and the same genre in the stacks. In the final year of study when almost no fiction was displayed and a higher quantity of items were placed on the shelves, the display circulation rates fell sharply. All books on the display circulated better when there was a portion of both nonfiction and fiction and when the shelves held fewer items. The data clearly showed that religious fiction is an important genre to display in an academic library.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1789331","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46098933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Church was strident in its denunciation and condemnation of Bolshevism and Communism. Did it remain culpably silent in its reactions to Nazism in Germany and Fascism in Italy, two political movements which led to the destruction of Europe’s Jewish population? This study provides a review of the policies and actions of Pope Pius XI (Achille Ratti) and his successor Pope Pius XII (Eugenio Pacelli). In the view of Holocaust scholars (e.g. Goldhagen and Zuccotti) the role of Pius XII represents a blight on the reputation of the Roman Catholic Church. Also included are biographical sketches of two Catholic priests (Pere Marie-Benoit and Jozef Tiso) who met very different fates after the conclusion of the Second World War.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1767333","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46513842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most ancient such communities existed for centuries in a region not usually associated with Judaism, but with significant ties to ancient Israel in historical and religious tradition, the land of Ethiopia. In existence by the third century C.E., the people who referred to themselves as the Beta Israel (House of Israel) maintained distinct political and economic identities while continuing to practice a pre-Rabbinic form of Judaism up to the twentieth century within a society structured by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. This article will explore the diverse literature on the Beta Israel created before and since the foundation of the State of Israel in 1948 covering the issue of the recognition of their identity as Jews, the efforts made by the world Jewish community to rescue them from war and violence, and the cultural and religious problems generated by their arrival in Israel.","PeriodicalId":35378,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Religious and Theological Information","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/10477845.2020.1753422","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43580022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
