Even though the wideband spectrum detection is feasible by combining the compressive sensing (CS) with wavelet transform, however, accurate detection of the small-scale primary users (SSPUs) such as wireless microphones and mobile devices is still difficult especially under low signal-noise-ratio (SNR) conditions due to the SSPU's weak signal strength. To cope with this challenge, we propose a novel robust compressive wideband spectrum sensing algorithm by exploiting the non-Gaussianity properties of the SSPU's spectrum. Since the spectrum of received signal at SUs more closely approximate the Gaussian distribution when the primary users (PUs) are absent than that of the PU's spectrum, it is possible to design a test statistic to measure the non-Gaussianity properties of the wideband spectrum reconstructed by CS method, then make a decision on whether there are vacant frequency bands. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm even.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129257131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a Multi-User Multi-Input Multi-Output (MU-MIMO) network if all user terminals in this network are equipped with dual polarized antennas. The present work focuses on introducing the Proportional Fair (PF) scheduling into this network. The main problem is that the PF scheduling requires estimating the possible transmission rate of all users, but it is very difficult in the MSC because of the great satellite channel delay. In this paper we propose a solution for this problem and evaluate it through computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117101612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conventional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) based least square (LS) channel estimator suffers from a spectral leakage, which results in an irreducible inter-antenna interference in MIMO systems. By exploiting the characteristic of satellite channel, we put forward a joint slot RS structure in both code division multiplexing (CDM) and frequency division multiplexing (FDM) modes, ensuring the orthogonality between antennas, the former of which is compatible with the terrestrial LTE system. In order to further eliminate the influence of noise, a simple implementation of the optimal channel estimator in the linear minimal mean square error (LMMSE) sense in discrete cosine transform (DCT) domain is derived. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed RS structure and channel estimation method is verified via simulations.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115632382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there is great potential to get high system performance in theory, it is constrained by many factors in practice, for example, the overhead for acquisition of the channel state information. Under this premise, the optimal antenna configuration and multi-user number are investigated for massive MIMO systems in this paper, where the system performance is limited by the overhead of pilot and channel information feedback. When the number of transmit antenna is fixed, there exists a unique optimal number of multi-user. When the number of multi-user is fixed, the existence of optimal antennas relies on the property of the function of overhead. In addition, considering differences of each user propagation environment, an upper bound of optimal multi-user number is deduced which can be used to reduce the calculation complexity of the multi-user grouping. Numerical simulations are also provided to support the analysis.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115740411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is no synchronization requirement between the mobile anchor and the target. In mDRIPS, the static target continuously transmits a dual-tone signal, and the mobile anchor receives the signal at different positions along its trajectory. The instability of the target clock is taken into account. An ESPRIT-type algorithm is developed to estimate frequencies of the dual-tone signal for the subsequent phase estimation. Furthermore, the time of arrival (TOA) is extracted from the phase estimate of the received dual-tone signal. After measuring several TOAs at different locations along the anchor's trajectory, the target can be located. The mDRIPS is robust to flat-fading channels. Since the frequency difference of the two tones of the dual-tone signal is designed to be smaller than the channel coherence bandwidth, the same fading effect on these two tones can be eliminated. Moreover, we investigate the integer ambiguity problem due to phase wrapping, and develop a localization algorithm to deal with a simplified ambiguity problem. Numerical results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed mDRIPS.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"29 18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125791505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Different from the traditional methods which predict the spectrum state slot-by-slot, in this paper we investigate the issue of prediction analysis of channel state duration (CSD). Specifically, we first introduce the concept of Hurst index to characterize the predictability between different scales of historical data and use the method of R/S (rescaled range) analysis the Hurst index of three different kinds of Large-Scale data and validate if we can obtain best prediction result from high predictability. Then, we introduce a pattern matching approach to validate the practical prediction performance. Furthermore, we focus on the predictability in small-scale data and find sometimes it performs even better than using large-scale data. Moreover, real world spectrum measurements are used to show that selecting historical data based on the predictability theory in this paper, we can smartly improve the predictive efficiency and enhance the prediction accuracy.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126704711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being aware that there is little work on the network modeling and analysis based on a duty-cycling MAC protocol for LSNs, in this paper, we model a duty-cycling MAC with a pipelined-scheduling feature for an LSN, where all nodes could generate data. Based on the model, we analyze the network performance in terms of the system throughput and packet delivery latency. Through the extensive OPNET-based simulations, we validate the model and reveal the dependency of the network performance on various system parameters. Two channel models are considered. One is wiretap channel with information embedding on actions and noiseless feedback (WT-IEANF), the other is degraded broadcast channel with noncausal action-dependent states and noiseless feedback (DBC-NADSNF). For the WT-IEANF, we characterize both inner and outer bounds on the capacity-equivocation region. For the DBC-NADSNF, an inner bound on the capacity-equivocation region is obtained, and a proper coding scheme is constructed, in which the noiseless feedback plays the role of a shared secret key between the transmitter and legal receiver. We find that the feedback does help increase the secure information transmission rates of the two models, but, at the same time, it enables the illegal receiver to get another chance to eavesdrop the private message. Besides, when secrecy constraint condition is removed, it is found that feedback is not useful for enhancing the capacity of the channel with information embedding on actions.","PeriodicalId":353402,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE/CIC International Conference on Communications in China (ICCC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125195213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
