Design/methodology/approach: Questionnaires were employed to collect data from potential entrepreneurs in Korea. A total of 280 completed questionnaires were returned. Multiple regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis. Findings: Results showed that resilience and marketing self-efficacy had a positive effect on start-up intention. Further, marketing self-efficacy had a significant mediating effect on the resilience and start-up intention relationship. Research limitations/implications: This study empirically confirmed that resilience and marketing self-efficacy are important drivers of start-up intention, and it is also necessary to create an educational program that can increase the level of resilience and marketing self-efficacy. Originality/value: The present study investigates how resilience promotes firm creation, but scholars have not begun to identify specific mechanisms. The findings of this study are valuable for broadening resilience research by identifying the mediating mechanism of marketing self-efficacy between the relationship between resilience and start-up intention. This study suggests that universities and other organizations involved with potential entrepreneurs should create educational programs that can increase resilience and marketing self-efficacy.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"303 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89047164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It aims to utilize strategic change management for understanding the nature of organizational transformation from systemic perspectives. Design/methodology/approach: Systems study using the VSM carries out regarding systemic understanding of the strategic change management of the system-in-focus within the organization. Semi-structured interviews were selected to elicit the history, decision-making process about the company's objectives, strategic plans and operation of the food-services system within the company. Findings: The Viable System Diagnosis (VSD) helps to design an effective food-services system to make this system viable in rapidly changing markets. It sets out the autonomous units of food-services system which has the necessary functions of operation, regulation and coordination, operational control, intelligence and policy that should be present in the organization. This helps initiate and facilitate the strategic change management of the company through providing the ability to respond environmental changes to the company in advance. Research limitations/implications: In this research, focus was on exploring the complex nature of strategic change management in how VSD helps design an effective food-services system to make this system viable in turbulent situations. This research can be justified only if the VSM approach is associated with its interpretivist paradigm, referred as soft systemic thinking. Originality/value: The VSM is introduc ed and applied in an effort to manage organizational transformation of the Korean food-services system in association with strategic management. The value of research was to explore the complex nature of organizational transformation using Espejo and Reyes' notion of the archetypes. It was able to demonstrate it through a case study on Korean food-services system as it shows the nature of the self-organizing whole.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83835917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach: This study used a quantitative research approach by PLS-SEM analysis with a sample size of 400. The respondents are employees working for four distinct textile garment manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam. Findings: Our study found that corporate social responsibility directly impacts organisational trust, identification, well-being, and innovative work practices, and innovative work behaviours are directly related to organisational trust, employee well-being, and identification. Research limitations/implications: The study focuses on workers who have a basic understanding of corporate social responsibility. Consequently, the scope of research in diverse industries throughout the country's regions and cities must be expanded. Given the constraints, future studies should be broadened and conducted in greater detail. Each profession should concentrate its efforts on a broader range of survey subjects, such as office workers, employees, and consumers. Originality/value: Employee well-being is linked to innovative work behaviour, and the stronger the company's identity, the more likely people will be to be creative at work. The author found that people who work for a company that has a good sense of itself are more likely to be creative at work. The study shows that when employees are happy, they are more likely to work in new and innovative ways.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"353 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76470544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to gain insights into whether the stickiness of R&D costs is a rational choice based on managerial foresight or if it stems from managerial self-interest. Design/methodology/approach: For the regression analysis, a modified version of Ohlson's accounting-based valuation model (1995) was used to assess the impact of R&D costs on firm value. and the stickiness of R&D costs was measured using the model proposed by Homburg & Nasev (2009). International Financial Reporting Standards were adopted in Korea in 2011, and empirical analysis was subsequently conducted using data from listed companies. Findings: The empirical results were as follows. Firstly, R&D costs reported as expenses showed a negative (-) correlation with firm value, while the stickiness of R&D costs was found to have a positive (+) impact on the value relevance of earnings. Secondly, R&D costs reported as assets did not have a significant impact on firm value, and the stickiness of R&D costs did not have a significant impact on the value relevance of net assets. Research limitations/implications: Overall, the findings of this study support the accounting treatment of R&D costs as expenses. Moreover, the study reveals that the sticky behavior of R&D costs helps alleviate the negative value relevance of R&D expenses. Originality/value: This study distinguished between capitalized R&D costs and expensed R&D costs, and examined their value relevance by investigating the impact of sticky behavior on earnings and net assets.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81745876","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach: The questionnaire survey for employees served to test hypotheses which examine the relationship between SHRM and the influence of these HR practices on organizational effectiveness, using multi-regression analysis. This research encompasses a total of 450 responses collected from individuals employed at chaebol hotels in Seoul and Busan. Findings: This study revealed that chaebol hotels hired competent employees who had language capabilities, used appearance as a selection criterion, and ensured that sophisticated selection methods were well established through the HR systems of numerous subsidiary companies. Employees consider the perceived injustices in the recruitment and selection process and the perceived unfairness in promotions. Research limitations/implications: All findings support the concept that the best practice, driven by collectivism, employment legislation, trade unions, and financial considerations, plays a significant role in managing HRM in chaebol hotels. This study contributes a new SHRM framework by integrating a combination of best fit, based on quality enhancement strategy, and best practices tailored to the specific organization. Originality/value: This study contributed to explore the SHRM framework for the Chaebol hotel sector with regard to providing both high quality of service and also a high price policy. This study provides guidelines for efficient SHRM to managers and practitioners who operate deluxe hotels and offers an essential material to gain a better understanding of a new SHRM framework in service organization.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91091334","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Design/methodology/approach: The method used in this study is comparative analysis where managerial performance is measured using the KPKU score and financial performance is measured using profitability ratios. Comparative analysis is carried out in detail per year and per SOE sector. Findings: This study found that in general from a managerial performance standpoint, the performance of Indonesian SOEs showed an increase while from a financial performance perspective, the performance of Indonesian SOEs showed a decline. This is because the determination of managerial performance is assessed in a more complex manner, including the level of public services provided to the public. Research limitations/implications: The limitations of this study have not been able to describe in detail each score of the components in managerial performance appraisal, which can be considered for further research in the future. This research implies that all parties must be careful in assessing the performance of SOE because the measurement of performance using managerial and financial measures can be different. Originality/value: The originality of this research is to provide a comparative picture of SOE as a whole which has never been done before. This research contributes to the government as a regulator to try to further improve financial performance so that it can be more in sync with the increase in managerial performance, so that both managerial performance appraisal and financial performance appraisal can provide directions that are close to parallel.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89025035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These four leadership behavior styles are retrieved from the Path goal theory, which considers the employee motivation determinants by the expectancy theory. Design/methodology/approach: The association between the leadership styles and behaviors suggested by the Path goal theory with employee motivation lacks the role of the entrepreneurial mindset factor, which stands on the thinking that enables the employee to overcome challenges, be decisive, and accept responsibility. This research tests the mediation effect of the entrepreneurial mindset factor to fill this gap and contributes significantly to the knowledge of leadership behavior styles. The study also validates the proposed conceptual framework using structural equations modeling, then uses smart PLS with the data collected from 341 employees from the UAE municipalities to test the constructed hypotheses of this research. Findings: The finding of this research revealed a positive and significant relationship between achievement-oriented style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE, a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial mindset and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE, a positive and significant relationship between participative style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE and positive and significant relationship between supportive style and employee motivation in the municipalities of the UAE. The mediation effect of the entrepreneurial mindset factor, there was a mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between directive style and employee motivation. There is no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between achievement-oriented style and employee motivation, no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between participative style and employee motivation, and no mediation of entrepreneurial mindset for the relationship between supportive style and employee motivation. Research limitations/implications: The employees must be appreciated verbally or in writing for their activities in the municipalities to increase their powers and responsibilities and to provide training and career development opportunities. These are the primary leadership motivational factors that provide employees with psychological and social support rather than economic benefit. It can be stated that psycho-social motivation ties employees more. The findings can assist managers in determining which type of leadership style is most suitable in terms of outcomes, as well as how they can adjust their leadership styles to make them more successful and result-oriented. Design/methodology/approach: The study uses a two-step approach. The dynamic latent factor model is first employed to estimate the common inflation of the region in the period between 2000Q1 and 2022Q2. In the second step, a bound test approach to autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) methodology is employed to estimate the model of common inflation, which is constructed based on the aggregate supply - aggregate demand (AS-AD) framework. Findings: The study finds a common factor of inflation across ASEAN countries. The analysis of variance decomposition indicates the significant role of common inflation in the variations of individual countries' inflation. World economic growth, oil price change, non-fuel commodity price change, and trade openness are the main drivers of ASEAN common inflation in both short and long terms. Research limitations/implications: The study focuses mainly on supply-side factors, although some demand-side factors are involved. Future studies should pay more concerns on the trade linkages among regional countries and the similarities in goals in the region. Originality/value: The study examines the common inflation component across ASEAN countries, which has not been sufficiently investigated. It also evaluates the drivers at the global level of common inflation, which has limited empirical evidence.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90690812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to assess the protected area communities' knowledge and level of support for eco-tourism and its development in the Semien Mountain National Park, North Gondar, Ethiopia. Design/methodology/approach: The study employed a mixed research approach and an explanatory design. A multi- stage sampling was used to select 397 samples of respondents from three districts. As methods for gathering data, surveys, interviews and focus group discussions were all employed. Percentages, averages, t-tests, analysis of variance, regression models and thematic analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings: More than half of the respondents (57.2%) were unable to know what tourist is, even though the study found that 93.5% of respondents had a fair understanding of what tourism involved. Nearly three-quarters of the respondents said that their main sources of tourism-related information were their friends and the government. In the multiple regression model, all independent variables together account for about 38.7% of the total variance in the dependent variable. Only three factors significantly contributed to the prediction of the variation in ecotourism support: ecotourism benefit (β = 24, p = 0.001, gender (β =0.47, p = 0.000), and family size (β=0.12, p =.005. Research limitations/implications: Variables, time, and space were limitations on this study. All elements influencing local communities' support for ecotourism development were not exhaustively considered. This research may not apply to other places with differing social, cultural, and environmental settings. This study is also cross-sectional, which means it does not provide information on how local understanding and support for ecotourism may evolve over time. Originality/value: Many studies have examined the consequences of tourism on host communities and tourist attitudes toward ecotourism, but few have examined local understanding and support of ecotourism development. As a result, this study can provide novel perspectives and knowledge that can enhance comprehension of this phenomenon, influence policymaking and practical applications, and ultimately foster the progression of the field.","PeriodicalId":35226,"journal":{"name":"Global Business and Finance Review","volume":"167 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74125413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
