A wide range of mechanisms seeks to reduce the negative effects associated with the migration process, especially for the weakest, who leave their country of origin due to conflicts, violations of their rights or persecution. The development of migration management policies focused on ‘emergency’ in crisis situations suspends common practice and creates a state of exception. In the European case these migration infrastructures generate new forms of governance and result in what some authors call ‘necroborder’. This paper aims to understand the transformations of the European border regime; assess the main elements of European migratory infrastructures; and, inquire how these infrastructures lead to the emergence of a so-called ‘necroborder’.","PeriodicalId":351727,"journal":{"name":"Relações Internacionais","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121059392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to contribute empirical material that could help understanding of this social unrest and its link with (especially urban) inequalities in the Atlantic region. In particular, it sets out to answer two questions: i) to what extent is inequality related with increasing social protests in situations of health crisis, and ii) what form do these phenomena (pandemic, inequalities, and protests) have in cities?","PeriodicalId":351727,"journal":{"name":"Relações Internacionais","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116970224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are different paradigms that examine in a distinct way the migration-security nexus, reflecting the security agendas developed in the 1990s and after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This article assesses the securitisation of irregular migration using a thematic analysis of national security strategies considering three great powers in the world: China, Russia and the United States of America (USA). The results show dissimilar and ambiguous narratives, sometimes emphasizing border control, surveillance and right of admission, other times placing the focus on the humanitarian intervention and human rights.","PeriodicalId":351727,"journal":{"name":"Relações Internacionais","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122683579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this sense, studying it corresponds to analyzing which vision of peace, applied in a practical way, is dominant in the world from this period onwards. Thus, the objective of this paper is to identify in the post-war reconstruction process of East Timor the economic dimension impacts of the peacebuilding instrument, from the analytical tools of the Marxist Dependency Theory. The hypothesis is that the role of International Financial Institutions in the economic dimension of East Timor peacebuilding was responsible for creating favorable structures to dependence and, consequently, an incompatible scenario with the new UN perception of peace.","PeriodicalId":351727,"journal":{"name":"Relações Internacionais","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121825353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the former case, East-Timorese impulse, commitment and leadership are most significant, in the latter, the admission procedures, a priority for all the East-Timorese governments, has been complex and delayed. Twenty years early on, her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, caused a political earthquake at the European level after attaining a similar presence in the second round of the presidential ballot. In comparison to the 17.8 per cent of the vote obtained by Le Pen in the second round, Marine’s electoral support in 2022 more than doubled this figure, as she collected 41.45 per cent of the popular vote in 2022. This trend demonstrated an impressive growth of electoral support of the French far right, which was the party family with most electoral support at the presidential ballot. This research will review the Front National development under Le Pen’s leadership, as well the electoral ascension and political programme of Marine that led to the rebranding of the party into Rassemblement National.","PeriodicalId":351727,"journal":{"name":"Relações Internacionais","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129028312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
