Assuming slow, selective, uncorrelated Rayleigh fading with an equally spaced exponential power delay profile, a decision aided (DA) scheme is proposed in order to estimate the complex channel coefficients needed for coherent combining. Monte Carlo simulations are carried out to comparatively assess the performance of maximal ratio combining (MRC) and equal gain combining (EGC) RAKE reception. Channel estimation using the UMTS downlink primary common pilot channel (P-CPICH) is discussed. Thus, the rough estimates resulted after descrambling the corresponding signal are further refined by way of the above mentioned DA scheme.","PeriodicalId":350740,"journal":{"name":"2007 8th International Conference on Telecommunications in Modern Satellite, Cable and Broadcasting Services","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128391267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Performance analysis for new implemented protocol is also described. In proposed model a sensor network is organized into local clusters. Within the cluster a nodes are battery powered and fixed cluster-head or gateway node have large power supply. In this paper a data exchange between sensor node and cluster head only bee analyzed. Data exchange and number of nodes in cluster is effect statistical analysis based upon in Poisson distribution. Minimum number of trials needed to be sure that the packet reaches the receiver with prescribed probability for varying bit error rate is discussed, too. Lastly, for our hardware solution and example application for temperature measurement energy consumption analysis is given. Comparative results display a power consumption reduction of one order of magnitude regard to previous solution.","PeriodicalId":350740,"journal":{"name":"2007 8th International Conference on Telecommunications in Modern Satellite, Cable and Broadcasting Services","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125623604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Similar results are obtained for variable and complex digital filters, for fractional delay filter realizations and for adaptive real and complex filters. The proposed methods and procedures are verified experimentally. They are simple and easily applicable in the standard engineering design and they do not require complicated optimizations.","PeriodicalId":350740,"journal":{"name":"2007 8th International Conference on Telecommunications in Modern Satellite, Cable and Broadcasting Services","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130504853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

VPN systems provide users with the illusion of a completely private network. This work examines and empirically evaluates the remote access VPN protocols, namely point to point tunneling protocol (PPTP), layer 2 tunneling protocol over Internet protocol security (L2TP/IPSec), and secure socket layer (SSL). We explore the impact of these protocols on end-to-end user application performance using metrics such as throughput, RTT, jitter, and packet loss.
