Ownership, therefore, enables the rational allocation of scarce capital toward profitable ends. Production of biological organisms are not exceptions to economic calculation. If the present prohibitions on the mass production of rare living creatures were repealed, profit-seeking entrepreneurs might choose to mass produce so-called endangered species on a competitive market. Naturally, some of the resulting non-human, living pieces of private property might well trespass, attack, and predate on the properties of other enviropreneurs. Staving off extinctions through a free-market approach to declining biodiversity would require a new legal framework. Indeed, well-defined property rights in privately owned fauna and flora would become an essential lynchpin in the legalized market of rare animal and plant production. The author offers some starting points toward a laissez faire capitalist structure of property rights principles under the law to increase incentives toward greater production of commodifiable species.","PeriodicalId":350367,"journal":{"name":"Dialogi Polityczne","volume":"53 34","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141102951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In reference to A. Toffler, G. W. F. Hegel, and C. Schmitt, I show one of the possible ways of periodizing the history of humanity, along with an attempt to demonstrate that each period has a desirable form of existence of a political entity based on a specific physical space that is most conducive to the dominant social activity at a given time. I argue that in a civilization in which the main activity is information processing, the desired form of existence of a political entity may be an existence that assumes outer space as its central space, as the one in which the political entity is most active. I also try to find an answer to the question whether space exploration can lead to the formation of a new basic spatial form in international relations, other than the state.","PeriodicalId":350367,"journal":{"name":"Dialogi Polityczne","volume":"58 22","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141102888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The observed intensifying social dichotomies do not touch only the issue of political sympathies or antipathies, but concern almost all aspects of human life: the concept of nation, attitude to religion, family model, approach to sexuality and even the existence of gender. The purpose of this article is to trace the conservative style of thinking in the context of the culture war, to distinguish the elements of common concepts within this philosophical tradition, as well as the peculiarities of each of the selected authors. The paper has the following order: an introduction devoted to the origins of modern conservatism, allowing to outline the conceptual framework of this style of thinking. It is hypothesized that modern British conservatism arose in response to events associated with the collapse of socialism in Poland and Czechoslovakia, while the philosophical development of Polish conservative thought is inspired by Anglo-Saxon publications. In the first part, the thought of British conservative philosophy on the phenomenon of culture war is described on the example of Roger Scruton's philosophy, and then compared with American authors Allan Bloom and Gertrude Himmelfarb. The second part of the article is devoted to two Polish authors who have dealt extensively with the subject of culture war – Agnieszka Kolakowska and Anna Pawczynska. Finally, the conservative interpretation of the culture war is compared with the liberal and left-wing interpretations in order to point out the links, connections, as well as differences between them.","PeriodicalId":350367,"journal":{"name":"Dialogi Polityczne","volume":"26 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141104728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These protests, as well as the trade war and the growing tension between Washington and Beijing, aroused the anxiety of foreign investors and led to the collapse of Hong Kong’s economy. The article presents the hegemonism of the United States, which decided to use these protests to expand their political and economic influence and interfered without reason in the internal affairs of the PRC. Similarly, the policy of the EU countries, which are so eager to criticize Poland for the lack of the rule of law, in this case was limited to admonishing China for fear of deteriorating mutual trade relations. The main hypothesis of the article is that even if Hong Kong’s status as a financial center suffers some negative impact due to US sanctions, its negative impact on China as a whole, will be quite limited and will only hit Hong Kong’s speculative capital. On the basis of the conducted studies, it can be assumed that the new area of the conflict between the US and the PRC will strengthen Chinese totalitarianism in Hong Kong, which comes down to the total subordination of the individual and all manifestations of social life to the state power. This thesis is in line with the statement by Liu Guangyuan, China’s ambassador in Poland, stating in regard to recent events that: “Hong Kong must be ruled by patriots”. Reports from renowned research centers predict that the next decades of world politics will be marked by Washington’s competition with Beijing. The aggressive rivalry that turns into an open confrontation between the US, Western countries and China opens a dangerous new chapter in modern history.","PeriodicalId":350367,"journal":{"name":"Dialogi Polityczne","volume":"9 26","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141104527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hayeka krytyka pojęcia “sprawiedliwości społecznej” czy “dystrybutywnej”, sformułowana w jego książce Prawo, legislacja i wolność. Jej podstawę stanowi teoria ładu spontanicznego, oparta na przeciwstawieniu dwóch rodzajów porządku: wyrosłego, powstałego w wyniku przestrzegania przez jego elementy pewnych ogólnych zasad, oraz organizacji, powstałej przez świadome i celowe uporządkowanie elementów struktury. Głównym twierdzeniem Hayek głosi, że nowoczesne społeczeństwo, jako należące do ładów spontanicznych, nie podlega ocenom ze względu na sprawiedliwość i niesprawiedliwość. Takie ujęcie przeciwstawia się pewnym głęboko zakorzenionym intuicjom moralnym, których Hayekowską analizę i odrzucenie rekonstruujemy w środkowej partii tekstu. W wielu krajach osoby zaangażowane w funkcjonowanie społeczeństwa obywatelskiego domagają się realizacji jego założeń. Liczne organizacje pozarządowe propagują idee demokracji deliberatywnej i zajmują się faktycznym umieszczaniem ich w ramach życia publicznego. Jedną z takich organizacji jest brytyjska fundacja Involve. Obszar jej działania obejmuje nie tylko szerzenie wiedzy i doradztwo w zakresie deliberacji, ale także aktywny udział w podejmowaniu największych tego typu inicjatyw (takich jak np. panele obywatelskie). Celem niniejszego artykułu jest krótkie przedstawienie podstawowych działań Involve z ostatnich lat oraz wskazanie takich kwestii jak sposób rozumienia demokracji deliberatywnej przez tego typu organizacje, praktyczna realizacja jej postulatów oraz efekty podejmowanych działań. Artykuł ma być krótkim wprowadzeniem do dalszych rozważań nad odbiciem teoretycznych założeń demokracji deliberatywnej w realiach demokratycznej sceny politycznej, opartych na analizie organizacji, dla których jest to podstawowy obszar działania.","PeriodicalId":350367,"journal":{"name":"Dialogi Polityczne","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114421784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nadal zresztą nie są dla niektórych publicystów, zajmujących się tą dziedziną. W klasycznym okresie część badaczy uległa fascynacji odkryciem związków pomiędzy geografią a losami państw, społeczeństw i ludów do tego stopnia, że uważali je za jedyny czynnik mający istotny na nie wpływ. W niektórych przypadkach zaprowadziło ich to – jak Friedricha Ratzla – do konstruowania programów politycznych, które miały tragiczne i zbrodnicze konsekwencje. Nurt determinizmu geograficznego spotkał się z naukową polemiką, z której wyłonił się posybilizm geograficzny – pogląd, w myśl którego geografia stwarza człowiekowi pewne możliwości, w których on, działając podmiotowo, może wybierać. Celem tej pracy jest precyzyjne zdefiniowanie determinizmu i posybilizmu geograficznego oraz wskazanie ich elementów konstytutywnych.
