Since driving simulators are usually cumbersome and very expensive machines, aim of the research is to conceive a simplified and small simulator to enhance the driving feeling, which for the static simulators based only on virtual reality is very poor. The final goal should be to provide the apparatus to various categories of drivers - eg. truck drivers, disables, young and old peoples, etc - in order to expand the data bases of accidents for road safety, to use it as a teaching tool and a driving ability test. Starting from the analysis of human motion perception and from vehicle dynamics, the synthesis of the simulator has been completed. The systempsilas kinematics and dynamics are analytically described. The systempsilas performances have been analyzed by simulation and the actions transmitted to the driver have been compared with those estimated by means of the multi-body model of the vehicle riding on a selected path. The kinematics of the seat of the driving simulator can be quite different from the kinematics of the car seat: in fact only the actions that can be sensed by the driver need to be approximately reproduced and not necessarily the kinematics. The robot employs color object detection techniques based on neural networks in its vision system. In this approach a quite simple architecture is employed to detect and localize objects in robot’s work space. The architecture is designed to be very easy-implement and also surprisingly fast to work on such a real-time system. Also a mapping system is attached to the object detection one, in order to estimate object locations. The proposed controller is comprised of a linear, a neuro-adaptive, and an adaptive robustifying control term. The learning rules for adaptive gains, including weights of the neural network, are derived using the Lyapunovpsilas direct method. These adaptation laws employ a suitable output of a linear observer of system dynamics that is realizable. In the proposed system, a Gaussian beam is emitted from a laser source with wavelength lambda = 633 nm, and incident on to a fixed quad-cell photo-detector array, which captures the light intensity distribution. A methodology will be developed to estimate the position of the beam on the plane of photodetectors, by finding a relationship between the optical power distribution of the quadcell and the x-y spatial axis of the centroid of the beam. This will enable us to identify certain characteristics of the vibration applied, such as direction, frequency and strength. The operations are controlled by a number of clutches and a brake. The drive also consists of a spring which can be used to repeatedly transfer packets of energy from the input to the load in such a way that a variable speed ratio is achieved. The dual-mode drive concept was investigated by the development of a prototype which is controlled from a PC through two interfacing cards and a number of drivers and sensors. The performance of the built prototype was analysed and compared with simulation. Abnormality in papaya fruit shape represents a defective fruit and is used as one of the main criteria to determine suitability of the fruit to be exported. This paper describes a wavelet-based technique used to perform feature extraction to extract unique features which are then used in the classification task to discriminate deformed papaya fruits from well formed fruits using image processing approach. The proposed system is capable of handling electronic ballots with multiple scopes at the same time, e.g., presidential, municipal, parliamentary, amongst others. The system caters for integrity of an election process in terms of the functional and non-functional requirements. The functional requirements embedded in the design of the proposed system warrant well-secured identification and authentication processes for the voter through the use of combined simple biometrics. The design of the system guarantees that no votes in favor of a given candidate are lost, due to improper tallying of the voting counts, with the proper incorporation of system FLAGpsilas. Transparency of voting follows through in all phases of an election process to assure the voter that his/her vote went in favor of his/her candidate of choice. Besides its main functional properties, the proposed system is designed to cater for several essential nonfunctional requirements. Of utmost importance are the requirements for correctness, robustness, coherence, consistency, and security. To verify the robustness and reliability of the proposed system, intensive computer simulations were run under varying voting environments, viz. voter density, voter inter-arrival times, introduced acts of malice, etc. Results of the simulations show that security and performance of the system are according to expectations. It consists of capacitive card reader system, an integrator, rectifying circuit, an 8051 microcontroller and LED indicators. Initially rectangular patterns of different lengths are being recognized successfully. The patterns on the security card are scanned with a thin conducting plate, which is the part of the reading system, when card is inserted in the reading system. The variations in the heights of the patterns are being converted into voltages with the help of an integrator. Output of the integrator, after rectification, is converted to digital form and fed to the microcontroller. These data are compared with the data stored in the memory of the microcontroller. A new setup, including vision feedback and employing xPC targetreg makes it easy to implement various controllers. System identification and controller design is conducted in real time manner. New arrangement can be used in a tele-lab operation for educational and research purposes. A Simulinkreg model is developed to do both simulation (analysis, synthesizes and controller design) and real time implementation. Indeed, the proposed method has hardware in the loop property. Ball and beam system is severely nonlinear, so we utilize two stage controller to manage with this problem.
