The dessert form prepared in India is a type of pudding, called Halwa , made by cooking the pumpkin pulp in ghee (clarified butter) and milk. High in nutritional content, halwas also possess the capability to efficiently deliver the phytochemicals present in the basic foods from which these are made. This phytochemical delivery is accomplished by ghee and milk proteins, which behave as phytochemical carriers","PeriodicalId":350008,"journal":{"name":"Current Research in Complementary & Alternative Medicine","volume":"101 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139198520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several effects of DM have been known by researchers, but there have been no reports of the effects of cognitive impairment. Therefore, in this study examined anti-amnesic activity with its potential mechanism of action using scopolamine induced amnesic C57/BL6N mice. The effect of DM on cognitive impairment improvement on scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice was evaluated using passive avoidance test and y-maze test. Besides, ELISA and Western Blot analysis were performed to examine several molecular markers such as inflammatory markers, oxidative stress markers, and BDNF signaling that occur in memory damage caused by scopolamine. The administration of DML (100 or 200 mg/kg, p.o.) significantly ameliorated the scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment in the passive avoidance task, the Y-maze. Also, the administration of DM suppressed increased brain inflammatory markers (iNOS, cox-2, IL-1α, IL-6, IFN-α), lipid peroxidation (MDA), and BDNF expression. Current research suggests that DM improves cognitive dysfunction by regulating molecules caused by neuroinflammatory and oxidative damage leading to nerve damage and may have therapeutic potential for cognitive dysfunction.","PeriodicalId":350008,"journal":{"name":"Current Research in Complementary & Alternative Medicine","volume":"621 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139245075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many of the organ systems of the human body, including the cardiac system, musculoskeletal system, and central nervous system, utilizes a DC energy current to operate. Skin, in particular, uses a small DC electrical field to guide cell migration and wound healing after injury, a process known as electrotaxis. Recent research into exogenously applied DC energy has shown promising results in boosting keratinocyte recovery and improved wound healing, which gives rise to the possibility of applying the earth’s DC energy field directly to the skin (a healing modality known as grounding) to support skin health. There are several health benefits from grounding that may directly boost the skin’s ability to heal, including improving circulation to the skin (which boosts oxygen and nutrients as well as removes metabolic waste) and improved keratinocyte repair in both healthy keratinocytes and damaged keratinocytes. Indirectly, grounding may also protect skin by deepening sleep, which has been found to improve collagen integrity and may help protect skin volume, firmness and elasticity, preserving it’s strength. This is an exciting area of research that has interesting applications not only to help treat dermatologic conditions and to improve wound healing, but also in the anti-aging and cosmetic industry as well. More research on the health benefits of DC energy, and in particular receiving DC energy through direct contact with the earth’s global electrical DC energy grid via grounding, is much needed.","PeriodicalId":350008,"journal":{"name":"Current Research in Complementary & Alternative Medicine","volume":"50 11-12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133567442","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of the study are also compared with plasma concentration of free Curcumin by Standard Curcumin as reported in the literature [17]. Methodology: Comparative bioavailability of free curcumin for three Capsules of Maxicuma 500 mg and three Capsules of Micronized Curcumin 95%, (500) mg was evaluated in an open label, non-randomized, two-treatment, two-period, two-group crossover study after single oral dose administration in 14 fasted healthy adult humans. The free Curcumin was determined along with pharmacokinetic parameters such as Cmax, AUC0-t, T1/2, Ke, Tmax, %AUC extra, n points, Ke_first and Ke_last. Linear & Semi log graphs were plotted with the help of SASR ® . In addition, the total Curcuminoids (Comprising Curcumin, Bis-Demethoxy curcumin, Demethoxy curcumin & Tetra hydrocurcumin) after reaction with mixture of glucuronidas3 + sulphatase enzyme was estimated in plasma using validated LC-MS-MS method. Results: Data from the study reveals that the maximum measured plasma concentration of free Curcumin was 195.196 ng/mL for Maxicuma and 81.270 ng/mL for Micronized Curcumin 95%. The times where maximum plasma concentration of free Curcumin achieved for the Maxicuma and Micronized Curcumin 95%, were 3.129 hours and 4.750 hours respectively. Conclusion: Maxicuma composition was 3.11 fold more bioavailable, in terms of free Curcumin level, as compared to Micronized Curcumin 95%. As it is known from the literature that, micronization enhances the bioavailability by 9 folds, one can conclude that Maxicuma was 66.47(3.11/0.4 x 0.95 x 9) times more bioavailable in terms of total Curcuminoids compared to Standard Curcumin extract powder 95% and based on the literature study, provides 172 times more bioactive free Curcumin when compared to Standard Curcumin 95%.","PeriodicalId":350008,"journal":{"name":"Current Research in Complementary & Alternative Medicine","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130703787","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Anyone who works with acupuncture or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is acutely aware of the complexity of achieving a true integration of these Eastern practices into Western medicine, a process hampered by the difficulty in finding a unique biological explanation for the established efficacy of TCM therapies. Despite such difficulty, acupuncture application is expanding, and clinical evidence is growing rapidly. We submit that it is just about time to start integrating the two worlds bridging the gap between them.
