It is also being used in various codes of ethics, and investigated by means of various methods. However a review of the contemporary reference literature reveals various meanings associated with this term, which is followed by its variable applicability. It is mentioned among the desirable virtues possessed by the professionals. In various Polish codes of engineering ethics there is an absence of the integrity concept, at least comprehended as fully as it is in the ethics literature. The paper contains an analysis of the meaning of integrity in English and its translations into Polish in selected codes of engineering ethics. The scopes of the used terms are compared and in result it is postulated that some initiatives be undertaken in order to clarify the discrepancies existing in various engineering codes of ethics around the professional integrity concept.","PeriodicalId":349893,"journal":{"name":"Annales. Therefore, after presenting some\u0000definitions of the concepts of human nature, which depict the complexity of these\u0000phenomena, some models of the concepts of human nature are described. Furthermore,\u0000the setting of the concepts of human nature in the organizational life is\u0000discussed. Those concepts can be perceived as a deep-structure of the organizational\u0000life, having an impact not only on the individual behaviour of employees\u0000and managers (like sensibility for human emotions, pro-social engagement, communication\u0000style), but also affecting their moral competence and influencing\u0000whole organizational culture – image of the organization, preferred management\u0000strategies and the way of perceiving justice. Those elements play crucial role in\u0000ethical attitude of the organization because all those variables support the efficacy\u0000of ethical rules and most of them are part of ethical code and corporate ethical\u0000code. Therefore, it is necessary for an organization to consider implicit and explicit\u0000concepts of human nature on which the organizational culture is based and support\u0000those concepts, which enables the ethical conduct of the organization and\u0000being alert especially to the consequences of materialistic/egoistic and competitive\u0000concepts of human nature. Deepening the understanding of this basic social\u0000group can be useful in explaining how human beings in their decisions and actions,\u0000as well as organizations, unceasingly transcend different oppositions and\u0000dimensions.\u0000Undertaking this topic is not only important in the context of understanding\u0000the fundamental and complex experience of family life in the process of preparing\u0000and introducing new members to society, but also from the organizational perspective.\u0000It means that exploring the role of both dimensions – charismatic and institutional\u0000– which are somehow complementary, is crucial for understanding and\u0000harmonizing the different relationships and interactions within organizations,\u0000including business ones. The world\u0000economy has simultaneously expanded (the number of states/organization participating\u0000in world trade or the volume of heterogeneous transactions) and shrunk\u0000(close interrelations between transactions, no matter their geographic origins).\u0000Economic policy has gained an indispensable role in the creation of order in international\u0000relations and foreign policy. The tendency to prioritize foreign policy\u0000aims towards economic policy aims has resulted in ‘reverse flow’, i.e. foreign\u0000policy has become a central part of national economic policy.\u0000The engagement of external action services and public budget in economic\u0000promotion and investments triggers (inter alia) the ethics dilemma. The mentioned\u0000ethical aspect is often omitted when discussing ‘the economic foreign policy’. For\u0000instance, the ethics dilemma can appear when development and humanitarian aid\u0000are taken into account or when it comes to assessing the results (and membership)\u0000of economic missions. In this context, the author analyses the Polish foreign policy\u0000example and attempts to answer two questions. First, are the economic activities\u0000performed by external action services effective? Second, are the mentioned\u0000activities in accordance with the social ethical code of conduct? One of them is zakāt (almsgiving), i.e. giving 2.5% of one’s wealth to the\u0000poor and needy.\u0000In contrary to Christian religion, where question of charity is rather of a voluntary\u0000matter, the role of zakāt in Islam is much more rigidly described. Almsgiving\u0000is considered as a duty of a pious Muslim towards the poor. Thus in Islamic\u0000economy, strongly based on Islam principles given by Allah to Muhammad, zakāt\u0000is imposed by law and is not considered a charity but duty rather. The notion of\u0000zakāt is mentioned in Qur-an over a 100 times, solely or in conjunction with other\u0000commandments. On a basis that zakāt is to be paid as a part of total wealth exceeding\u0000given minimum wealth (nisab) it is then justifiable to say that zakāt is\u0000principally a tax.\u0000A role of this essay is to shed some light on a utilisation and role of zakāt in\u0000Islamic economies in socioeconomic context, with an example of Islamic Republic\u0000of Pakistan, where in 1980 the Zakāt Ordinance was imposed. The concept of\u0000zakāt is present in many Islamic countries, but its nature varies, being dependent\u0000from the interpretation of religious law in a given country. Everywhere though, its\u0000social role as an important tool maintaining social justice is strongly expressed.\u0000Of course zakāt system also has its drawbacks and is subjected to much criticism.\u0000The article aims to present both advantages and negative aspects of zakāt.","PeriodicalId":349893,"journal":{"name":"Annales. Taking it into account it is worth asking about the relationship between\u0000these particular ‘game rules’ contained into electoral law and the respect of\u0000the rule of law, being one of the basic norms of a democratic system. A question\u0000then may be raised about the existence and the character of the relation between\u0000electoral systems and the level of political corruption. It is worth noticing that\u0000besides the research conducted by political scientists and the representatives of\u0000various branches of social sciences the significant analysis of the issue have been\u0000presented by the economists.\u0000In this article a brief overview of the economic studies on the relationship between\u0000level of political corruption and the electoral systems is presented so as to\u0000assess to what degree this approach may be treated as fruitful.","PeriodicalId":349893,"journal":{"name":"Annales. In Islam, economic behaviours\u0000and transactions cannot be separated from ethics and values. The Islamic\u0000principles are intended to govern, direct and control human beings’ behaviours in\u0000their daily economic lives. They are aimed at helping people to distinguish between\u0000good and bad things while they do any economic activity.\u0000It is worth noting that the moral values in Islamic economics are derived\u0000from the main sources of Islam namely: the Quran (the holy book of Islamic religion)\u0000and Sunnah (the teachings and behaviours of the prophet of Islam: Muhammad\u0000PBUH 570-632 AD). Specific codified norms are presented and their likely effects discussed on two levels: personal and social.\u0000The findings show, that not all of the codes of ethics solve the development problem identically, with the differences likely to cause some variability in be-havioural patterns among members of the professional societies.\u0000The analysis suggests the need for further research and analyses as well as the standardization of codified solutions to this problem among professional engineering societies.","PeriodicalId":349893,"journal":{"name":"Annales. Several years ago, the entrepreneur in Poland was associated with corruption and borderline legal activities. Today, many entrepreneurs are looked upon as positive role models. Social acceptance of entrepreneurial attitudes in Poland is growing. Increased susceptibility to entrepreneurial behaviour in a society will increase the rate at which new businesses are established, enhancing market dynamics, and accelerating innovative changes. But in Poland entrepreneurs are not seen as a positive example, unlike in the United States. Willingness to take risks, self-expression and independence are not met with social acceptance, especially if rewarded with high incomes. The research undertaken by the author is aimed at analysing the essence of entrepreneurial attitudes and changes in the social acceptance of entrepreneurial behaviour.","PeriodicalId":349893,"journal":{"name":"Annales.
