Dessa forma realizou-se um estudo atraves de questionarios aplicados a usuarios do Modulo Mandhuy e subsidios teoricos que possam fundamentar a pesquisa no sentido de averiguar como o cidadao urbano muitas vezes privado de espacos publicos para lazer percebe e apropria-se de espacos onde o uso e limitado. Two independent studies, carried out in downtown Curitiba, Parana, are presented, from field measurements in 2009 and urban climate simulations using the ENVI-met software suite. Both studies, whereas dealing with the same physical area, have distinct objectives and workflows. The first study focuses on the impact of street geometry on the ambient temperature and pedestrian comfort levels in daytime, using the skyview factor as an indicator of the complexity of the urban geometry. The second study evaluates the impact of street orientation in relation to prevailing winds and the resulting effects of ventilation (air speed and spatial distribution) on the dispersion of traffic-generated air pollutants. That relation, whenever studied, happens – many times – in an oblique or tangential way, this means that it lies almost exclusively confined in the act of notifying that Kant offered, for approximately four decades, “Physical Geography” courses in Konigsberg, or, that he was the first philosopher teaching the subject at any College, even before the creation of Geography chair in Berlin, in 1820, by Karl Ritter. Not overcoming the early spread of that act itself only made us throw a curtain over the absence of a major understanding about Kant’s tribute to epistemic justification of modern and scientific geography. To open a breach in this curtain indicates, necessarily, to lighten the role and place of “ Physical Geography Course ” inside Kantian transcendental philosophy. So, we began from the conjecture that “ Physical Geography ” has always shown for Kant as a knowledge carrier of an unmeasured philosophic sense, once it showed the possibility of empiricization of his philosophy. Therefore, a “ Physical Geography ” would be, for Kant, the empiric basis of his philosophic thoughts, because it communicates the empirics of the world invention ; it made him to build metaphysically the “ Earth’s surface ”. The text begins with a brief history of episodes of air pollution more harmful to health in the world, and which acted as indicative of the need for countries to establish criteria and parameters of control and monitoring of air quality, and develop legal instruments of surveillance. It tackles the regulatory actions that were implemented in Brazil in search of better air quality in cities. The proven correlation between air pollutants and increase in the incidence of morbidity and mortality among residents of metropolitan areas, and large and medium-sized Brazilian cities is evidenced by findings in the literature. These results indicate as necessary to revise the limits applied to the current air quality index, which from the world point of view, already have been modified by the WHO. A metodologia aplicada fundamenta-se na utilizacao do sistema de informacao geografica, aliado ao sensoriamento remoto. Foram geradas series temporais de planos de informacoes (tipos de cobertura vegetal e categorias de uso da terra), os quais foram cruzados, para acompanhar a evolucao da mancha urbana. Observacoes de campo e levantamentos bibliograficos foram necessarios para o apoio a compreensao dessa dinâmica. Detectou-se uma forte dinâmica espacial da ocupacao antropica no perimetro urbano de Paranagua; entre 1952 e 1996, a area antropizada foi de 2.269 ha. Tal antropizacao ocorreu a partir do centro da cidade em direcao ao porto e nas margens dos rios que a banham; e decorrente principalmente dos ciclos economicos ligados ao setor portuario, a migracao, ao crescimento natural da populacao e ao acesso as praias. Spatial dynamic analysis of antropic occupation in Paranagua-PR (1952-1996), through the geographical information use Abstract This study covers the spatial dynamics of anthropic occupation in the urban area of Paranagua, Parana, Brazil, in the years 1952, 1962, 1980, and 1996. The methodology applied was based on GIS (Geographical Information System) associated to remote sensing. Temporal series of information plans were generated (types of vegetation and land use categories), and the information therefore were crossed in order to observe the evolution of the urban sprawl. Field observation and bibliographic surveys were required to support the understanding of such dynamics. It was found strong spatial dynamics of anthropic occupation in the urban area of Paranagua; between 1952 and 1996, the area occupied was 2.269 ha.
