{"title":"Birthplace as a factor of influence for the sporting success of Brazilian Olympic gymnasts","authors":"","doi":"10.51995/2237-3373.v13i3e110063","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.51995/2237-3373.v13i3e110063","url":null,"abstract":"The main objective of this study was to identify the population and socioeconomic profile of the place of birth of Brazilian Olympic gymnasts in the three gymnastics disciplines that are part of the Olympic Games program (Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics, individual and team Rhythmic Gymnastics, and Men's and Women's Trampoline Gymnastics) and their relationship with international sporting success. This study was characterized as descriptive, with a quantitative approach using the following analysis factors: State of the country, Region of the country, Number of inhabitants, Demographic Density, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, and Municipal Human Development Index (MDI). The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study is original in that it gathers diverse information about athletes who represented Brazil in different editions of the Olympic Games in a specific group of sports and contributes to understanding factors that influence international sports success for gymnastics modalities in the Brazilian context. The data indicate that Brazilian Olympic gymnasts from cities in the South and Southeast regions of the country, with more than 100,001 inhabitants, with a demographic density greater than 1869.37 inhabitants/km2, and with a high or very high HDI are more likely to achieve international sporting success. The goal of this study is to understand, with students in their third year of a degree in sports management at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, their perceptions of future integration in the current labor market in Sports Management based on sustained practices and based on a set of variables: the importance of the sports manager; organizational management; sports manager skills; and future challenges. According to the sociodemographic analysis, there was little variation among students regarding age, gender, household, geographical proximity to Lisbon's urban center, and nationality. A quantitative descriptive methodology was employed. The motivation for this study arises from the practical demands in the school setting regarding architectural accessibility, instrumental resources, teaching strategies, and interpersonal relationships, where the social world is constructed by different social actors in the school and students with disabilities. A systematic review methodology was employed, utilizing electronic databases and reference lists of identified articles. The inclusion criteria included studies that focused on adolescents with physical disabilities, utilized measures of inclusive physical activity, were related to elementary education, involved the training of physical education teachers, and were original research articles. The review process involved the evaluation of titles, abstracts, and full texts according to predefined criteria. The selected articles were analyzed for sample characteristics, assessment instruments, inclusive activities, and teaching methodologies in physical education, implementation of active methodologies with physically disabled students, teacher training and pedagogical methodologies, ethical considerations, and the journal in which the article was published. The studies analyzed encompass various perspectives and methodological proposals for physical education and the inclusion of students. Five categories emerged from the analysis: concepts and practices of inclusion, student participation, diverse socio-educational environment, use of technological resources, and teacher perception and practice. The findings emphasize the importance of promoting inclusive practices, listening to students' experiences, creating an inclusive school environment, incorporating technological resources with pedagogical mediation, and providing continuous teacher training. The sample categorization had a quantitative of 108 people, stratified between managers (8) and community participants (100) of social projects in sports equipment belonging to and under the managerial responsibility of the Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Secel) and Municipal Secretariat for Youth (SMJ). The equipment investigated was the Areninhas, under the responsibility of Secel, and the Cucas, under the responsibility of the SMJ. The present study sought to analyze the contributions of athletics and the Sport Education model in Physical Education classes. The research was carried out through a systematic review, with data collection between March and May 2023 in electronic databases: ERIC, MEDLINE/PubMed, CAPES Portal, SAGE Journals, Scielo, Scopus, and Web of Science. The results showed 11 studies that address two themes: 1- Didactics of athletics; 2- Performance of skills. It was observed that few studies relate athletics to Sport Education, and the existing ones are mostly concentrated in the same country. We highlight the relevance of the pedagogical focus on athletics in dialogue with the performance of skills (motor, cognitive and socio-affective) present in the Sport Education model, bearing in mind that the development of that model can increase the educational results expected from the student-centered intervention. This sport has many fans, both professionals and amateurs; with this factor of high incidence of practitioners, this sport ends up having a high rate of injuries due to irregular lawns and physical contact between players. Objective: To investigate the differences of preventive programs with regard to their components, the frequency, and duration of training, when training is carried out in relation to the sports season, and its ability to prevent ACL tears in soccer players. The physiotherapist is essential from before the injury, thus being able to monitor and evaluate the athlete, thus identifying possible injuries and developing a specific preventive work so that this athlete does not suffer from future injuries. Methods: The systematic review was followed using the PRISMA guidelines, and the search was performed in the PubMED database in English. Mesh and DeCS recommended the search terms, and the descriptors “Anterior Cruciate Ligament”, “Soccer”, “Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injuries”, ´´Tertiary Prevention`` were used and to combine the search descriptors the “AND” was used. The inclusion criteria in the research were: soccer players who had an ACL injury; articles that addressed evident data on the injury mechanism in the ACL; English language; respecting the time between 2013 and 2023. Exclusion criteria were books, book chapters, abstracts and articles that did not present research on ACL injuries and samples that did not report being from soccer players. Results: n=197 articles were found in the PubMED database. After applying the exclusion criteria, we obtained n= 9 results. The 9 articles that make up this study are in English. For this purpose, a thorough Boolean search was carried out, using keywords such as service quality, gyms - fitness centers, satisfaction, perceived value in various databases: EbscoHost, Scopus, Redalyc, Dialnet, DOAJ, Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, ProQuest, Sport Discus and Google Scholar. Subsequently, a total of 13266 articles were found, of which 4846 were eliminated and the remaining articles were filtered according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, obtaining 50 articles plus 10 official reports from national and international sports institutions. Ten articles were then selected to answer the questions and objectives of this study, finally using a total of 60 documents. Consequently, the information analyzed made it possible to identify which aspects are connected to a higher perceived value by members and, therefore, to a better quality of service: equipment and environments in good condition, trained instructors, economic offers, safety, diverse training programs and accessible schedules. At the same time, it verifies the plausibility of Barreto's (2010) definition of dynamic capability as a rational assumption in selecting capabilities. Our empirical scenario used a cross-sectional survey where the perception of 77 managers identified the importance of 18 dynamic capabilities. The statistical tools used were “consensus” and multiple linear regression. The results suggest (1) that Barreto's definition has empirical validity, acts as a dynamic system, and is plausible for selecting dynamic capabilities; (2) the rational method of choosing capabilities is an essential strategic source in adapting the business model; (3) the binomial Barreto's definition and rational method of choice is an adequate method of scrutinizing dynamic capabilities; (4) some capabilities are conditional on mediating or moderating other capabilities to influence performance. In this regard, Executive Coaching has been one of the possibilities of training and development in organizations from different areas, and its application in different contexts has been evaluated and addressed in academic research and scientific literature. However, although Human Resources management literature in sports organizations mentions about Executive Coaching, processes and results obtained in interventions are not cited nor described. This article aims to present elements related to the applicability and approaches’, methods’ and research strategies’ relevance indicated by the Coaching and Executive Coaching literature through an Executive Coaching process carried out with a manager from a private non-profit organization that develops a sport program. The original study was a case study, carried out through action research, covering the following steps: Diagnosis, Executive Coaching Intervention and Evaluation. This article is descriptive, in which the procedures, instruments, the characterization of the coach and the coachee, and the treatment and analysis of information are described and analyzed. The triangulation of the obtained results indicates that strategies, methods and coaching approach applied led to the achievement of positive results both in the manager's individual and organizational performance. It was concluded that Executive Coaching can be applied in the context of Sports Management, with a sports program manager, following structured procedures and based on literature and research from other areas.
