These tumors usually appear during childhood or young patients, with predominance in females. \u0000Case description: We introduce the case of ASPS in a 62-year-old man, who presented with 7 months of progressive headache and diplopia. The brain MRI showed an infiltrative lesion in the anterior fossa that extended to the right orbital roof. The possibility of metastasis was ruled out. The patient underwent resection of the tumor with posteriorly good visual and neurologic recovery. Histologic characterization demonstrated homogeneous eosinophilic cells with a solid, vascularized pattern, cells with large and binucleated nucleoli, and vessels with endothelial and myoepithelial hyperplasia; numerous apoptotic bodies and mitosis figures were also present, but no necrosis. On immunohistochemistry, cells exhibited positive CD56, NSE in membrane form, and slight myogenin; vessels were strongly positive for myogenin, myoglobin, CD34, CD31, factor VIII, vimentin, and nestin as well as for HBM45, CD20, GFAP, and S-100; cytokeratin showed fine extracellular and intracellular filaments; GATA and TTF1 were negative. Some clear cells were observed to be positive for CD68. The piece was diagnosed as a non-meningeal alveolar sarcoma of the soft tissue with solid pattern. \u0000Discussion and Conclusion: This case corresponds to the second tumor of this kind presented at our institution, the first one reported, and perhaps, one of the oldest patients to develop it worldwide.","PeriodicalId":34902,"journal":{"name":"Archivos de Neurociencias","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87620993","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Si bien existen fármacos para su terapéutica, en ocasiones éstos resultan ineficaces y promueven efectos adversos que conllevan a la falta de apego por parte del paciente. Especies del género Annona son utilizadas en la medicina tradicional Mexicana por sus propiedades inhibitorias del SNC, de los cuales ya se han reportado sus propiedades como ansiolítico-sedantes y anticonvulsivos, además de sus propiedades como anticancerígenos, antioxidantes y anti-inflamatorios. El objetivo de este estudio consistió en realizar un cernimiento de los posibles efectos inhibidores en el SNC de la especie Annona reticulata (A. reticulata) sobre modelos experimentales en roedores. Método: A. reticulata se utilizó preparada como un extracto etanólico, para evaluar sus efectos como ansiolitico y antidepresivo en la prueba de nado forzado y como anticonvulsivo en la prueba de crisis convulsivas inducidas con pentilentetrazol en ratas, también se probó su efecto como ansiolítico en la prueba de enterramiento de canicas. Imipramina, valproato de sodio y diazepam se utilizaron como fármacos de referencia, respectivamente. Resultados: A. reticulata redujo la conducta depresiva, además aumentó la latencia y disminuyó la severidad de las crisis convulsivas, y disminuyó la respuesta tipo ansiedad de los ratones. Conclusión: este estudio da evidencia preclínica de las propiedades como antidepresivo, ansiolítico y anticonvulsivo de las hojas de A. reticulata, reforzando su potencial en la búsqueda de alternativas para afecciones del SNC.","PeriodicalId":34902,"journal":{"name":"Archivos de Neurociencias","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91014235","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dos factores han contribuido de manera determinante para que empiece a ser considerado como una entidad clínicamente significativa: a) una mejor evaluación familiar y del entorno social de los enfermos diagnosticados como psicóticos y, b) la identificación precisa de los casos, muchos de los cuales son rescatados de la literatura y la historia, a veces con más carácter anecdótico que científico. Es importante señalar que entre más se hurga en el pasado, se ha encontrado que es tan antiguo como lo puede ser la humanidad misma. En el presente trabajo de investigación se describe un caso que presenció unos de los héroes más significativos del continente americano y el mundo occidental. Specifically, in educational scenarios, complications including an elevated rate of failed courses and desertion have been found. The reported prevalence of ADHD in adults varies widely, therefore studying specific populations becomes important. Objective: to determine the prevalence of ADHD in students at a public university using screening tools to determine the presence of current and retrospective symptomatology during childhood and to describe their sociodemographic characteristics. Method: the study was conducted with a probabilistic sample of undergraduate students (N = 1837), to whom the Adult Self Report Scale for ADHD (ASRS-6) and the Wender Utha Rating Scale (WURS) were administered to determine current and childhood ADHD symptoms. Results: the prevalence of ADHD in the studied population was 16.2%, with a significantly higher frequency in males (22.14%) than in females (13%). ADHD was most prevalent in Biology students (23.7%) and least in Nursery students (9.9%). Discussion and conclusion: results indicate a higher frequency of ADHD in Mexican undergraduate students than that reported in adult populations of other countries, but consistent with previous reports of Mexican undergraduate students and children. The association of ADHD and difficulties in academic, work, and social achievement in the studied population should be further investigated.","PeriodicalId":34902,"journal":{"name":"Archivos de Neurociencias","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81327527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
