After breast-conserving surgery, hypofractionated radiation (RT) is quickly becoming one of the alternatives for breast cancer patients (BCS). Objectives: The present study aimed to assess the thoracic radiotherapy's effects on patients with breast cancer's ability to breathe normally and engage in physical activity. Patients and methods : This was a prospective study which was carried out at Oncology Department & Chest Department of Qena University Hospitals. Spirometry was performed to all included patients to assess their lung function. Results: The mean and range of spirometer values 3 months after radiotherapy. The mean FEV1 was 65 % predicted, the mean FVC was 62.7 % predicted, the mean FEV1/FVC was 83.7% and the mean FEF 25%-75% was 70.27 % predicted. Conclusion : In radiotherapy, the lung is a major organ at risk because of the risk of radiation-induced lung injury. Silent radiation pneumonitis is a common side effect of radiotherapy. FEV1 and FVC parameters are decreased after radiotherapy due to acute radiation-induced lung injury. Spirometry can be used in assessing lung functions after radiotherapy. N3 stage showed significant decrease in FEV1 and FVC compared to other lower N stages. Max. lung dose was found to be the best predictor of the occurrence of radiation pneumonitis.","PeriodicalId":34789,"journal":{"name":"SVU International Journal of Medical Sciences","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82214311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Correction of refractive errors can be divided into optical & surgical methods with global tendency toward the surgical correction of refractive errors which is highly dependent on determining the central corneal thickness. Objectives: the study was done to assess the relation between the central corneal thickness corneal curvature and axial length of the eye in myopic, and hypermetropic patients. Patients and methods: The patients in this study were selected from the outpatient clinic of ophthalmology department, Qena University Hospital, South Valley University. The data collection sheet enclosed personal data (age, gender), visual acuity, refraction, keratometry, axial length of the eye, & central corneal thickness of 140 patients. Results: In this study most of the cases were females (65%) in the age group (7-39y). Myopia is the most common refractive error (68%). Increasing axial length of the eye is associated with increase in myopic refraction& mild flattening of corneal curvature. Steepening of corneal curvature is associated with mild decrease of the central corneal thickness. No significant correlation detected between axial length of the eye & central corneal thickness. Conclusion: Myopia is the most common refractive error. There is mild negative correlation between central corneal thickness & corneal curvature. Axial length of the eye has mild negative correlation with corneal curvature. While no significant correlation was detected between central corneal thickness & axial length of the eye.","PeriodicalId":34789,"journal":{"name":"SVU International Journal of Medical Sciences","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80317023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Early infancy is when this virus is most often contracted, particularly in developing nations. The frequency of H. pylori varies greatly across nations; in underdeveloped nations, 50% of children are infected by the time they become 10 years old. The beginning of several Gastro intestinal tract pathologies, including active persistent gastritis, peptic ulcers, gastric carcinoma, extragastric symptoms, thrombocytopenic purpura, and anemia owing to inadequate iron reserves iron deficiency anemia (IDA), is discovered to be related with H. Pylori infections. A link between anemia and H. pylori infections is supported by a variety of data from epidemiological and clinical research. Objectives: To highlight connection between Helicobacter pylori infections and IDA in children, and to explore the mechanism of this association. Conclusion : Infection with Helicobacter pylori is substantially linked with iron deficiency anemia in children.","PeriodicalId":34789,"journal":{"name":"SVU International Journal of Medical Sciences","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86614058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
