It contains information about the traditional types of upper and lower clothing, shoes and jewelry of the Volga-Ural Tatars (Kazan, Kasimov, Mishars, and Kryashens), as well as similar information on the costume of Astrakhan and Siberian Tatars living on the territory of the Russian Federation. Particular attention is paid to women's costume which characterizes folk arts and crafts to the greatest extent. A significant part of the collections is well passportised, indicating the region of existence, gender and age, and local terminology. The materials of the collections reflect the ethno-local and regional features of traditional clothing. On provision of firm attribution, museum objects have advantages over other historical sources. Artifacts from the early to mid–19th century and of the earlier period – medieval “imperishable” metal jewelry, leather goods, etc. are of particular value. They serve as a reliable illustration for the reconstruction of pre-national costume variations, which are extremely in demand in modern museum, theater, and ritual practices. When using the synchronous-diachronic methods of comparative historical analysis, museum artifacts considerably contribute to the study of the history of the Tatar costume, which largely reflects the ethno- and cultural genesis of the people as a whole.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"64 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135316462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The collection of folk-art objects is concentrated in the funds of the ethnography department of the museum. It comprehensively reflects the traditional everyday culture of the Karakalpak people. The objects of decorative and applied art of the Karakalpaks are concentrated in the following repositories: the fund of carpet products, jewelry, embroidery, wood, metal and leather products. Thematically, the collection is divided into jewelry items, horse equipment, carpets, yurt, clothing, kitchen utensils, and dishes. The author attempts to give a thematic and quantitative assessment of the collections of the Department of Ethnography. The analysis of the accession of exhibits did not allow identifying them by the area of existence, the place of purchase due to the absence of such information in the documentation. Most of the exhibits have only the information about the name of the object and its functional purpose. To create a complete picture of the accumulation of applied arts objects, statistical data on the accession of objects from 1967 to 2021 has been referred to, the dynamics of replenishment with exhibits is presented.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135322183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the work is to analyze the role of the religious factor in the Soviet period in the life of one of the ancient Tatar villages – Novoe Nadyrovo Almetyevsk district. The objectives of the research are to reveal the factors and realities of the transformation of religious consciousness in the Soviet period since more than 70 in-depth interviews conducted in the village. From time immemorial, Islam has played a consolidating role in the life of the rural community, providing a system of strong ethical and moral foundations; despite the anti-religious policy of the Soviet state, the role of religion in the life of society has been preserved. The prism of microhistoric research conducted by the method of oral history seems to be very functionally effective for interpreting the retrospective of the twentieth century. It serves the non-opportunistic scientific connotations of history, which was subjected to powerful ideologization in Soviet historiography and, because of this, largely distorted the picture of the civilizational space.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"32 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135322182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The international approach to calculating the Human Development Index, developed within the framework of the UN Development Program, is unified and does not pay attention to the socio-cultural (ethnic) factor. To assess its significance, the authors of the article carried out a discursive quantitative and qualitative analysis of the \"Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Republic of Tatarstan until 2030\" and semi-formalized interviews with experts. The purpose of the article: to identify the significance, foundations and meanings of the ethno-cultural component of the human capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and how they are implemented in practice. The results of the study revealed the high focus of Tatarstan on supporting the ethno-cultural component of the region’s human capital. Such a component is considered to be an indicator of the quality and diversity of the cultural life of the people living in Tatarstan. The republican government aims to develop human capital by supporting creative initiatives, motivating the population to build up creative competencies. The positioning of the republic as a region with international peace and harmony is used by Tatarstan to attract highly developed human capital from other regions and investors to stimulate its development.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"60 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135322204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Calligraphy,” representing one of the stages of the work of the famous artist. Works by V.A. Popov's are found to be of ever-increasing relevance – in connection with Russia's new turn towards the ideas of Eurasianism, towards cooperation with the countries of the East, an important mediator of which is Tatarstan. The calligraphic works of the master are shown in the context of his life and creative path involved with with the history of the country and the region, the development of the Tatar national culture and the Arabographic art of the republic. This reflects the uniqueness of the author’s concept of L.N. Donina, expressed in a detailed display of the creative path and civic stance of the artist. The reviewer notes the depth of the publication author's search for the meaning of V.A. Popov’s turn to Islamic graphics. This stage of his biography is interpreted as a period of finding answers to important life questions that were posed and solved by the artist. In the wisdom of Islam, he finds those ideas that resonate with his own spiritual search and do not contradict the postulates of other world religions. He expresses them in his characteristic expressive manner, using a wide range of means of artistic expression developed by him in previous years. This gives the author a reason to characterise the master’s work of this period as a synthesis of Tatar and Russian cultures, traditions of East and West. The article concludes that the work under review is an independent research work in which L.N. Donina, in addition to the main art criticism, uses general scientific and historical approaches. Album-catalogue “Vladimir Popov. Calligraphy” is certainly a creative achievement of the author.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135322851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The monograph was written on the basis of various sources and, primarily, the materials from field ethnographic studies conducted using the participant observation method among representatives of the Gagauz community. It is emphasized that the author used a new scientific approach, which made it possible to obtain original results. Elizaveta Kvilnikova studied the Gagauz using methods and approaches typical for such scientific disciplines as ethnology, ethnosociology and ethnopolitical science. She notes that among the Turkic peoples, the Gagauz have long held a unique place. The basis of their ethno-cultural code is Orthodoxy and Turkic background. According to E.N. Kvilinkova, the difficult position of Gagauzia in choosing its cultural and civilizational landmarks lies in the fact that the Balkan identity does not fit into the modern “strategy” of self-preservation of the Gagauz people and is in conflict with their dominant Turkic identity at this stage, with the eastern / Turkish vector of the foreign policy development strategy.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"65 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135316463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Karakalpak jewelry art is one of the brightest manifestations of the artistic culture of the people. Judging by the specimen preserved in the museum collections, they have much in common with the art of neighboring peoples in terms of names, pattern and form. Simultaneously, some Karakalpak jewelry has original ethnic and artistic features. The article presents all types of traditional Karakalpak jewelry dating back to the 19th – 20th centuries. Women’s jewelry are distinguished by notable features of originality and distinctive character, which testify to the existence of the Karakalpaks’ local school of jewelry art. The style of jewelry art of the Karakalpaks is characterized by integrity, monumentality, archaism of forms, clarity of contours, expressiveness and at the same time laconic decor. In the article, the author classifies the museum’s jewelry collection into the following categories: headdress ornaments; neck-chest ornaments; chest-waist ornaments, and ornaments for hands. The classification of women’s adornments of the Karakalpaks showed the undeniable wealth of their types, shapes and designs. In addition to the Karakalpak folk jewelry collection, information about the jewelry of the Uzbek, Turkmen and Kazakh peoples is also presented.","PeriodicalId":34778,"journal":{"name":"Istoricheskaia etnologiia","volume":"43 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135323025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
