In this study, we analyzed the impact of government support on UBMs market development through market orientation, and incoming innovation capacity. In addition, this study analyzed the impact of market orientation and innovation capacity on the market development of manufacturers’ UBMs. Because the whole manufacturers of UBMs in the Mekong Delta are small, the number of samples of the study is the target population - the whole overall with 78 owners or senior managers of micro, medium, and small manufacturing enterprises. For data analysis, we applied the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test both measurement and structural models. The results show that government support has a positive impact on the market development of UBMs through market development and innovation capacity. Furthermore, market development is also influenced by one’s market orientation and innovation capacity in terms of products, processes, and marketing. In this study, innovation capacity has the highest impact on the market development of UBMs of enterprises. This study has contributed to the knowledge related to the positive impact of government support on market orientation, on innovation capacity from the perspective of small, medium, and micro construction enterprises in Vietnam. Develop a new product market development model for small, medium, and micro enterprises by integrating external factors (government support) and internal resources of enterprises (market orientation and innovation capacity).","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90744711","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to clarify the impacts of globalisation on economic growth in the EU region. Based on panel data analysis with statistics collected from twenty-seven European Union member states continuously for the years 2004 to 2018, the results from the research show that globalisation in general and its all three dimensions including economic, political, and social globalisation have positive impacts on economic growth. Political globalisation has a lower impact level than the other aspects. This is the first research using three dimensions of the KOF Globalisation Index to examine the impact of globalisation on the EU-27 area and it does verify the impact of political and social globalisation on economic growth, in addition to the previous controversy about the impacts of these two aspects.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"05 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78816991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent sustainability researches have focused on the relationship between stress placed on the environment by economic activity and human well-being, known as the Carbon Intensity of Well-Being (CIWB). To contribute to this endeavor, the authors employ two-way fixed effects which analyze the impact of economic and environmental variables on CIWB in 09 lower middle-income countries from 2000 to 2018. We find that economic development includes gross domestic product and annual foreign direct investment, which are significantly negative effects on CIWB. That means economic growth reduced human well-being in the overall sample in the study period. Nevertheless, this effect is unsteady which indicates these countries should wisely choose strategies for sustainable development. In addition, the effect of energy consumption on CIWB has a significant positive in this study.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88132155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is one of the reasons explaining why farmer cooperatives have become one significant economical component in the Vietnamese economy. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of farmer cooperatives is really critical. However, the literature on farmer cooperatives in Vietnam is meager to understand the manner of its operations or promote this economical component. The system of farmer cooperatives in Vietnam has increasingly contributed to the GDP of Vietnam. In 2020, it contributed to GDP directly and indirectly at 4.8% and 30%, respectively. However, only 30% of farmer cooperatives are operating effectively; and there are many farmers who still do not want to participate in agricultural cooperatives. Hence, this study aims to explore farmers’ perceptions of agricultural cooperative characteristics preventing them from participating. The method employed to conduct this study is the mean-end chain approach and a total of 20 farmers and 02 representatives of cooperatives were interviewed by soft-laddering interview technique. The research findings show that there are 14 attributes (characteristics of a cooperative system), through 11 consequences, leading to 06 (farmers’) values. The findings can explain clearly the reasons preventing farmers from participating in agricultural cooperatives. Found (farmers’) values can help policymakers and management of cooperatives change/adjust manners to attract farmers and promote farmer cooperatives.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"87 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84108494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, they are more vulnerable to adverse changes due to the limited resources. The Covid-19 pandemic which started in the year 2020 has seriously challenged the SMEs operation. Their resilience becomes the first priority under this specific circumstance. This research was conducted to explore the factors affecting the resilience of SMEs in Ho Chi Minh City. By employing PLS-SEM on the data of 300 surveyed businesses, the effects of three key factors: leadership, human capital and social capital on SMEs resilience have been investigated. The findings reveals the signficant impacts of social capital, leadership and human capital on the SMEs resilience, especially in the context of Covid-19. The study results highlight that social capital mobilization should be prioritized for SMEs to promote their resilience in short term.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85243244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The adoption of Self-Service Technologies (SST) has brought many benefits, such as faster transaction speed and lower processing fees. Although previous studies show a positive relationship between the level of perceived benefits and involuntary use of SSTs and customer convenience, it is uncertain whether the level of innovation and benefits can influence the relationship between involuntary use of SSTs and customer convenience. In this study, we set up a noble research model and investigated the relationship between customer convenience and involuntary use, which was influenced by two moderators based on a sample of 345 customers in Korea. The results suggest that involuntary use is negatively related to customers’ comfort in using SSTs. Moreover, the perceived usefulness and innovativeness of SSTs may moderate the effect of involuntary use on customers’ comfort. Furthermore, managerial recommendations are proposed for managers to develop strategies for applying SSTs in their services.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74256562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Blockchain has become one of the key emerging technologies to bring promising results in the finance sector. These transformations and the use of decentralized ledger systems would contribute to significant changes in financial transaction processing and with the advent of distributed ledger technology and its ability to enforce better transparency, blockchain is becoming a disruptive force in the finance industry. This research investigated challenges in implementing blockchain solutions in the finance sector in Sri Lanka. The Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) based approach was used to investigate relationships between identified factors that influence blockchain solutions. According to the results of the study, the factors with higher driving power included lack of trust in new and immature technology, lack of regulations and governance, lack of standardization, cost of implementation, and interoperability issues with legacy systems. The results of the study emphasize the importance of regulatory bodies to develop new rules and regulations to support the technology transformation and blockchain vendors to provide better interoperability and standardization across platforms.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"66 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89024953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This makes policy makers get confused. The study is carried out with the aim of investigating the impacts of Covid-19 on both the mean and the conditional volatility of the Vietnamese stock market returns, using a simple the Generalized Autoregressive Conditionally Heteroskedastic (GARCH) model, spanning the period 01 January 2020 to 30 July 2021. The confirmed case and deaths growth rate are used as two proxies for the Covid-19 pandemic. The empirical evidence reveals that higher confirmed cases growth rate lead to a decrease in stock returns. It is also noted that stock returns volatility is affected positively and significantly by confirmed cases growth rate. This empirical evidence may prove informative for policy makers and investors.","PeriodicalId":34725,"journal":{"name":"Ho Chi Minh City Open University Journal of Science Economics and Business Administration","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81996404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
