The study used a quantitative research method to collect data. The study concentrated on 250 female business owners in the rural communities of Hluhluwe, Ulundi, and Eshowe in northern KZN. The study found that the main obstacles to expanding women-owned businesses in rural areas were financial constraints, a lack of education, and inadequate infrastructure. However, these difficulties experienced by women business owners in rural South Africa can be conquered. Overcoming these obstacles could empower women entrepreneurs and stimulate economic growth in rural areas, thus reducing poverty and enhancing the living standards of rural communities. Based on these findings, the study recommends various interventions, such as alternative financing models, targeted education and training programs, and infrastructure development, to support the growth of women-owned enterprises in rural areas. Future research should examine additional issues such as cultural and social hurdles, a lack of access to markets and information, and legal and regulatory restrictions that impede the establishment of women-owned businesses in rural areas.","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135038916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to determine the relationship between long exposure and monitor distance with eye fatigue disorders in computer users. This type of research is quantitative with an analytical survey method that uses a cross-sectional design. The population is computer operator workers, totaling 36 employees. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. They collect data using a questionnaire—analysis of the relationship between the independent and dependent variables using the chi-square test. This study proves that long exposure (5-6 hours without rest) and working at a distance from a computer monitor (<50 cm) poses a danger of eye fatigue. The study results showed that 96.7% of respondents who worked at a distance of <50 cm from the monitor experienced eye fatigue. The chi-square test analysis showed a relationship between the length of exposure and eye fatigue (? = 0.008) and a relationship between monitor distance and eye fatigue (? = 0.001). It is suggested that employees arrange the working time and monitor distance ergonomically.","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135038919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It analyzed the quality of life of waste pickers, their awareness of the risks associated with this kind of work, and the extent of their uptake of health-protective measures. A quantitative approach was adopted, and a questionnaire was used to gather data from 81 waste pickers. The findings revealed that unemployment was the main reason for taking up waste picking and that this was the respondents' primary source of income. It was also found that most respondents resided in shacks and had no access to running water. Most were unaware of the risks associated with this kind of work. Based on these findings, it is recommended that economic development be pursued to create employment opportunities and that delivery of essential services such as potable water be improved, especially in informal settlements. Awareness campaigns should be launched to educate waste pickers on handling waste, the risks associated with this kind of work, and the need to adopt protective health measures. Finally, the researcher recommends further research on waste picking in Durban as there is a paucity of information on this activity in the city.","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135126223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The South African government's lockdown measures resulted in the shutdown of non-essential industries such as travel and tourism, construction, and e-hailing services, where most Zimbabwean migrants and refugees work as frontline workers. Some individuals are employed by shady businesses that can't afford to pay them during downtime. Others ran unregistered enterprises that were denied access to business relief packages due to technicalities. Furthermore, only a small percentage of the estimated 2 million Zimbabwean immigrants and refugees are documented to meet the access requirements for the aid packages. The government's ostensibly all-encompassing COVID-19 relief package requirements were as disparate as they were on paper. Negative nationalism, which sparked xenophobic attacks in 2008, 2015, and 2019, appears to underpin the government's foreign policy framework and attitude. According to the findings, the lockdown resulted in the loss of work, abject poverty, and broken marriages among Zimbabwean immigrants. To live, many turned to prostitution, drug dealing, and rampant opportunism. \u0000 ","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49222862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Researchers believed that solutions to environmental problems lie in the integration of environmental ethics education in schools to create awareness of moral values and attitudes of humans toward the environment. However, there seem to be inadequate efforts to integrate environmental ethics education into the school curriculum. This study, therefore, argues for the examined literature to find out how school teachers integrate environmental ethics education in lessons. The study adopted the qualitative systematic literature review method, and twenty-six peer-review articles were selected from the EBSCO, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases. The twenty-six selected peer-review articles were analyzed to determine the level of integration of environmental ethics education in South African classrooms. The study revealed that the internalization of environmental ethics education as a moral foundation may make humans aware of their interaction with the environment. According to literature, awareness of improved environmental ethics education assist human to behave and act ethically towards nature thereby contributing to the reduction in environmental damage and improving environmental conservation and management. The study, therefore, suggests the organization of environmental ethical awareness in-service training programs by the Department of Basic Education for teachers which will expose them and their learners to environmental ethics, disciplined behavior, and positive attitude towards their environment.  ","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47687700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The alterations appear in the form of both opportunities and threats, based on the strengths and weaknesses of extant practices and systems operating in the Nigerian public sector. Therefore, the government is faced with the challenge of coping with new demands and some unanticipated risks in incorporating and adapting to the 4IR. Although the 4IR is considered valuable, the extent of its influence on Nigerian service delivery and how to harness its worth has not been established. This article seeks to determine the existing level of the public sector’s service delivery in relation to innovation and technological advancements. It further investigates how the 4IR can influence and harness improvement in the delivery of public services in Nigeria. A review of secondary sources from reports, government documents and extant scholarly literature was undertaken and data were analysed thematically. While the Nigerian government has made some effort to provide the public sector with innovative technology, it is essential to improve on this provision to maximise the opportunities and strengths of the 4IR. Therefore, this article recommends the intensification of technological and digitalisation capabilities by providing suitable human and financial capital, necessary to improve service delivery, particularly in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48614687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research method used is normative juridical with a statutory and conceptual approach, using secondary legal data and analyzed with a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that in electronic contracts at Shopee, the principle of consensualism has been applied. In this case, the electronic contract is carried out by means of a click-wrap agreement, namely to determine the agreement in the e-contract is when the party receiving the offer \"clicks\" on the agreement section. E-contract in Shopee can be said to be an agreement between computer users (users) in interacting with producers or electronic service providers. The application of the principle of consensuality in electronic contracts at Shopee, raises several legal implications, namely: 1) the existence of consensualism gives birth to an electronic contract; 2) the enactment of the principle of Pacta Sun Servanda, meaning that the agreed electronic contract is fully binding and therefore must be obeyed; 3) and for the transfer of rights, consensualism must be followed by a material contract (zakelijke overeenkomst), with the concrete form of this material contract being the act of delivery (levering) of the object in question from the seller's hands to the buyer's hands.\u0000Keywords: Application, Consensuality Principle, Electronic Contract, Shope","PeriodicalId":34642,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Environmental Sustainability and Social Science","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46276886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
