PBL focuses on the learning process itself by incorporating real-world issues and problems that are aligned with the school curriculum. This approach addresses various challenges that may arise during the learning process, such as lack of engagement, learning disabilities, language barriers, limited resources, and teacher-student relationships. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate perception of teachers regarding PBL and traditional method of teaching English at the junior high School level. The research design used was descriptive, and it involved data collection through interviews, as well as analysis. The data were gathered from various English teachers at different Junior High Schools in South Sumatra, with a total of 34 participants. A questionnaire was used to measure perception of teachers regarding both learning methods in teaching. The results showed a dominant preference for PBL as the selected method. Moreover, teachers also acknowledged a significant improvement in the learning outcomes of students. The contributions of PBL were twofold, 1) it promoted active learning by requiring students to take an active role during the learning process, and 2) it developed problem-solving skills by requiring the identification, analysis, and resolution of real-world problems.","PeriodicalId":34584,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal on Learning and Advanced Education IJOLAE","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48143496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to analyze performance analysis and science mapping related to the research trend in self-regulated learning over the past three decades. Therefore, it was conducted using the bibliometric analysis method on 2106 documents related to self-regulated learning published in the period 1990-2022 from the Scopus database. Those documents are limited in the final stage, English, journal source type, and article document type. The chosen subject areas were art and humanities, psychology, and social sciences which have a relation with the education field. The data analysis process was assisted by Publish or Perish and VOSviewer software to examine the publication and citation-related metric, publication, and citation trend analysis, citation analysis, co-authorship analysis, and co-word analysis. The results of this study are the trend and development of research regarding self-regulated learning over the past three decades presented that: 1) the publication-and-related metric in this study showed that there were 2,106 papers related to self-regulated learning which distributed in range 1990-2022 that has 20,752 citations and the h-index value is lower than g-index value, 2) the publication-and-citation trend analysis showed relatively fluctuative in periods and constant in particular year, 3) the citation analysis showed that the most influential document is written by B. J. Zimmerman in 2008 that has been cited around 1664 times, 4) the author who has collaborated the most with other authors is Järvelä, S., 5) the United Stated is the most productive and influential country who make studies in self-regulated learning, 6) the most productive organization is University of Oulu, Finland and the the most influential organization is the Department of Educational Psychology, Graduate Center, City University of New York, and 7) the ‘self-regulated learning’ keyword has the most occurrence amount 1766 times. These findings provide an overview of the evolution of self-regulated learning research papers during the last three decades. This study examines a period of time that was longer than previous studies. As a consequence, its resulting contribution is also larger, providing an overview of the field's evolution over the last 30 years and providing other researchers with a comprehensive resource for performing self-regulated learning research.","PeriodicalId":34584,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal on Learning and Advanced Education IJOLAE","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42223204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study involved 238 teachers who are teaching the Islamic Revealed Knowledge (IRK) subject in all the government secondary schools in Brunei Darussalam. Instruments used for data collection, namely the Mas-lach Burnout Inventory and the Job Descriptive Index (JDI). In this study, results showed that the level of burnout of the IRK teachers is at a moderate level which gives an indication that most of them were able to control their emotions although their career as teachers is very challenging and tiring. Another factor that could contribute to this phenomenon is that the level of job satisfaction among the teachers is high, especi-ally in the aspect of promotion and colleagues. Hence, colleagues at the workplace could affect the teachers’ burnout level because they see their colleagues as supportive and continuously give them strong moral sup-port. Not only is human-to-human support needed to positively handle the burnout level, but it also needs institunionalized programs to improve the general climate and relatiop with the colleagues.","PeriodicalId":34584,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal on Learning and Advanced Education IJOLAE","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43151238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aimed to compare Indonesian and Philippine teachers' reflection practice on English teaching. The research was focused on 1) the questions teachers of both countries ask as the reflection in their Teaching, 2) their perceptions about their reflection of their teaching practice, and 3) their follow-up on the reflection. The participants in this study were 16 English teachers in the Philippines and 30 teachers in Indonesia. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations and analyzed through inductive analysis techniques. The study revealed a slight difference in the focus of the reflective questions asked by the Philippine and Indonesian teachers. Indonesian teachers focus more on the students’ learning, while Philippine teachers do self-reflection. However, both countries' teachers thought reflection was important for their professional development. The structured reflection practice will likely help teachers of both countries plan their professional development and innovation in teaching practice.","PeriodicalId":34584,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal on Learning and Advanced Education IJOLAE","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43698024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
