In this paper we present a software tool which emulates a steam turbine-based current generator with distributed control, where communication between the different devices (sensors and actuators) can be supported by different types of fieldbuses. Students can set several different system configurations and simulate their behavior. The tool produces graphs which allow students to monitor and evaluate the behavior of the system and the performance offered by the control system","PeriodicalId":345289,"journal":{"name":"2006 1ST IEEE International Conference on E-Learning in Industrial Electronics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114150773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The considered sector is the energy intensive sector and the economic indicators used in this paper are price, value added, number of customers, price of the substitute fuel and electricity intensity. The chosen models are linear-logarithmic, exponential and quadratic ones. This model can be used to estimate energy demand in the future by optimizing parameter values. The GA applied in this study has been tuned for all its parameters and the best coefficients with minimum error are identified, while all parameter values are tested concurrently. The estimation errors of genetic algorithm models are less than that of estimated by regression method. Neural network is used to forecast each independent variable and then electricity consumption is forecasted up to year 2008 in this sector. It is pointed that neural networks dominate time series approach form the point of yielding less Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) error. In addition, another unique feature of this study is utilization of ANN instead of time series to obtain better predictions for energy consumption. Electricity consumption in Iranian energy intensive sector from 1981 to 2005 is considered as the case of this study","PeriodicalId":345289,"journal":{"name":"2006 1ST IEEE International Conference on E-Learning in Industrial Electronics","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117295760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By analyzing a large amount of learning history data accumulated over a long period of time, the presented solution enables the coming request to be predicted in advance, and preprocessed beforehand. It takes advantage of the integration of data mining technology and parallel computing, which maximizes the server's ability of parallelization from the knowledge acquired from the experiential data. Everyone uses the Internet for information retrieval and communication. It is part and parcel of everyday life and culture. This is also true for all levels of preschool and academic education as well as on-the-job training. Currently, providing learning objects on an electronic and personalized base is widely favored and - in the meantime-common practice. We present LoGen, a browser-based tool for the generation and simulation of digital, logic circuits on the gate-level via Internet. This tool is used as additional learning module for lectures and exercises at the Institute of Applied Microelectronics and Computer Engineering, University of Rostock. The feasibility of standard HTML for suchlike applications is pointed out. For the design of the tool, solely approved and well-established Internet-technologies have been used. It is especially feasible for so-called thin clients. Optimal control is a powerful algorithm considers the limitations in state variables and system actuators. The main limitation of optimal control in a practical view is its complete dependence on sense or estimation of state variables. In the worst case sampling frequency of the measurable state variables is near the frequency at which folding phenomenon happens. In this case a digital deadbeat response prediction observer offers the fastest way to estimate the unmeasured state variables in a digital control system. The conclusions will show that the proposed algorithm is an effective solution.
