The measurement of the axle strain needs rotating sensors, data acquisition and data transmission units that have to be electrically powered. This paper presents a high frequency induction power feeding system that can be directly mounted on the train axle in a very stable and safety way. Analytical and numerical methods are used in literature to study the propagation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPP) but the optimal thicknesses in a multilayer structure can't be established for an optimal propagation by these. In this paper a new method based on cascade Neural Network (NN) is used to predict the propagation characteristics of a multilayer plasmonic structure and coupling FEM analysis of the involved electromagnetic field. Differently from others available monitoring systems the new approach is based on a sensor network which collects detailed information about the electrical performances of each string forming a photovoltaic plant. A devised electronic board has been specifically developed and prototyped which embeds innovative functionalities. Among them the supercapacitor based harvesting stage for self powering of the sensor network and the wireless communication which prevent additional wiring. The idea to interleave the converters, shifting their switching frequency, can be a solution to mitigate the power quality problems introduced by the high current ripples. This paper presents the robustness of the interleaving control parameter variations respect to the THD of the absorbed current even if the control parameters are not well tuned. When distributed generation renewable energy sources are coupled to the grid through a DC-AC inverter, the injected currents to the grid should be characterized by high quality and low distortion. Many factors play an important role to produce high quality output beginning with the order of the passive filter used, type of controller used and last but not least the presence of distortions in the grid. This paper demonstrates the evaluation of performance, in normal and abnormal grid conditions, between single and dual loop control for the three phase inverter tied to the grid through a LCL passive filter and controlled with discrete proportional resonant (PR) controller, taking into account how filter parameters, control gains and sampling frequency would affect the dynamics of the system as well as its stability in order to perform adequate tuning. The battery modules connected with 2-quadrant 4-phase parallel converter with interleaved technique. In this paper, a nonlinear control algorithm based on the flatness properties of the system is proposed. Using the flatness property, we propose simple solutions to dc distributed system and stabilization problems. A hardware system is implemented in laboratory. The prototype small-scale power plant is composed of a dc main source (80 V, 500 W), and a Li-ion battery module (11.6 Ah, 24 V). Wind turbine generators based on Wound Rotor Induction Machine (WRIM) is actually the preferred technology considering the above purposes. With the association of a back-to back converter on the rotor side a Stator-Flux-Oriented-Control (SFOC) system can be used to obtain e decoupled control of the active and reactive power on the stator side. This kind of control system is widely used for its efficiency and because of the lower rating of the power converter connected to the rotor side. Recently, by using the converter modulating voltages, efficient techniques have been developed for steady-state and transient operating conditions. The overall CPV system reliability is based on the quality of the subcomponents such as the optics, the cells, the electronics and the assembly of the whole system, but there is a dramatic lack of technical specifications for new prototypes to comply with. The Italian project SCOOP (SOLAR CONCENTRATION TECHNOLOGIES FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS) was aimed at developing an Italian network of laboratories and industrial facilities to enter the CPV market. The project, funded by the Ministry of Industry, started in 2009 and ended at the end of 2013. SCOOP addressed the development of solar cells, optical systems and inverters, to be used in four different CPV prototypes. The development of a network of laboratories specialized to test, verify and check components such as plastic materials, optics, cells, electronics and module/assembly at prototype and industrial scale has been one of the main targets of the project. By means of a multilevel converter, low amplitude harmonic currents due to the interaction between primary converters operating in different conditions and connected to the same DC bus, are compensated. This strategy is suitable for the applications requiring a common DC bus such as Distributed Generations (DG) networks and it is able to avoid problems to devices connected due to low frequency harmonic currents. The compensator is modular and it is composed by cells series connected. It is controlled to minimize modulation current ripple. Thanks to the multilevel topology, the converter is able to operate in high voltage applications and permits to minimize the size of the switches.
