It is caused by a great number of different factors, the main part of which take the operating conditions. In order to determine the power consumption of a vehicle in real operating conditions, it is necessary to solve a difficult problem with many unknowns. While making the investigations, the authors have used a multi-criteria approach that takes into consideration the guided, unguided and conditionally guided factors that influence the vehicles power consumption. The in research work approach provides a modeling of a power consumption by the vehicles with a simultaneous changeability of factors in the determined limits. The researches were made on a base of Т70110 trolleybus. There was made an investigation of influence of every factor on a power consumption, in addition to that there were made 7000 simulations, on the base of which, using a law of large numbers, there were found the corresponding changeability ranges. During the researches there were made 122 simulations of a power consumption, as a result of which there was determined an area of values of a power consumption.

The obtained theoretical results are very well correlated with the experimental data, and a deviation is equal to 3…6 % for normal operating conditions. In the context of optimizing last-mile logistics in Dublin, Ireland, this research strives to identify the ideal locations for parcel lockers. It does so by pioneering the application of a unique decision-making model. To navigate the inherent uncertainties in decision-makers' preferences, the study harnesses the power of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in Spherical Fuzzy environment with the Euclidean Distance-Based Aggregation Method (EDBAM) for the selection of parcel locker locations. The harmonious integration of these methodologies serves to mitigate the deterministic shortcomings typically associated with the AHP approach, presenting an innovative and robust solution for enhancing last-mile delivery efficiency. RAP application continues to be faced with some challenges and barriers that are yet to be overcome to enable its widespread use mainly for rates up to 100 %. With the increment of RAP mixtures use, the multi-recycling capacity will be a near future problem. This paper assessed the multi-recycling capacity of RAP in high incorporation rate (75 %) mixture for wearing courses, before and after ageing, using two recycling cycles. Both the short- and long-term performances of RAP mixtures were evaluated by mechanical and functional tests. In general, the second recycled RAP mixture showed similar or higher performance than the virgin asphalt mixture. It showed a 23 % lower stiffness modulus, a 37 % higher fatigue resistance and 62 % lower permanent deformation than virgin asphalt mixture. Moreover, it presented non-sensitivity to water damage and good functional performance. The RAP multi-recycling capacity was validated. However, traffic loads, weather conditions, and other factors can lead to damage of road pavements, especially of the surface layer over time. One important factor affecting the response of surface layers under traffic loading is the bonding condition between asphalt layers. In this paper, the aim is to analyze the strains at the base of surface layers in asphalt pavement structures with two different bonding conditions: one with a tack coat and one without tack coat. To achieve this, experimental measurements on full-scale pavement tests and numerical calculations in viscoelasticity are carried out. Calculations are performed using three interface models: bonded interface, sliding interface and thin elastic interface. The findings show that structures with a tack coat exhibit significant sliding at the interface. Moreover, the use of a bonded interface in design methods cannot predict correctly the measurements. In addition, the study shows that taking into account temperature gradients in the pavement structure improves significantly measurement prediction, especially at high temperatures.

","PeriodicalId":34480,"journal":{"name":"Transportation Engineering","volume":"14 ","pages":"Article 100211"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666691X23000519/pdfft?md5=e7327aa9eddb17bcfaa7bc4a9cd3d03f&pid=1-s2.0-S2666691X23000519-main.pdf","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"92045626","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of this research is to study drivers’ risk perception to mitigate these risks. A questionnaire was used to study drivers’ risk perception on typical highway work zone attributes (e.g., geometric changes, temporary traffic countermeasures, excessive speed). The results were compared with crash modification factors. A factor analysis was conducted to find the underlying latent variables behind these risk perceptions. Moreover, the connection between drivers’ personal characteristics and their risk perception was studied using linear regression. Lastly, to study the association between drivers’ risk perception and their driving speed, the questionnaire results were incorporated into a controlled experiment in a driving simulator that studied highway work zones effect on speed. A linear mixed-effects model was used to capture this association. The results reveal the most dangerous highway work zone attributes and the best mitigation ones perceived by drivers. Participants that drove more frequently through work zones drove at a higher speed in the driving simulator and the higher the perceived risk by the drivers the lower their speed. Male drivers have a lower perceived risk. These results can aid decision-makers in choosing safer highway work zone layout operations considering drivers’ risk perception. In this study, we develop a detailed vehicle simulation model and use it to calculate the battery capacity requirements of real UK logistics journeys against a range of ERS network sizes and on-route static charging options. The results show that, averaged over all static charging scenarios, ERS reduces battery sizes by 41 %, 62 %, and 75 % for the ‘Light’ (2,750 km), ‘Medium’ (5,500 km) and ‘Heavy’ (8,500 km) ERS scenarios. This paper presents a comprehensive buckling analysis of railway tracks using Eigenvalue-based simplified approach in the finite element method, while considering the influence of passing trains. The study focuses on evaluating the buckling behaviour of the track, taking into account dynamic response and the interaction between the train and track. The finite element model encompasses the track structure, including rails, sleepers, ballast, and fasteners, and incorporates material properties, geometrical constraints, and boundary conditions. Through eigenvalue analysis, critical buckling modes and corresponding buckling loads are determined, providing insights into the track's stability under different loading scenarios. Furthermore, a parametric study is conducted to investigate the effects of various factors such as unconstrained length, lateral resistance and rail sections on the buckling behaviour. This study enhances the understanding of buckling phenomena in railway tracks and offers valuable information for track design, maintenance, and safety considerations. As a result, road traffic problems such as congestion on urban roads, dangerous traffic violations, and road accidents have increased significantly. Due to limited road infrastructure, traffic violations (human errors) have intensified in densely populated urban areas. This paper presents a case study (at a multi-lane urban roundabout in Ahmedabad city, India) and the methodology based on computer vision to investigate road traffic and violations using drone/UAV-based aerial video. You Only Look Once-YOLOv7 is used for vehicle detection, and Simple Online and Real Time Tracking-SORT for tracking vehicles. Our methodology divides the road scene (roundabout) into certain zones. We then formulated the dictionary, which maps the traffic violations under Motor Vehicle Driving Regulations - MVDR/ Motor Vehicle Act - MVA and the movement of the vehicle (zone traversal sequences). Using the zone-based methodology, we could also probe other road traffic data such as the count of vehicles, speed of vehicles, rate of traffic flow, and congestion. Based on our results, we also infer some of the possible causes of traffic violations in terms of problems/limitations of road infrastructure. As per our analysis, around 23.26% of vehicles committed traffic violations. We detected traffic violations related to lane indiscipline, driving against the authorized flow of traffic, parking violations, and over-speeding within the roundabout. Our methodology of investigating road traffic and violations can be used for road infrastructure improvement, law enforcement drives, and policy making, for road traffic safety, in developing and densely populated countries.

","PeriodicalId":34480,"journal":{"name":"Transportation Engineering","volume":"14 ","pages":"Article 100207"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49714107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
