In order to obtain the maximum fuel economy potential, backward simulators are developed based on dynamic programming by considering the transmission efficiency, power electronics system and hydraulic system loss. From the simulation results, it is found that as the number of gear step increases, the engine operation is performed more closely on the optimal operating line for the minimum fuel consumption. Accordingly, the amount of motor load leveling power decreases and the power electronics system loss is reduced. On the other hand, the hydraulic system loss becomes larger with the increased number of gear step due to the additional elements, which cause lubrication and sealing losses. For CVT HEV, even if the engine thermal efficiency is improved and PE loss can be reduced by CVT function, the fuel economy is rather reduced because of the high hydraulic system loss required to maintain the 3∼4 times higher line pressure than AT.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121158169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A highly dynamic positioning process without undesirable position overshoots is focused. Typically, a dynamic headlamp levelling device uses a stepper motor combined with a plastic spindle. However, some automotive applications require a higher dynamic behaviour or a smaller granularity for adjusting the headlamp range. In rough terrain the driver of a vehicle needs a focused cone of light combined with the required fade down process, especially for xenon or LED headlamps. The presented concept uses a linear actuator combined with a model predictive control approach and a state of the art digital signal processor (DSP) for the dynamic headlamp levelling device.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122985515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the one hand these losses could form a proportion of the total loss which can be significant and on the other hand the losses could lead to thermal problems in the magnets. This paper proposes a hybrid eddy current loss calculation method for the determination of the magnet loss which is computationally efficient and relatively easy to use. It combines a transient and two dimensional finite element analysis (FEA) to obtain the time variable distribution of the induction field in the magnets and an analytic eddy current loss calculation approach to determine the resulting eddy current losses. The results are validated by transient 3D FEA computations and, furthermore, by experimental measurements. The loss measurements can be performed by just measuring the electric parameters of the electric drive when operating the machine in a defined operating point.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130843382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This methodology takes into account the determination of a Winding Distribution Table (WDT), in which all the information about the distribution of the currents along the stator periphery is computed and from which the Görges polygon are easily derived. The proposed method can be applied to both symmetrical and asymmetrical multi-phase windings, including concentrated, fractional, reduced and dead-coil ones. The examples provided in this paper demonstrate the versatility of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122872328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of hybrid power sources as storage devices is an attractive solution, aiming at maximizing both energy and power density. The battery/ultracapacitors (UCs) combination promises to provide significant benefits. An accurate design of bi-directional converters, capable of proplery managing the charge/discharge of the UCs from/to a voltage bus, is essential. In this paper, a bi-directional DC-DC converter connected to a bank of UCs is described and the simulation results are given as well. The designed converter is a buck-boost type, able to manage a 40kW peak power for a duration of 3s, required by a 48 V bus-connected load.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121139937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To meet this demand the hardware components and motor drives are used in non-linear and special operating points leading to increased requirements for the control method. This paper presents a new direct current control method that is able to work at these operating points. It is robust, able to deal with non-linear loads and that overcomes some disadvantages of existing direct current control methods. The generic approach would even allow to use inverter systems with more than two levels.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"190 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133316123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are characterized by a tapered air gap that enables to overcome their starting limitation. The study is initiated by a 2D finite element analysis (FEA)-based investigation of the electromagnetic features of a single phase line-start PMSM. Then, the FEA is extended to a geometrical sizing of the machine. The FEA is achieved by the investigation of the effect of the variation of the relative position of a two notches in the rotor poles, with emphasis on the increase of the cogging torque mean value. This approach makes it possible the enhancement of the machine starting capability.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124277518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In conventional direct drive traction systems, every motor needs its own inverter, which has to be dimensioned to at least the motor's full power. Because of the natural operating characteristics of the BDFM, in the new proposed system the motors can be supplied mainly from a large, shared inverter, whereas the wheel's speed differences and torque regulation can be controlled from small, auxiliary inverters for each motor. On the one hand, this can lead to cost savings on system level, and on the other hand the BDFM offers advantages like simple materials and production as well as increased functional safety because of the lack of magnets and brushes. As the power density of the BDFM is smaller in comparison to conventional machines, this concept may be mainly interesting for heavy-duty vehicles, where the motor's weight is less important.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126477372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The principle of operation of the BLDC motor fed by the B12-inverter is firstly presented with emphasis on the two-phase conduction mode and the three-phase conduction one. The DTC strategy is treated considering three different schemes, namely: (i) DTCi strategy inspired from the one developed by Takahashi in induction motor drives, (ii) DTC2 strategy that considers a vector selection table simply-reduced to the torque control with a two-phase conduction mode during sectors operation, and (iii) DTC3 strategy that eliminates the torque dips penalizing DTC2 during sector-to-sector commutations by considering the three-phase conduction mode. Simulation results, carried out considering low and high reference motor speeds, proves the high performance exhibited by the proposed DTC3 strategy.","PeriodicalId":344175,"journal":{"name":"2018 Thirteenth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125372109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
