It is accomplished through the use of an exegetical reception approach of their understanding of the <em>A</em><em>̄</em><em>yāt</em> <em>at-Taḥkīm</em> (Qur’an chapter <em>al-Mā’idah</em> [5]:44-47). Data was gathered by combining survey technique development with in-depth interviews. The collected data was analyzed using a philosophical and phenomenological hermeneutic approach to assess the academic community’s understanding of <em>A</em><em>̄</em><em>yāt</em> <em>at-Taḥkīm</em>. According to the survey results,<em> A</em><em>̄</em><em>yāt</em> <em>at-Taḥkīm</em> is very popular among academics higher education institutes in Southeast Sulawesi. Most of the academic community’s information comes from religious studies on social media. They acknowledge and accept these verses as the foundation for the legitimacy of <em>kāffah</em> enforcement of Islamic law as the foundation for Indonesia’s political system. Meanwhile, the interviews show that most informants label those who disagree with the discourse with theological labels (<em>kāfir</em> and <em>thāgūt</em>). As a result, even though these characteristics have not reached an extreme level, their comprehension is included in the revivalism ideology’s characteristics.</p><p class=\"abstrak\"><em>Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menakar eksistensi karakteristik ideologi revivalisme di kalangan sivitas akademika, khususnya di perguruan tinggi yang berada di wilayah provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara, Indonesia. Ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan pendekatan resepsi eksegesis atas pemahaman mereka terhadap </em><em>A</em><em>̄</em><em>yāt</em> <em>at-Taḥkīm</em> (<em>Q. al-M</em><em>ā</em><em>’idah [5]:44-47). Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui elaborasi antara teknik survey dan wawancara mendalam secara bersamaan. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis mengggunakan pendekatan hermeneutika filosofis dan fenomenologis guna menakar pemahaman sivitas akademika terhadap </em><em>A</em><em>̄</em><em>yāt</em> <em>at-Taḥkīm</em><em>. Hasil survey membuktikan bahwa </em><em>A</em><em>̄</em><em>yāt</em> <em>at-Tah</em><em>̣</em><em>kīm</em><em> cukup populer bagi kalangan sivitas akademika di Sulawesi Tenggara. Informasi tentangnya mayoritas diakses oleh sivitas akademika dari kajian-kajian keagamaan di media sosial. This study uses a survey design involving 230 students selected through random sampling consisting of 65 senior high school students, 100 vocational high school students, and 65 Islamic senior high school students. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings showed the radicalism potential of 20% in secondary school students, of 30.5% in vocational school students, and of 19.8% in Islamic secondary school students. Around 23.4% of the students were identified to have radicalism potential such as having fundamentalist behavior. The percentage obtained in this study is hoped to encourage the teaching of religious tolerance, universal morality, and formal education. Another implication for the people who are related to the education of youth is that they should pay more attention more to difficult social issues, especially those that are relevant to the use of social media.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi potensi radikalisme pada siswa SMA/MA di Provinsi Riau. Designm penelitian ini menggunakan survey melibatkan 230 siswa yang diambil secara random sampling yang terdiri dari 65 siswa SMA, 100 siswa SMK, dan 65 SMA Islam. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan potensi radikalisme pada siswa SMA 20%, siswa SMK 30,5%, dan siswa MAN Islam 19,8%. Sekitar 23,4% siswa diidentifikasi memiliki potensi radikalisme seperti berperilaku fundamentalis. Persentase yang didapat dalam penelitian ini kurang sehingga diharapkan dapat dilaksanakan pengajaran tentang pentingnya toleransi beragama, akhlak, dan pendidikan formal. {"title":"Islamophobia, Indian Media, and Covid-19 Pandemic: A Critical Discourse Analysis","authors":"A. Baharuddin, A. Z. Baharuddin","doi":"10.30983/islam_realitas.v8i1.5352","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30983/islam_realitas.v8i1.5352","url":null,"abstract":"This research is designed to demonstrate (1) how the Indian media attempts to construct the Islamophobia issue during the Covid-19 pandemic (particularly in the earlier March-April, 2020) and (2) how the Indian news media use social media, such as Instagram and Twitter, to claim that Muslims were the disseminators of the virus to the majority of Indian population. In collecting and analyzing data, the researchers use the descriptive qualitative methodology as the scientific research procedure. There are three collected data classified in this research i.e., the primary data, the secondary data, and the supporting data. Furthermore, in analyzing the data, the researchers appled the critical discourse analysis (CDA) as the linguistics theory to study the Islamophobia discourse on the news media. Finally, the research result shows that (1) most of the Indian mainstream media not only spread Islamophobia but also justify and hegemonize Muslims as Corona virus disseminators , and (2) these news media eventually influenced hate speech memes and racial statements posted by Indian netizens/Buzzers on social media that accuse Muslim minority as the disseminator of the Corona virus. Penelitian ini dirancang untuk menunjukkan (1) bagaimana upaya media India dalam mengkonstruksi wacana Islamofobia kepada warga sipil selama pandemi Covid 19 (khususnya pada awal Maret-April 2020) dan (2) bagaimana berita media India memiliki berimplikasi pada penggunaan media sosial seperti Instagram dan Twitter, yang mengklaim minoritas Muslim sebagai penyebar virus Corona terhadap mayoritas penduduk India. Untuk mengumpulkan dan menganalisis data penelitian, peneliti menggunakan metodologi deskriptif kualitatif sebagai prosedur penelitian ilmiah. Data yang terkumpul diklasifikasikan menjadi tiga data yaitu data primer, data sekunder, dan data pendukung. Selanjutnya, dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menerapkan analisis wacana kritis (CDA) sebagai teori linguistik untuk memahami dan mempelajari wacana Islamofobia berdasarkan berita media. {"title":"Pro-Muslim Policies in Cambodia: Bureaucratizing Halal And Hijab in Muslim Minority Country","authors":"Khaidir Hasram","doi":"10.30983/islam_realitas.v8i1.5520","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30983/islam_realitas.v8i1.5520","url":null,"abstract":"This paper explores the dynamics of Pro-Muslim policies in the Kingdom of Cambodia, specifically related to halal institutionalization and the legalization of the hijab. Both are basic needs (dharuriyat) in Islamic Law, although the second is debatable. According to most early-period scholars (ulama klasik), these two policies could only be fulfilled in an Islamic state. Instead, the Cambodian Royal Government issued two policies in favour of Muslims practicing both needs. This research is qualitative research that uses an anthropological approach. Researchers collected data through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation on policy documents, news, and articles that can be trusted. Interviews took place non-formally, face-to-face, and online via the internet. This paper argues that the pro-Muslim policies issued provide halal assurance for the consumption of the Muslims in the country (2% of the total population) and potentially improve the their socio-economy in the food and beverage industry and tourism. The legalization of the hijab guarantees that Muslim women can engage in public spaces freely without worrying about discrimination because of their identity and what they wear. Tulisan ini mengeksplorasi dinamika kebijakan Pro-Muslim di Negara Kerajaan Kamboja, secara spesifik terkait dengan kebijakan pelembagaan halal dan legalisasi hijab. Keduanya merupakan kebutuhan dasar (dharuriyat) dalam Hukum Islam, meskipun yang kedua masih diperdebatkan. Menurut mayoritas ulama periode awal, dua kebijakan ini hanya bisa terpenuhi di negara Islam. Sebaliknya, Pemerintah Kerajaan Kamboja,yang secara resmi menganut Buddhisme sebagai agama resmi negara, mengeluarkan dua kebijakan yang mendukung Muslim dengan mudah mengamalkan kedua kebutuhan tersebut. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan pendekatan antropologis. The study of <em>Insan Kamil</em> raises human awareness about the essence of his identity as a servant of God, is crucial. It is even more so at a time when secular values and worldviews eliminate religion and God by making utilitarianism, pragmatism, materialism, and hedonism the moral foundation of humanity. Therefore, serious efforts are needed to resolve this moral quandary. The concept of <em>Insan Kamil</em> of Abdurrauf al-Sinkili, a vibrant Indonesian intellectual well-known in several scholarly fields, discusses the meaning, purpose, and nature of human life and can be employed as an antidote to the present crisis. This library research drew on a wide range of authoritative sources utilizing documentary techniques to collect the data and employing content analysis methods to address the issues. This paper concludes that the concept of al-Sinkili's Insan Kamil can be an antidote to today's moral dilemma, particularly regarding human attitudes that adhere to utilitarianism, materialism, pragmatism, and hedonism way of life. This finding demonstrates that the <em>Insan Kamil</em> concept is a viable answer to the current moral predicament.</p><p class=\"abstrak\"><em>Peneleitian </em><em>ini bertujuan memaparkan konsep Insan Kamil Abdurrauf al-Sinkili dalam kaitannya dengan </em><em>problematika </em><em>moral kontemporer. Kajian </em><em>tentang </em><em>Insan Kamil yang </em><em>membangun </em><em>kesadaran manusia tentang hakikat jati dirinya sebagai hamba Tuhan menjadi sangat penting. </em><em>Terlebih lagi jika hal ini dikaitkan dengan hegemoni </em><em>nilai-nilai dan </em><em>worldview sekular yang mengeliminasi </em><em>agama dan Tuhan </em><em>karena </em><em>utilitarianisme, pragmatisme, materialisme, dan hedonisme </em><em>dijadikan </em><em>sebagai landasan moral kemanusiaan. The communicative action theory by Habermas is used as approach to respond to this challenge. Descriptive quantitative analyses were used to expose religious discourse about Islam amongst young Muslims in Aceh. The results show that WhatsApp has proven to be the most popular among social media platforms. WhatsApp has functioned as a new public sphere for Muslim society in Aceh and has evolved into an essential part of mediated Islamic discourse in the digital era. In this regard, WhatsApp has created a universal public sphere, available to Muslim society as dialogic communication in Aceh. This research concludes that the Muslims in Aceh are not merely users of WhatsApp. They can also be digital preachers who can build individual narratives as a part of the religious struggle to increase their piety.Kajian ini dilakukan untuk memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang bagaimana transformasi platform media sosial sebagai alternatif ruang publik digital pada masyarakat Muslim di Aceh. {"title":"The Criticism of the Political Model of Humanity’s Twitter NU Garis Lucu Against Intolerant Groups and Government","authors":"I. Ghozali","doi":"10.30983/islam_realitas.v8i1.5250","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30983/islam_realitas.v8i1.5250","url":null,"abstract":"This article examines the criticism of the political model of humanity, namely a critique of the political activities carried out by Twitter NU Garis Lucu against intolerant groups and the government that ignores human values. This twitter displays a style of criticizing and introducing new models of political values on social media, namely through witty sentences and humor across religions, ethnicities, and cultures. This model of politics becomes very important at a time when social sedia is filled with negative and provocative comments and narratives that endanger human values. As a result of this narrative, people are trapped in a rigid understanding, cannot accept differences, and easily judge other Muslims to be wrong when the latter’s opinions do not align with ones own. This attitude in turn leads to an understanding of identity politics based on religion, one that rejects the teaching and symbols of the state, which are in turn considered contrary to the teachings of the shari’a. This research is a descriptive and a qualitative analysis of the many reactions against the NU Garis Lucu twitter handle. The first part relates to the Twitter critique of NU Garis Lucu towards intolerant groups[NP1] . The second relates to the critique that the NU Garis Lucu received with regards to its stance against government and politicians. The results of the study show that the humanitarian politics developed by Twitter NU Garis Lucu by criticizing textual Islamic groups that have the potential to divide the harmony of Islamic society and the birth path of radicalism groups that aspire to uphold Islamic law kaffah. His criticism are manifested in dialogical, witty sentences, with an approach to Islamic teachings that are friendly, tolerant, and accept diversity in religious understanding. He also criticized government policies that were detrimental to the community and politicians who often raised identity politics and ignored its substance in fighting for the interests of the community.Artikel ini mengkaji kritik model politik kemanusiaan yaitu suatu kritik terhadap kegiatan politik yang dilakukan oleh Twitter NU Garis Lucu terhadap kelompok-kelompok anti-toleransi dan pemerintah yang mengabaikan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan. Twitter ini menampilkan gaya cara mengkritik dan memperkenalkan nilai-nilai politik model baru di Media Sosial, yaitu melalui kalimat-kalimat jenaka dan humor lintas agama, suku, etnis dan budaya. Politik model seperti ini menjadi sangat penting pada saat media sosial dipenuhi komentar dan narasi-narasi negatif dan provokatif yang membahayakan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan. {"title":"Construction of the Wali Pitu’s Sacredness and Islamic Veneration in Balinese Hindu Civilization","authors":"A. Tohari","doi":"10.30983/islam_realitas.v7i2.4722","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30983/islam_realitas.v7i2.4722","url":null,"abstract":"This article explains the Wali Pitu (the seven saints) as a new form of veneration dynamics in Indonesia, which was built by the sacredness of Bali as the heart of Hindu culture in Indonesia. This phenomenon is unique and interesting, because the seven tombs of Muslim saints are venerated by Hindus of the region. This study uses a qualitative approach with the case-study method, extracting data as documentation from the notes of Toyyib Zaen Arifin during the expedition to search the seven graves, and interviews with members of the Manaqib al-Jamali, guidance, organizers and religious tourism congregations, as well as several caretakers of the tombs. This article describes the sacred construction of the discovery of the seven sainthoods tombs and their cults and their dynamics as a new form of the veneration of saints in Indonesia, one that differs from the other forms of veneration in Java which has been deeply rooted for a long time, such as the Wali Songo (the nine saints). Artikel ini berupaya menjelaskan Wali Pitu (tujuh wali) sebagai bentuk baru dinamika venerasi di Indonesia yang dibangun oleh sakralitas Bali sebagai jantung peradaban Hindu. Fenomena ini sangat unik dan menarik dimana kedua korpus yang diteliti sangat kontradiktif namun menjadi sebuah realitas nyata, dimana tujuh makam wali Muslim ditemukan di Bali sebagai jantung peradaban Hindu. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus, penggalian data berupa dokumentasi dari hasil catatan Toyyib Zaen Arifin selama ekspedisi pencarian tujuh makam wali, dan wawancara kepada anggota manaqib al-Jamali, pembimbing, penyelenggara dan jama’ah wisata religi, serta beberapa juru kunci makam Wali Pitu. Islamic Religious Counselors are civil servant preachers who carry the mandate from the government to campaign for the Covid-19 health protocols through the da’wah (Islamic communication/propagation) approach. Da’wah and health materials are two different materials that pose challenges for Islamic Religious Counselors, especially in the communication patterns used. The research method used qualitative approach and multi-track communication theory by Thomas Tufte and Paolo Mefalopulos. Data were collected through structured interviews with six informants of Islamic Religious Counselor in Kalasan District and non-participant observations on each of their da’wah activities. The results showed that the preaching activities include recitation, socialization, social service and building relationships carried out with a multi-track communication strategy through a combination of a dialogic and one-step flow communication. Da’wah through a multi-track communication strategy has an impact on the affective side of religious congregations including attitudes, knowledge and awareness. Actualization of Islamic Religious Counselor is a viable alternative approach of the government and community in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.Penyuluh Agama Islam adalah pendakwah aparatur sipil negara yang mengemban amanah dari pemerintah untuk dapat mengampanyekan protokol kesehatan Covid-19 melalui pendekatan dakwah. Materi dakwah dan kesehatan merupakan dua materi berbeda yang menimbulkan tantangan bagi Penyuluh Agama Islam khususnya dalam pola komunikasi yang digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengelaborasi strategi komunikasi Penyuluh Agama Islam karena strategi komunikasi merupakan aspek penting dalam proses transfer pesan kepada khalayak secara efektif. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan teori komunikasi multi-track dari Thomas Tufte dan Paolo Mefalopulos. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terstruktur dengan informan berjumlah 6 orang Penyuluh Agama Islam di Kecamatan Kalasan dan observasi non-partisipan pada setiap kegiatan dakwah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas dakwah Penyuluh Agama Islam meliputi pengajian, sosialisasi, bakti sosial dan membangun relasi dilakukan dengan strategi komunikasi multi-track melalui kombinasi pendekatan komunikasi dialogis dan pendekatan satu arah. Dakwah melalui strategi komunikasi multi-track berdampak pada sisi afektif jama’ah meliputi sikap, pengetahuan dan kesadaran. The rampant use of the TikTok platform during the COVID-19 pandemic was not only deployed as an entertainment medium but was also used by many people to be able to spread propaganda and missions to disseminate religious values among the millennial generation. This is due to the popularity of that platform has skyrocketed, making some content creators and public figures develop the marketing of their ideological values on social media. By using the theory of social change and the concept of the development of communication, the authors try to analyze the phenomena that in question. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with the TikTok application observation technique and seeks to explore various information in depth to find various facts that can explain this phenomenon. We also found that millennials who use the TikTok platform often start to look at various religious content and some are even active in filling the content because they are inspired by public figures who spread similar content. Moreover, some lecturers often provide religious information using music or duet features so as to encourage application users to spread religious teachings and share religious knowledge.Penelitian ini berfokus pada strategi tokoh masyarakat yang mengembangkan konten religi dalam rangka menyebarkan nilai-nilai agama di kalangan generasi milenial, terutama di masa pandemi. Maraknya penggunaan platform TikTok di masa pandemi COVID-19 tidak hanya dijadikan sebagai media hiburan tetapi juga dimanfaatkan oleh banyak orang untuk bisa menyebarkan dakwah dan misi penyebarluasan nilai-nilai agama di kalangan generasi milenial. Hal ini dikarenakan popularitas platform tersebut yang meroket, membuat beberapa content creator dan public figure mengembangkan pemasaran nilai-nilai ideologisnya di media sosial. Dengan menggunakan teori perubahan sosial dan konsep perkembangan komunikasi, peneliti mencoba menganalisis fenomena yang terjadi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik observasi aplikasi TikTok dan berupaya menggali berbagai informasi secara mendalam sehingga mampu menemukan berbagai fakta yang dapat menjelaskan fenomena tersebut. Kami juga menemukan bahwa generasi milenial yang menggunakan platform TikTok sering mulai melihat berbagai konten religi dan bahkan ada yang aktif mengisi konten tersebut karena terinspirasi oleh tokoh masyarakat yang menyebarkan konten serupa.
