This study mainly aims to investigate the ability of working capital management to increase sustainable growth through asset utilization. We ran panel data regression on manufacturing firms listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange for the years of 2010-2017 as our sample. By controlling for leverage, sales growth, and firm size, our empirical results demonstrate that working capital management negatively affects firms' asset utilization. Furthermore, the study also finds that asset utilization positively affects sustainable growth. Finally, we empirically show that asset utilization mediates the relationship between working capital management and sustainable growth. The findings imply that if Indonesian manufacturing firms manage to have efficient working capital management, they are more likely to utilize their assets efficiently which, in turn, will increase their growth optimally, without causing problems to their cash.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128868580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Findings suggest that urbanization, GDP, energy use, and carbon emissions are strongly and positively correlated, while trade and carbon emissions exhibit a weak and negative correlation. The ARDL result shows a negatively significant short-term and long-term connection between urbanization and carbon emission in the Nigerian economy. In the short-term, GDP, trade and energy use positively affect carbon emission while in the long-term, trade and GDP negatively affect carbon emissions with energy use having a positive impact on carbon emissions. The study, therefore, concludes that urbanization does not cause carbon emission to rise in Nigeria, but energy use does. From the findings, it was recommended that there is a need for the use of energy-saving and environmentally friendly technology to reduce the amount of carbon emission in the economy.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132851441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, elaborating freedom of conscience and religion has to be done within the framework of a positive legal system, i.e. Laws and the Constitution, which underlie the concept of organizing the state itself. Religious beliefs have been present for millenniums and their beginnings are in the very essence of both humans and communities, and even countries. The Republic of Macedonia along with all other states which were once part of the common Yugoslav federation has two periods of treatment of the issue of religious freedom, i.e. the freedom of conscience and religion. The well-known concept of separation of religious feelings from the statelegal system was practiced in the former common federation. Relying on that concept and upon gaining independence, the Republic of Macedonia has developed a different, primarily symbiotic blend of the state with its two biggest religious communities, thus attempting to deal with this extremely sensitive issue, more or less successfully, which is actually the basic principle of human freedoms.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132104027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, this analysis is concerned with measuring this function in the short run by employing the Error Correction Mechanism (ECM). The analysis relies on the annual data obtained from the International Financial Statistics (IFS) published by the IMF for the period 1970-2007. When the simple Taylor rule was estimated for Egypt, the output gap and inflation coefficients were statistically significant, and their signs were found to be consistent with theoretical rationale. When the open-economy Taylor rule was estimated, the coefficients of the output gap, inflation and exchange rate had statistical significance with the expected signs. Therefore, the inflation rate has played an important role in conducting the Egyptian monetary policy.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114574931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The adequacy of this paper relies on the premise that an econometric modeling of the relation between these variables is very important for the explanation of economic and social growth. Our result is in line with the premise that crime goes up when unemployment rises. These findings suggest that, to combat crime, all strategies oriented to mitigate unemployment should be investigated. Furthermore, in order to successfully mitigate crime, governmental authorities in the CEE economies need to achieve macroeconomic stability.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125400033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to effectively help design and prepare information sharing services for such complex operational environments, designers have to consider various architecture tradeoffs and interactions across the SOA application, communication middleware and network infrastructure layers. In this paper, we describe a novel modeling and analysis framework for analyzing and evaluating the performance of SOA-based information services and their myriad design & deployment options over varying network infrastructures under varying conditions of network load. Our modeling framework developed in OPNET defines critical Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) to characterize performance of candidate applications considering the SOA interaction characteristics, as well as the underlying SOA communication middleware and network infrastructures. Our modeling framework provides the ability to both analyze as-is application scenarios as well as potential alternative architectures that may include differing application characteristics (e.g. increase in the application’s data generation rate), varying the SOA interaction characteristics (e.g. pub-sub vs. requestresponse communication styles, use of JSON vs. XML for data-interchange, use of SAML security tokens etc.) or network characteristics (e.g. varying background traffic and latency). A key feature of our modeling framework is the ability to uncover issues resulting from adverse or unforeseen interactions between the Application, SOA interactions and Network layers. Our initial results on evaluating Information sharing services across enterprise inter-agency infrastructures interconnected by public/private networks demonstrate the viability of our cross-layer modeling framework.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130703863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This topic arose pronounced attention of international organizations. Indeed, these institutions have built analytical models to assess the strictness of EPL in different countries, but we find that these models are sometimes incomplete despite the abundance of information they provide. The purpose of this article is to propose the introduction of new elements to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) analysis model based on the Canadian experience. We, thus, propose to adjust the synthetic indicator of EPL for Canada taking into account local specificities not taken into consideration by the OECD.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"269 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122185730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of the following variables are observed: Gender, One of my parents has a private business, The year in which the student is studying, Student success in learning and studying and The financial opportunities to start a new business. The respondents are studying at seven faculties in Serbia. The sample included 488 respondents. The most influential variable on the dimension entrepreneurial intentions is the financial opportunities to start a new business. Also, men have more pronounced entrepreneurial intentions. Success in studies positively influences entrepreneurial potentials and proactivity, while the possession of finance positively influences entrepreneurial intentions and risk readiness. In cases of successful studies and the possession of finance, women are more motivated, more determined, and have more pronounced entrepreneurial intentions (especially in the case of having financial resources). Although men may show a more preference to become entrepreneurs, women approach entrepreneurship more realistically and decisively.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"277 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121325096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been noted that all banks in the sample give high priority to those standards, that they already have certain knowledge of the area and that they provide constant training to their employees with the aim of enabling full implementation of those standards. It has also been determined that the regulatory authorities in B&H have not done enough on adopting new regulation related to the area and that operating results of the banks are not satisfactory, especially in terms of rate of return and capital adequacy of banks. Thus, it is recommended that the banks in B&H, in addition to their regular activities, collect new sources of funding, especially their own funds or fresh equity since the attraction of other sources does not make much sense without it. Also, the regulatory authorities (banking agencies) should adopt new regulation (decrees), and impose the implementation of new standards in the banking industry together with drafting of specific instructions for the application of individual regulation, preparation of different formats of reports (specific layout of forms) and the implementation of standards and instructions in the banks.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133993041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research has been inspired by a number of similar researches conducted in other countries. The research has been conducted on two Belgrade Stock Exchange's indexes: BELEX 15 (represents the market movement of stock prices) and BELEX Sentiment (represents the aggregate investors’ predictions of future stock prices behavior). In methodological sense, this analysis was made by using Vector Auto-regression (VAR) model and Granger causality model. The results show that investors in Serbia are not very successful in prediction of future prices. The research also shows that investors have based their expectations on historical prices, which resulted in bad predictions. The results of this research are in cohesion with the previous researches conducted in other developing, transitional countries.","PeriodicalId":341851,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Applied Economics","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116363309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
