One of the complications is peripheral neuropathy nerve damage that causes diabetic ulcers so that there is a risk of decreased foot sensitivity and changes in ankle brachial index values in diabetics. Progressive muscle relaxation technique is one of the actions that can affect the hypothalamus to regulate and reduce the activity of the sympathetic nervous system to provide direction by moving the feet slowly and regularly. Objective: to determine the effect of progressive relaxation techniques on the value of ankle brachial index and foot sensitivity in patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study used quasi experiment method with pre test and post test design approach with control group. The population of DM patients was 120 respondents, then the sample was taken using non-probability sampling and based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sampling using total sampling with the number of respondents 15 intervention groups and 15 control groups. Analysis using the t-test. Results: The results of the study on the ABI value obtained a p-value of 0.02 in the intervention group and a p-value of 0.414 in the control group while the foot sensitivity value obtained a p-value of 0.01 in the intervention group and 0.07 in the control group. Conclusion: This shows that there is an increase in ABI values and foot sensitivity in patients with diabetes mellitus. The progressive relaxation technique can be used as an intervention to prevent diabetic foot ulcers.","PeriodicalId":339162,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Global Health Research","volume":"924 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140446094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This response is a physiological response to external or internal stimuli that can cause behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and physical symptoms. Anxiety in patients starts from the moment the patient receives a surgery schedule. If the patient continues to feel anxious while the operation is in progress, this can disrupt the operation process because a tense patient can increase the heart rate which can affect the patient's blood pressure and breathing. This study aims to determine the effect of educational videos on anxiety in surgical patients. The research uses a quantitative research design with a quasi-experimental research design (pretest-posttest with control group design). There were 66 street children as respondents consisting of 33 control group respondents and 33 treatment group respondents. Respondents were determined using affordable population techniques. The independent variable is smart visual education based on Dorothea Orem's self-care theory and the dependent variable is anxiety level. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the independent t-test with a significance level of p<0.05. The instrument used was the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) Questionnaire. There is a significant relationship between respondents' anxiety levels in the pretest and posttest results (p=0.000) in both the control group and the treatment group. However, there was no significant difference in the delta of respondents' anxiety levels in both the control and treatment groups. Smart visual education based on Dorothea Orem's self-care theory influences reducing the anxiety level of patients who will undergo surgery with SAB regional anesthesia.","PeriodicalId":339162,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Global Health Research","volume":"63 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140459088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
