The methodology was the documentary analysis. The results show how the logic of the discourse of violence in educational institutions is strongly supported by the discourse of science and technologies of the self. The findings indicate that control production and docile subjectivities are not only possible but even proposed as desirable for the world of school.","PeriodicalId":339096,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Addiction and Psychology","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131441073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study made participants think along the lines of the perspectives they had about the two disorders and brought out the differences they had about them. This study was conducted in the Abelemkpe and Dzorwulu vicinity where participants were selected based on their convenience. The study was developed from a qualitative methodology and semi structured interview guides were used. Form the study it was brought to light that people were more accepting towards persons with developmental disabilities as compared to persons with developmental disabilities. They also made comparisons on the demandingness and caregiving both needed, education and job prospects. This work is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License OAJAP.MS.ID.000509. OAJAP. MS.ID.000509. DOI: 10.33552/OAJAP.2018.01.000509. Page 2 of 4 disabilities are varied and remain unknown in a large proportion of cases [10-12], Finucane B, et al. [13] attributed this to the relative contribution of nature versus nurture being debated on for decades. However a few researchers have come out to say that the disorder can be from either small [14] or extreme environmental stress [15], genetic factors [11] and others address the spiritual causation [16]. On the other hand, Chiteraka C [17] has defined physical disability as any physiological disorder or condition, cosmetic disfigurement, or anatomic loss affecting one or more of the following body systems: neurological, musculoskeletal, lymphatic, skin, and endocrine systems. It is simply a limitation on an individual’s physical functioning, mobility, dexterity or stamina. It is currently estimated that out of the ten percent of the world’s population afflicted with various forms of impairments, about 500 million are physically impaired [18]. In Ghana, the 2010 population Census revealed that physical impairment was the second most common type of disability in Ghana after visual impairment in both urban (25.1%) and rural (25.7%) localities in Ghana. Though a lot of work has been done on both physical disabilities and developmental disorders, there has not been much work done on the perspectives people have about them. It can be seen that in as much as everyone had their opinions on both disorders, there was the need to verify their stands on these disorders when asked to compare them. The study sorted out to investigate the ideologies of Ghanaians when it comes to physical and developmental disorders and how these two disorders are treated differently, or if they both receive the same the same kind of treatment in Ghana.","PeriodicalId":339096,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Addiction and Psychology","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123289948","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cyber-bullying victimization has recently received a fair amount of attention due to some heart-breaking events orbiting in schools and even at homes. Although research has already demonstrated a number of serious consequences of cyber-victimization, many questions remain unanswered concerning the impact of cyber-bullying. This study gathers literature from 18 studies pieces together only the factors that kick-start cyber-bullying perpetration and victimization but also the effects of bullying on the victims as well as the bullies.","PeriodicalId":339096,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Addiction and Psychology","volume":"38 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126603535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study adopted a cross-sectional survey design in which questionnaires were used for data collection from diabetic patients in two major hospitals within the Ibadan metropolis. A multistage sampling technique was employed in selecting a sample of 385 participants for the study. The sample consisted of 232 males and 153 females with a mean age of 64.69 years, and a standard deviation of 10.56. Results showed that the first model of treatment adherence and health related optimism explained 11.94% of the variance in quality of life among diabetes patients, while the interaction term accounted for a significant change in R2 by 3.45%. The results implied that health related optimism positively predicted quality of life when treatment adherence was optimum (β=2.0295; p<.01); while there was no influence of health related optimism on quality of life when treatment adherence was poor (β=.2126; p>.05). Similarly, the second model of comorbidity severity and health related optimism explained 9.30% of the variance in quality of life among diabetes patients; while the interaction term accounted for a significant change in R2 by 3.45%. The result implied that health related optimism positively predicted quality of life when severity of comorbidity was high (β=.6746; p<.01) or low (β=3.6161; p<.01); however, a higher effect was recorded at the latter than the former. Implications of the results were highlighted and discussed.","PeriodicalId":339096,"journal":{"name":"Open Access Journal of Addiction and Psychology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121088055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
