Passwords are the most popular and dominant means of access control in every authentication process. Every password is vulnerable in the virtual world; all we can do is to delay it for one to break into us. Password cracking used in two opposite intentions; either it can be used for an administrator to protect from unauthorized access and for users to recover forgotten passwords or for an intruder to break into a secure system.Method – A great number of attacks on many systems are related to passwords. Awkwardly, the randomness and length of user-chosen passwords remain the same over time, but in contrast, hardware enhancement continuously gives intruders increasing computational power. So, password cracking has been one of the favorite vulnerable aspects for intruders to gain access to any unauthorized system. Among all available freeware password cracking tools, we choose five renowned tools based on offline and online categories.Results – Cain and Abel is the winner in the offline category, and TCH-Hydra is the winner in the online category in their performance among the tools we have tested.Conclusion – In this paper, the data has been collected by testing each tool several times in different systems as well as all tools in the same system based on different matrices. We have come to a knowledgeable result by comparing data among themselves. The results of the comparison will help in the adoption and usage of these tools and also promote the development and usage of security auditing tools.Recommendations – The results of the comparison will help in the adoption and usage of these tools and also promote the development and usage of security auditing tools.","PeriodicalId":33870,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computing Sciences Research","volume":"47 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85004343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several challenges are experienced due to loss of relevant mails, untimely delivery and acknowledgement of incoming mails as well as late feedback. This paper proposes a mobile pigeonhole alert system using a sensor device to send an alert to the intended pigeonhole users notifying them of the arrival of a message as well as the need for timely feedback.Method – Hardware and software implementations were carried out using JAVA programming language to program a sensor, hardcoded on a micro-controller. A well-structured questionnaire was designed and administered to 200 pigeonhole users (i.e., lecturers) in an academic institution to elicit information about their perception of the usability and performance of the system. The data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software for correlation and regression analyses between the usability and system performance.Results – Statistical results showed that the system performed as expected based on users’ satisfaction, realization of system objectives and the significant values obtained from statistical analysis. Comparative analysis of the system also showed an improvement over other existing works.Conclusion – Information system is an essential aspect of any organization which helps with the dissemination and retrieval of information among members. Hence, the designed system has facilitated the work of office clerks as well as the pigeonhole users by reducing the stress of daily pigeonhole check-in and allows quick feedback mechanism for smooth record and operation to urgent mails.Practical Implications – An efficient platform for information retrieval and notification has been developed. With this concern, spatiotemporal data analysis had been an effective way to visualize and represent the area that have been damaged and affected with the integration of the use of Geographical Information System. The National Greening Program (NGP) of the Philippines is in charge of the rehabilitation of unproductive, denuded and degraded forestlands in every province. Method – Using the spatiotemporal data in the form of shapefiles, predictors that could contribute on how the forestland may be rehabilitated were analysed and foreseen. Also, with the analysis stage of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Back Propagation, a forecasting model was identified. Result – It has been determined that with the combination of ANN and Spatiotemporal visualization, possible additional increase in the size of the rehabilitated forestland and its representation can be done efficiently. Conclusion – Thus, the finding may be used as a helpful way for the NGP for forestland rehabilitation and reforestation strategic planning and resource management. Practical Implications – A dynamic and interactive web application may be implemented to monitor implementation of the program. Furthermore, public awareness may be initiated about the importance of forestland.","PeriodicalId":33870,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computing Sciences Research","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83616577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also encourages the use of the R program by giving readers the opportunity to experiment.Method – For the purposes mentioned above, different data sets were obtained from the UC Irvine Machine Learning Repository (2019), which was suitable for classification. After preparing data set and R program for data mining, performance evaluation was made with classification algorithms (J48, Random Forest, Naive Bayes). The 'accuracy' criterion was taken into consideration when interpreting the results.Results – At the end of the study, the accuracy rates were determined for three data sets. Looking at the \"wine\" data, the performance of all three algorithms is quite successful. The results of the other two data sets (lenses and liver) are parallel. Only the ‘liver’ dataset gave a slightly lower accuracy than expected with the Naive Bayes algorithm (0.55).Conclusion – In this study, performance comparison of algorithms has been made within the scope of data mining with R program. The accuracy rate was taken as a criterion. All codes are given with their outputs in order to be an example especially for young researchers or students. It is thought that this study can be a source for other researchers, will encourage the use of R and the researchers or students will try new papers by trying the codes.Recommendations – In subsequent studies, a similar study can be done by developing the given codes. Or how to make classification analysis in R with different algorithms can be examined.","PeriodicalId":33870,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computing Sciences Research","volume":"22 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83245373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results inform students of their academic progress while transcript is a record of a student's academic performance. In most tertiary institutions the two tasks are handled separately with manual operations linking the two tasks. The manual operations and interconnections lead to errors in calculations and delay the production of results or transcript. The delay has caused many students or graduates to lose opportunities. Method – In this work, a combined and centralized result processing and transcript generation system was developed for a tertiary institution. The implementation was done using a Faculty as pilot study before extending to other faculties.Findings – The output shows the results were calculated correctly, graduation parameters applied correctly and reports such as transcript easily generated from the web-based application.Conclusions – The developed transcript and result processing system is functional and operational at the University of Ibadan. It has been used for over 4 academic sessions. The system is compatible with all Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) regulations. The cooperative result processing technique that ensures results are provided for all registered students and documented permission for result changes are some of the features that users have appreciated.Recommendations – Tertiary institutions in Nigeria are encouraged to customize the developed system to eliminate repetition. Additional security mechanisms such as biometrics may be added as another layer. The system may be hosted in the cloud if there is adequate technical support.Practical Implications – This implies that student academic records are stored digitally and requests for reports such as transcripts and statement of results are efficiently produced. The need for result requests for individual student is over as all results for registered students must be submitted for computation as at when due. Manipulation of results is eliminated due to the multi-layered security built into the operation of the system.","PeriodicalId":33870,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computing Sciences Research","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84553353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method - The proponent used two research methodologies. First is the software development which utilized the Agile Software Development. Second is the descriptive research which involved the determination of the acceptability of the software’s usability both by the farmers and the consumers. In this phase a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was used. Results - The proponent developed the Online Laguna Agricultural Trading Center. The system is an e-commerce website that will serve as an alternative channel of marketing the farmers’ products. It will also provide the farmer an easy and economical way of managing some of its business process. Through its Short Message Service capability, the farmer can handle customer inquiries and update inventory of products and prices economically and easily. Based on evaluation, the farmers agreed, “it is easy to find information I needed†, while the buyer agreed that “the system is simple to use†. Conclusion - Based on the findings, the proponent concluded that the developed system can be used as a channel to improve the marketability of farm products of farmers of Laguna. Recommendation - Future researchers may look into the development of its own short messaging services that will not rely on third-party gateways. This will make its implementation less costly on the part of the Administrator. Adding of optional online payment transaction is also encouraged so that big farms who can afford to tie-up with payment centers may be able to do so. Implications - E-commerce is not a new technology. However, there are no systems that directly resolved the problems of farmers. This paper reveals the real problems of farmers in the Philippines including their willingness to embrace technology that will improve their ability to gain income from their produce.","PeriodicalId":33870,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computing Sciences Research","volume":"17 3 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85476798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
