Thermal hydraulics model is utilized for controller design, which sufficiently captures inverse phenomena taking place in steam drum. Decentralized PI, PI control with static decoupling and LQR control techniques are developed. A comparison of controllers performance is made to justify that LQR design outperforms other two controllers.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130708204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

AHRS has been widely used to provide the position and orientation of an object. The performance of an AHRS system can degrade due to IMU sensor errors, that could be deterministic and stochastic. To improve the AHRS system performance, there is a need to develop; (i) stochastic error models and (ii) minimize the random drift using de-noising techniques. In this paper, the Sage-Husa Adaptive Robust Kalman Filter (SHARKF) is modified based on robust estimation and a time varying statistical noise estimator. In the proposed algorithm, an adaptive scale factor (a) is developed based on a three segment approach. In the MSHARKF, the adaptive factor is updated in each iteration step. The MSHARKF algorithm is applied to minimize the bias drift and random noise of the MEMS IMUs signals. From the Allan variance analysis, the noise coefficients such as bias instability (Bs), angle random walk (N) and drift are evaluated before and after minimizing. Simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm performs better than other algorithms for similar tasks.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129533291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wind turbines are utilized to harness wind energy. However, finding the optimal layout (numbers and positions) of wind turbines inside a wind farm is a challenging task as velocity deficits caused by wake effects have to be minimized. In this study, using a linear wake model, a wind farm layout optimization has been carried out with the aim of maximization of energy and the minimization of the investment cost. A novel space decomposition approach is proposed to solve the cost-energy multi-objective optimization problem to determine the optimal layout of turbines. An indexed form of Binary — real coded Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm, termed as i-NSGA II, has been proposed. The proposed approach is first validated with the rigorously explored literature case study and applied further on a realistic wind farm data. It has been found that the proposed method is able to provide ∼133 % increase in power produced and ∼14% improvement in cost-energy ratio as compared to the benchmark case study. Besides, ∼5% improvement in the cost-energy ratio is also observed as compared to the other reported works. Moreover, in contrast to previous studies, the generated Pareto optimal front (PO) allows a decision maker to choose among various layouts of turbines instead of a single solution.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122128653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The MHOC problem can solved as a fuel-optimal control problem [1], but the solution is discontinuous. In [2], an alternative approach based on minimizing the so-called CLOT (Combined L-One and Two) norm is proposed. However, the issue of whether the resulting control is continuous is left unanswered in [2]. In the present paper it is shown that, if h denotes the sampling period, then the difference between successive values of the CLOT-optimal control is O(√h), which is a form of continuity.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123751055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are advantages in studying a causal systems using approaches that do not need a partition of the system variables into inputs and outputs. It is also well-acknowledged that viewing subsystems as input/output blocks helps in our understanding of such systems. In view of this, it is helpful to count the number of input/output partitions that one can assign in a ‘consistent’ way such that a causal systems can be analyzed and simulated using input/output approaches/tools. We introduce a notion of ‘consistent’ input/output partitioning and provide a count for various networks made up of simple 2-terminal electrical blocks (resistors, inductors and capacitors) with one source. We relate the count for the ladder networks to the Fibonacci series. When the 2-terminal building blocks impose their own natural input/output partition, depending on the properness of the transfer function, then this count reduces suitably. This paper formulates and answers such enumeration questions for various common electrical networks. We use techniques from graph theory: of the type used in KCL/KVL/electrical-networks and matching theory in bipartite graphs. Using these techniques we convert a circuit topology into signal flow graphs (SFG) familiar in systems and control theory.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127932444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an optimization technique is used to obtain the optimal droop parameters for the primary control mechanism, considering the required constraints and loading condition. Moreover, comprehensive learning particle swarm optimization technique (CLPSO) is adopted over the conventional particle swarm optimization technique (PSO) method to obtain the droop gains for the primary control mechanism of dc microgrid system. The cost function for the optimization problem is formulated by taking voltage regulation error and proportional load sharing into account. This cost function converges to global minima during iterative operation of the swarm optimization algorithm, resulting in the optimal droop and voltage parameters.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128238025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The control law with the heterogeneous gains ensure positional consensus in the multi-agent system. The control law of each agent consists of position consensus gain and velocity damping gain. It is established that under the presence of at most one zero or negative position consensus gain, the multi-agent system can achieve rendezvous. An analytic expression for the convergence point in terms of initial conditions, position consensus gains, and velocity damping gains is derived. The heterogeneous velocity damping gains aid in expanding the reachable set for the multi-agent system. If the agents are initially at rest, then the rendezvous point will be same as for the single-integrator case with the effective gain being the ratio of position consensus gain to velocity damping gain of each agent. The effectiveness of our control protocol is demonstrated in simulations.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121732241","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
