Airdata sensors installed on aircraft generally measures pressure and flow angles in the local flow field using vanes & probes. However, aircraft requires the free stream parameters for flying. Therefore, forward lookup tables in Air Data Computer (ADC) are used to transform local parameters to free stream parameters. Accuracy of free stream parameters depends upon the accuracy of forward lookup tables in Air data computer. These tables are already calibrated using Maximum Likelihood based Estima software. It has been found that ADS tables needs to be updated. Hence, an Extended Kalman filtering (EKF) based technique is proposed to update the existing calibrated ADS tables. In this paper, Vane Alpha, static pressure coefficient and total pressure coefficients tables are updated. Results are generated and comparison is made between Estima based calibrated tables and EKF based updated ADS tables.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132085841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the factors constraining the peak amplitude and timescale parameters asuch as rise time, pulse width, and decay time are generally unclear. Here we address this using a control-theoretic tools to analyze a standard computational model of a feedforward loop. We compute the dependence of the amplitude and timescale parameters on system parameters. The area under the curve is solved analytically to establish parametric dependence of pulse shape. We use a co-ordinate change to transform the system into an integral feedback system. We use the transformed system to understand factors constraining the amplitude and timescale parameters. These results should help in understanding the interdependence of key systems-level parameters in a pulsing biomolecular circuit.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133115386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Population based evolutionary optimizers such as Genetic Algorithms are known to have many advantages over the classical methods when it comes to solving multi-objective optimization problems. However, their applicability in solving large scale optimization problems such as the multi-objective optimal control is severely limited due to the computational time issues. In this paper, we, therefore, present a novel neural network based strategy which reduces the size of optimal control problem (number of decision variables and constraints) by several folds. The reformulation of optimal control problem into a simple weight training exercise allows the implementation of evolutionary solvers to achieve high quality Pareto solutions. We demonstrate our technique for (i) the design of a plug flow reactor with conflicting energy and conversion costs and (ii) the control of a fed batch bioreactor with a conflict between yield and productivity.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132316289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a cooperative optimization framework, climate control of a group of buildings connected to shared heat pumps is investigated using economic model predictive control (E-MPC). For comparison, two scenarios have been considered — a ‘selfish’ optimization of an individual building and a ‘cooperative’ optimization of a group of buildings. The benefits of cooperative optimization over selfish optimization are shown by analyzing the energy usage and total electricity cost for heat pumps operation. The proposed cooperative optimization approach is able to achieve up to 15% reduction in energy demand cost in comparison with selfish optimization. Hence, a cooperative optimization framework can play a significant role in advancing the concept of building climate control on a larger scale like districts or smart cities.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134138700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
