Consequently, it could cause educational discourse transformation in higher education as well. The research is focused on revealing educational discourse transformation in distance learning. Besides, the paper answers the following research questions: how university teachers communicate with students in virtual classrooms; what language patterns they use for giving instructions; whether verbal communication between teachers and students has crucially changed in digitally-based education. A mixed method approach (discourse analysis of 12 video-recorded lessons of ESL university teachers and the survey of students (n = 45)) makes it possible to shed light on the state of play in virtual educational discourse. The paper reveals that 1) communication in virtual classrooms depends on pedagogical activities which allows classifying educational language models into the following categories – preparation of teaching material presentation online, student engagement in an activity online, giving instruction on how to use EdTech, and expressing emotions or attitude; 2) university teachers use special language patterns for giving instructions related to using ICT tools and apps, e.g. screen sharing, chatting and emotional modality; 3) verbal communication between teachers and students except for linguistic and extra-linguistic features includes informal modes of communication – chat emojis and signs. The findings highlight that educational discourse has crucially changed in digitally-based education and has transformed into virtual educational discourse. On the basis of the results of the theoretical analysis of scientific studies of the training of economists in Ukraine, we will summarize the problems of these works. The problem can be divided into 4 blocks of topics, each of which has its own subtopics: Formation of professional competencies of future economists – 1) formation of abilities and skills; 2) formation of professional competences by various means. Organizational and methodical (pedagogical) principles – 1) organizational and pedagogical principles; 2) didactic or pedagogical conditions; 3) theoretical and methodological aspects; 4) method of development of professional qualities. Training of future economists in Ukraine – 1) training of a certain category of economists; 2) preparation for a certain type of activity; 2) means of improving the quality of professional training; 3) use of ICT in the professional activities of economists; 5) distance learning. means of improving the quality of professional training. Foreign experience of training future economists – the Republic of Poland, Germany, Great Britain and the USA. It is shown that the foreign experience of training specialists in the economic field in the context of modern requirements of the global economic space and the emergence of new economic specialties is not studied enough. The pre-pandemic decade is likely to have become an era of rapid development of global multilingual higher education. Therefore, the article makes an effort to reveal the trends in developing a global multilingual higher education in the pre-pandemic decade, which could contribute to understanding this phenomenon in the post-pandemic times. Moreover, in the recent publications related to trends in the digital transformation of higher education during the COVID-19 pandemic, the issues of multilingual education are not considered. This remark makes this study timely and significant. The systematic examination of 38 scientific resources published primarily on the Web of Science Core Collection database in 2010–2019 makes it possible to reveal the following trends in multilingual higher education development on macro-, meso-, and micro-levels. The research covers the time frame from 2010 to 2019 – the official beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the following research insights are presented in the paper. First, the author makes an effort to distinguish the main components of English-medium higher education. Second, the article presents the geographical distribution of multilingual higher education (2010–2019). The concept of sextortion in education would be taken as a basis. This problem is now being actively studied by scientists from all over the world, which indicates its importance and attempts to scientifically substantiate ways to prevent and fight this phenomenon. The study also focuses on aspects of the cultural manifestation of this illegal phenomenon in education, namely cinema and the media. The most important factor that declares the importance of a particular phenomenon in society is its reflection in popular culture and its discourse. The problem of sextortion in education is undoubtedly such. It should be clarified that this applies mainly to the countries of the Western world, but in Ukraine this problem is also very relevant in the educational environment of universities. The article provides specific examples of inappropriate sexual behavior in educational institutions and analyzes the problem from various sides and subjects of involvement. In addition, the very concept of sextortion and its genesis are analyzed. The study cites the factors that most often lead to the manifestation of sextortion in education. In addition to all of the above, the consequences of this phenomenon on the part of the victim are analyzed, where the key consequence of sexual claims is the impact on the emotional state of a person: victim becomes more vulnerable and feels insecure, being in eternal fear. Is it normal when a future specialist, mastering his profession, cannot feel calm? The concept of quality has been considered and the lack of consensus regarding its conceptualization and evaluation has been stated. The higher education quality has been considered from a pedagogical point of view – as a systematic methodological category reflecting the degree of conformity of the result to the goal set, as well as the correspondence of the product to the consumers’ requirements and as a set of its characteristics determining the degree of suitability of the product for its intended use. It has been noted that the concept of quality and its indicators are debatable due to the presence of a range of stakeholders – persons interested in higher education. The difference in the value of higher education quality for each of the interested parties has been determined by the presence of their own interests and their own vision of quality. Globalization, the massification of higher education and the ICT revolution have been stressed in the article as factors that have radically changed the higher education environment, creating new challenges for governments, higher education institutions and other stakeholders. Higher education quality assurance has been defined as a global problem, and the growing attention to this problem has been noted in connection with the rapid development of higher education and the increase in the cost of educational services for the state and the public. Despite this, studies on EFL teachers' needs for CPD have been limited. To bridge this gap, this study investigated EFL teachers' reflections on and target needs for CPD. This study employed a mixed-methods research design, which involves both quantitative and qualitative approaches to answer the research questions. The research participants included 20 EFL teachers teaching at government high schools, and the data were collected using a test, questionnaires, and interviews. The findings indicated that EFL teachers have different views of their lacks, wants, and necessities. Furthermore, EFL teachers reflected that the current CPD program, which is practiced in their school, was never conducted to help them develop their profession. At the 0.01 level (2-tailed), there was a strong, negative correlation between EFL teachers’ CPD target needs and their reflections on the current CPD (rs = -0.961, n = 20, p = 0.01). The purpose of the article is to characterize open educational platforms for the professional development of teachers of science and mathematics education and technology. These platforms include: the social project «Coaching for Ukraine» created by the AcademyOcean team, which operates with the support of the state; training courses for teachers on the Prometheus+ platform; professional development courses on the Iteacher platform; the Ukrainian educational online portal for teachers «Na urok»; the educational project «Vseosvita»; and the online education studio Educational Era (EdEra). The experience of the Institute of Postgraduate Education of Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, where instructors have developed and implemented original training courses for teachers with different levels of digital competence, is highlighted. It is emphasized that the professional development of teachers with the active use of open educational platforms takes place in accordance with the principles of open education. It has been found that the content of the in-service training of teachers of science and mathematics education and technology in the context of the use of digital tools in the educational process contributes to the renewal of the organization of the educational environment of a general secondary education institution in a remote mode, highlights the features of the learning process organization of students in synchronous and asynchronous modes. Goal 4 Internationalization of higher education of Ukraine includes the following steps: introduction of online admission of foreigners to Ukrainian universities on a regular basis; determination of priority measures for learning English; bringing the list of fields of knowledge into compliance with ISCED (stage 1: June 2022 – the end of 2022). To achieve the above goal, several methods have been used, including an internet search, analysis, systematization of evident information. It was found that Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine provides the regulatory framework for fulfilling goals of the first stage. At the same time it is stated that it is necessary to: approve electronic invitation form; register (registration and issuance by HEIs) electronic invitations using the means of a single interdepartmental electronic platform; interact regarding the approval of electronic invitations; keep records of electronic invitations; introduce the Law of Ukraine «On Employment of the Population» regarding the work of foreigners and stateless persons pursuing higher education in Ukraine; ratify the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education (2019). The increase in the volume of state funding of higher education in Ukraine in the conditions of recovery from the consequences of the war with russia compared to the pre-war period is not realistic. Incompetent use of information and media technologies, lack of modern software, computer equipment and media, as well as the media competence formation in tutors and students negatively affect the quality of distance learning. Our research allowed us to identify the main factors influencing the effectiveness of the media competence formation of the teachers and students in the distance education system. The factors we have identified directly affect the quality of distance learning. Such factors include: preparation of the discipline’s content, motivation and interest of all participants in the educational process, media competence of the tutor and students, material and technical equipment of both tutor and student, factors of the media environment of higher education, factors related with individual characteristics of all participants in the educational process. We also substantiate the significance and nature of the factor we have identified that significantly affects the effectiveness of distance learning in higher education institutions. In our study it has been found that for the effective use of the media environment of a higher education institution it is necessary to have: material and technical equipment, educational content, competent tutors, means of control, technologies for using cloud technologies. The concepts of «creativity» and «creative writing» have been considered and the characteristics of creative writing texts have been outlined; the ways and forms of creative writing for the use at foreign language classes have been stated. Creative writing is also stated as an excellent method to develop writing skills, encourage students to write, develop vocabulary, grammar, imagination. Creativity has recently won great popularity in numerous contexts, showing both positive («creative writing») and negative («creative accounting») connotations. Completing creative tasks, students have an opportunity to express and assert themselves through the means of a foreign language, get satisfaction from the process of producing a written and spoken expression in addition to the fact of getting a finished product. Creative writing has been defined as a form of writing that expresses feelings, thoughts or ideas in an imaginative way which provides students with new ways to play with the language which enhances their writing skills and helps them to improve all their language skills.
