The vibrations may affect the state of serviceability of structures by lowering the comfort of persons working there, as well as possibly reaching a level hazardous to the safety of the structures. The effect of vibrations on the structure is mainly manifested by additional stresses in a given cross-section, which are summed up with those resulting from static loads. The dynamic loads may cause damaging effects in buildings of various structural types or even lead to their destruction. The article describes a series of original analyses of the process of destruction of selected masonry objects using the experimental modal analysis. The research was conducted to improve the quality assessment of building structures in terms of the technical condition of masonry structures and meeting safety standards.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84172851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A number of biological, chemical, and physical reactions occur at the landfills, which cause a threat to the environment. For this reason, landfill monitoring is necessary, and biomonitoring is increasingly beginning to be used. The aim of this study is to (i) determine some effects of the landfill on the surrounding environment, (ii) analysis of plant bioindicators and (iii) biomonitoring based on the occurrence of plant species producing allergenic pollen. Furthermore, plants producing fruits and seeds were also analysed. During biomonitoring, no serious effects of the landfill on the surrounding environment were detected. The plant species found were evaluated based on the frequency of occurrence, pollination vector, distribution of fruits and seeds, and intensity of allergen effects. Thanks to the occurrence of plant allergens, there is a potential risk of the spread of allergens to the landfill surroundings. Furthermore, some species of non-native and invasive plants were found on the active part of the landfill. These species spread their seeds and fruits, and they pose a potential risk to the ecosystems.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":"2012 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78917014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, thanks to the algorithmic design, the obtained results matrix presents various structurally efficient load-bearing elements. The main aim of this paper is to address the topic of material optimisation in truss bar structures with different approaches. The paper analyses and compares steel truss optimisation based on two software optimisation algorithms (MS Excel and Ansys Mechanical) using gradient and sub-problem methods. The key findings present how effective each method is in structural optimisation and concludes the present study with a roadmap to efficient structural designing of the load-bearing truss elements.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89600603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Roofs most often provide the places where photovoltaic (PV) modules are installed. In many cases, ill-considered decisions concerning the selection of PV modules and their installation lead to unfavourable architectural effects. The article aims to examine the possibility of integrating PV modules installed on non-flat roofs with the broadly understood building architecture. An observational method based on case studies was applied to the study. Not only aesthetic aspects but also functional and technical aspects were considered while paying attention to energy issues. The conducted analysis indicates a good level of possibilities for integrating PV modules with architecture and these possibilities vary depending on the geometric features of the roof. Applications within full and glazed roofs are also rather distinctive.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77633896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Damming a river with a weir or other artificial dam disrupts these normal life processes or even makes them impossible. The main way to overcome this problem is to build fish passes. Passes are facilities that allow fish and other aquatic organisms to migrate up and down the river through barriers such as thresholds, dams and weirs. Conventional solutions of fish pass construction have the most significant number of studies both in the literature as well as in engineering practice. Therefore, their design methodology is widely available. It considers, first of all, hydraulic and granulometric parameters, conditions of particular structure elements locations, but also properties of migrating fish species. This study covers the concept of restoration of a dam on the Radomka river with a conventional pool fish pass. The pool fish pass will be located along the river bank, allowing the migration of fish identified in the study area. Additionally, it was developed a concept of bed material mixture, consisting of clastic material in the form of sand with addition of a coarser gravel-stone fraction.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49391099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was analysed the influence of tensile properties of the above-mentioned materials on their resistance against fatigue resulting from movements of the substrates caused by temperature changes on the surface of the terraces coverings. The adopted range of horizontal plate movements was from 0 to 2 mm at variable temperatures: –  15°C and +70°C. The durability of waterproofing sheets, such as reinforced bitumen sheets and PVC sheets and rubber sheets, as well as coating products was assessed. Thermal deformations of the substrate plates occurring within the terrace covering are most effectively transferred by flexibility sheets with a high relative elongation value, that is: bitumen sheets with polyester reinforcement, PVC sheets and EPDM sheets. The correlation between the mechanical properties of the coatings and their resistance to fatigue cannot be determined but the most favourable properties are shown by two-component (polymer-cement) liquid applied water impermeable products reinforced on the entire surface or reinforced with special tapes over the thermal expansion joints of the substrate plates.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44224531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To describe a mathematical model of transient heat transfer the energy balance method was used. The most important element is to determine the effective thermal conductivity coefficient using the electrical analogy. The simulations of heating were performed for increasing temperature of furnace. The results show that using different sizes and bundle arrangement the heating time can be reduced by 5–15%. The analysed problem is important from the practical point of view because it allows for optimization of heat treatment processes of steel bars.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43484543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sunk wells are enginee-ring structures commonly used in construction, particularly under difficult soil conditions or when construction sites have a small area. Sunk wells are made using the “cut and lower” method, which means that the first segment to be lowered is equipped with a cutting-edge section (bottom blade) that cuts into the soil and the structure sinks into it. In design, it is necessary to take into account the phased execution of these structures and their spatial work. The article presents the loads working during the construction and operation of sunk wells, as well as the assumptions and guidelines for static calculations and dimensioning. When the sunk well steining is significantly high (the well is embedded deep), concreting and lowering are most often performed in two or three segments. The article describes the subsequent steps taken during the implementation of sunk wells, constantly changing static diagrams and the method of adopting them in calculations. It also presents the method of lowering sunk wells with possible implementation difficulties. The article is supplemented with exemplary drawings of the steining reinforcement, cutting-edge section and bottom plate of the well and the photos of selected realizations.","PeriodicalId":33811,"journal":{"name":"Acta Scientiarum Polonorum Architectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47709206","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
