Internet computer network and distance learning enabled the transfer of vast multimedia operation and the education independent of its venue and time. Student's feedback of distance learning can improve its quality. A distance learning system based on a dialogue enables the assessment of a student's knowledge. The system is based on the analysis of a student's feedback, research of the defined structure of the teaching domain and generation of the new learning contents. It follows the learning progress and improves the quality of knowledge. A distance learning system is implemented by integration database and WWW technologies.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. After discussing several computer application possibilities, the usage of computers in education processes at FER Zagreb is explained. Various forms of computer application are used for lectures, as well as for laboratory exercises. A multimedia approach is implemented in all forms of the teaching process. Presentation slides, animations, simulations, measurements on real circuits, as well as video clips are extensively used, resulting in a more interesting teaching process and better student knowledge.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. Analog circuit can be designed on a personal computer, uploaded to the board via a USB interface and immediately evaluated. The development board is based on Anadigm AN10E40 Field Programmable Analog Array (FPAA), which is controlled by a MC68HC908GP32 microcontroller, connected to the USB interface. The board features 4 analog inputs, 4 outputs and 5 selectable input/output lines. The whole system is powered from personal computer over USB 5V power lines by means of a DC-DC converter, so that it does not require any additional power supply. Analog circuit design is supported by Anadigm Designer software which also features time domain simulation and filter design tools.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. OO techniques have not, however, been widely adopted by science and mathematics teachers and curriculum authors. The continued use of procedural languages in education is partly due to the lack of up-to-date curricular development tools that implement science computation and numerical analysis techniques within an OO framework. This talk describes a new open-source development project that combines OO software development with science education research to produce such material. These OO tools include frameworks for two- and three-dimensional drawing, numerical analysis, and user interfaces. Examples are presented that show how these tools can be used to create curricular material for upper level science and mathematics course.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. However there is still distinct lack of formalised structure of storing and disseminating this knowledge for a variety of geographical, economical, and societal reasons. This presentation aims to show a feasibility of a two pronged effort to exploit these opportunities. Firstly by creating a self-learning environment for the dispersed multilingual and multicultural society, with various levels of computer and IT literacy with directed on-line support. Secondly by using the state of the art technology to help mobility and tourism to create a harmonized society and to generate and encourage a peer-learning environment.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003. In real-time systems, timing constraints should function as a driving force throughout the design process, instead of employing temporal constraints only at the starting and end point of the design process (i.e. within the specification and the validation of the implementation). We describe a platform-based design methodology aiming at safety-critical distributed real-time applications. This methodology incorporates the idea of the platform-independent and platform-specific models of OMG;s Model Driven Architecture. We present a framework that employs the MATLAB/Simulink tool suite for functional design activities at the application space. The framework offers blocksets for modeling the communication between nodes of a distributed time-triggered system, while taking the temporal behavior of communication and processing activities into account. Automatic code generation maps the platform-specific model onto the system platform. The platform space comprises a real-time Linux variant as the operating systems and the Time-Triggered Architecture as the network platform.","PeriodicalId":337983,"journal":{"name":"The IEEE Region 8 EUROCON 2003.
