Also, every account in these apps comes with default privacy settings that are often difficult to grasp and find, even for experts. Therefore, many users’ data may be utilized outside of their actual preferences. In this paper, we aim to explore how default privacy settings match people’s real preferences. To this end, we performed a UK-based online survey where we asked respondents about their preferences for some privacy settings of popular social media apps like Facebook and LinkedIn. The results show that the default privacy settings of many social media apps other than Google and Twitter do not reflect the true preferences of the majority of people. Even Google and Twitter were able to meet the preferences of only 61% and 54% of the respondents, respectively, which is far from a mere majority. Moreover, most of the respondents disapproved of data sharing with partners and personalized ads, which are common privacy settings in different apps and mostly enabled by default.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"493 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127204080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

NS allows operators to fully utilize the physical infrastructure by allowing multiple logical infrastructures to co-exist. So, different architectures of different technical requirements can be virtualized and deployed on the same physical infrastructure. This feature is expected to become the standard approach of deploying private cellular networks (PCN) for commercial, industrial and governmental sectors. However, there are many challenges related to fully realizing network slicing in real life. One of the main challenges is designing new architectures and algorithms to process numerous interlinked logical networks and interconnected physical infrastructures. The growing complexity of 5G networks can affect the optimal provisioning of resources within an acceptable timeframe. In this paper, we propose a new hypergraph-based network slicing framework that utilizes hypergraph theory in order to process the slice links and connections. Hypergraphs possess a generalization feature that can be employed to improve the performance of the network slicing framework. Simulations show hypergraph provides faster processing and better resource allocation compared to existing provisioning approaches including complex networks.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125689288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, a market survey for the available PV panel in the UAE was conducted and the most common 14 brands were considered in the current study. A PV plant with a total module area equal to 100 m2 was simulated. The simulations were carried out for the 14 brands of PV panels. Annual energy yield and economic performance were utilized as figures of merit for comparison study. According to the calculations, under UAE working conditions, monocrystalline modules offer the highest energy productivity, whereas polycrystalline panels are the most financial outlook. These findings would aid in the selection of the PV module for system installation in the UAE region.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115314314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the study, the μ-law signal compression method is adapted to calculate short-term signal energies. A simple voice activity detection (VAD) algorithm is designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The same VAD algorithm was also run with two different conventional energy calculation formulas and the performance of each VAD was evaluated using time-domain short-time energy features. The G729 standard VAD algorithm was also used for performance comparison. During the test of the analyzed detectors, many kinds of input speech signals with various types of background environmental noise, such as restaurants, vehicles, and streets, were tested. Using the new energy calculation method, the VAD detector has improved detection accuracy compared to VAD detectors based on the other two energy methods and was able to effectively identify voice-active regions even in noisy conditions at low SNR levels. The results revealed that the VAD detector designed with the proposed new energy calculation formula outperforms traditional energy-based voice activity detection methods and provides noticeable increases in detection rate even under adverse conditions.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128736262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, replacing silicon with carbon nanotube (CNT) may potentially pave a new way to the semiconductor industries because of its small size and better electrical properties. Therefore, this project utilized SILVACO ATLAS software to develop a Gate All-around CNTFET. This software can analyze the electrical behaviors of specified CNTFET structures and provides insight into the internal physical mechanisms associated with the device operation. Hence, the one of the response variables can be extracted such as on-current (Ion), off-current (Ioff), current ratio (Ion/Ioff), threshold voltage (Vth), subthreshold slope (SS) and Drain Induced Barrier Lowering (DIBL). In this CNTFET design, the highest current ratio recorded is $7.297 times 10^6 mathrm{A}$ when using higher CNT diameter which is 4.0 nm. The larger value of current ratio is contributed by the lowest value of off current which is $4.535 times 10^{-14} mathrm{A}$. The 8.0 nm of CNT diameter produced highest on-current with $4.922 times 10^{-6}$ due to the lowest threshold voltage which is 1.21 V. The 4.0 nm also produced the lowest value of DIBL and SS which is 0.00613 V/V and 0.0613 V/dec respectively. Deeper study on the CNTFET design parameter can significantly affect the device performance because of semiconductor industry demand to have a smaller device technology with better performance. Thus, this study shows that CNT material has the potential to be implemented in the design of FET.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124492527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The energy consumed by a sensor node is essentially due to the following operations: capture, processing, and communication of data. Most of the energy of the nodes is spent in the communication process compared to the detection and processing of data. The main objective is to propose a communication protocol in aim to preserve energy consumption in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a modified version of LEACH protocol that is based on a multi-hop gateway in aim to optimize energy consumption in wireless sensor networks. The results of the simulation have allowed us to deduce that our contribution extends the overall lifetime of the network by the LEACH protocol.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116756612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From control system design parameters such as percent overshoot and settling time, the damping ratio and the location of specific poles can be defined. A specific gain can be selected from the root locus for a certain damping ratio and closed loop response. Phase lead and lag type compensators can be designed satisfying more than one control system parameters. In this paper, a root locus design approach is presented using MATLAB; phase lead and lag type compensators are designed based on transient and steady state specifications.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123772733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective was to produce a portable system for safe and consumable water and produce at least 6 liters of water per day in the summer season. The solar still distillation method is used, where the factors and parameters that affect the solar still are optimized. A theoretical model was devised to predict the output of the solar still under specified weather conditions, which are present in the summer of Bahrain. A prototype was manufactured from aluminum 3004 alloy, acrylic sheets, and polystyrene expanded foam type V for experimental verification which took seawater at a pH of 8.04 and a TDS of 36240 ppm and resulted in 665 ml/day of desalinated water at a pH of 7.76 and a TDS of 57 ppm. The experimental result of the total water produced per day had a deviation of 17.52%, with the theoretical calculations which resulted in 806 ml/day. The prototype measurements were extrapolated to final design included an increase in the surface area to result in dimensions of 2mx2mx1.125m, an addition of a stepwise basin, and an induced flowrate. All of which resulted in the increase of desalinated water to an output of 7146 ml/day.","PeriodicalId":337798,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Electrical and Computing Technologies and Applications (ICECTA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124389375","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
