The results showed that the highest values of grain yield of corn plant, dry weight of onion plant nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake were recorded with combined effect of amendments (sulfur, farmyard manure and filter mud). The combined effect of amendments was found to be more effective in reducing EC and pH of the soil compared with application of sulfur or filter mud alone. Also, organic matters contain more of elements of nutrients by application of combined amendments which is due to solubility to nutrients uptake by plant. On the other hand, addition of sulfur to soil in combination with farmyard manure and filter mud caused a high increase of the available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium due to increase of soil fertility compared with control treatment. Generally, from these results it can be concluded that the application of amendments (sulfur, Farmyard manure and filter mud in combination) improved soil fertility as well as increase of plant growth and nutrients uptake by onion and corn plants.","PeriodicalId":337725,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Egyptian Academic Society for Environmental Development. The present study refers to light on main catch composition of gill net and assessing them bioeconomicaly. The results showed that the gill net catch has 7 species of fish and crustaceans, weighing 10.28 kg in each catch/unit gear. The percentage of catches from gill nets per fishing unit of fishing trip (one night) were as follows: Thin lip Grey mullet, Liza ramada constituted the most dominant fish species (52.22%) followed by Swimming crab, Portunus pelagicus (18.53%) and Grey-mullet, Mugil cephalus (10.78%). According to size evaluation, the average juvenile and adult catches weighting about 4.29Kg (41.71%) and 5.99 kg (58.29%) respectively per unit of fishing trip. The total economic catch (adult) recorded the highest weight in September (8.97 kg / per unit) and June recorded the lowest (4.01 kg / per unit). Also, the high non-economic catch (juvenile) was recorded in September (5.75 kg / per unit) and June recorded the lowest (2.70 / kg per unit). The present results indicated that, the landing of juvenile leads to more losses of stock biomass which formed ≈ 345 tones and about 23.6 million LE losses in one fishing season, 2016.","PeriodicalId":337725,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Egyptian Academic Society for Environmental Development. Six stations selected longitudinally at this region for collection of water and macrobenthic invertebrates. Samples were collected during the period from August, 2019 to April, 2020. Some heavy metals were measured to evaluate the degree of pollution in the studied sites. Macrobenthic invertebrates (MBI) comprised 18 species belong to three phyla; phylum Annelida (5 species), phylum Mollusca (10 species), phylum Arthropoda (2 species). Annelida was the abundant group, where it represented 98 % of the total MBI with an annual average of 28887 Org./m 2 .The highest number of MBI was observed at site 4 (Tamalay) with a value of (8514 Org./m 2 ), while the lowest one (45 Org./m 2 ) was recorded at site 2 due to the effect of El-Rahawy drain. The correlation depending on Principlal Component Analysis and biological indices showed that, water temperature, nitrie, nitrate, pH, transparency and DO had a significant positive correlation with MBI. Cadmium showed a significant positive correlation with the most dominant macrobenthic invertebrates groups and species. The study recommended that, the water discharged from El-Hahawy drain should treated.","PeriodicalId":337725,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Egyptian Academic Society for Environmental Development. Organisms were sedimented by using cold centrifugation technique at 7 o C followed by examining and counting via Carl-Zeiss Jena transmitted-light inverted microscope. Protozoa represented the most common zooplankton where ciliates predominate flagellates which are followed by sarcodines. It was proved that the pollution level of this lake is much higher than those of the Nile branches which could be referred to the extensive illegal discharges of various pollutants from more than five provinces, those of oil pollutants derived from Mediterranean sea and sewage discharges. Comparing the present data with the previous records, it appears that a peculiar achievements was obtained at the moment, but still need more urbanization to have more progress from the ecological and economic points of view.","PeriodicalId":337725,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Egyptian Academic Society for Environmental Development. In the coastal region of the Nile Delta, the present study assessed the contribution of four exotic invasive weeds to phytoremediation of heavy metals. These were Xanthium strumarium L. (Xa), Trianthema portulacastrum L. (Tr), Bassia indica (Ba), and Atriplex lindleyi (At). Results showed that Fe, Zn, Co, Pb, Cd, and Cu in plant samples had average heavy metal concentrations of 0.34, 0.07, 0.009, 0.21, 0.01, and 0.042 mg/g DW, respectively. X. strumarium had the maximum bioaccumulation (BCF) of Cd, Cu, Co, and Zn. A. lindleyi and B, indica displayed the greatest BCF values for Fe and Pb, respectively. BCF of Pb, Co, and Fe were shown to be highly correlated with nitrogen content. Results obtained will be helpful for using these exotic weeds as a tool for phytoremediation of heavy metal-polluted soil. Therefore, the chosen exotic weeds could be considered as the one of best candidates for heavy metal phytoremediation in contaminated soils.","PeriodicalId":337725,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Egyptian Academic Society for Environmental Development.
